In the third installment, the little demons are summoned from an old comic book at a college campus by Professor Ragnar (Kevin McCarthy), who is obsessed with the occult. Soon the creatures wreak havoc that is initially dismissed as elaborate pranks by the partying frat houses during the annual "Prank Week" - that is, until a couple at the school realize that the pranks are not so innocent this time. The film also stars Eva LaRue, Patrick Labyorteaux, Evan MacKenzie, Matthew Lillard, Hope Marie Carlton, Marcia Wallace, Stephen Lee, and Jason Scott Lee. Directed by John Carl Buechler

I remember buying that on vhs from a thrift store some 20 years ago. Was a fan of Ghoulies 2 and was very excited to watch it. I was disapointed when I saw what they had done to the Ghoulies, but could not stop watching. The dean character is just perfect!

I was fortunate to have met Buechler at a convention back in 2016 a few years before he passed, and I attended his Q&A. There was a point when he was asked about Ghoulies 3. Now I can't remember everything he said in perfect detail, but he did say the "weird" tone of the movie was due to conflicting ideas on what the movie should be. I think he wanted it to be more kid friendly and that was the initial agreement with the writer and producers. But then the producers kept changing their minds and kept saying "add more nudity," and were responsible for trying to make it more like an Animal House adult comedy. What I remember most was Buechler being unhappy about the inconsistency of the clashing tones and he said during the Q&A "I kept asking myself who is this movie for?" So I think when you guys are questioning in the video "Why did Buechler do ___?" He didn't have full creative control over what to keep or get rid of, so even though he directed it and made the creatures, it's inaccurate to credit Buechler with every creative decision for what ended up in the movie.

I'm so glad you guys covered this! I'm a huge fan of Ghoulies and this movie is just so much fun. The first time I watched this that "bomb scene" just broke me and I couldn't stop laughing. What a bizarre movie that is hard to believe exists, but I'm glad it does.
Great review as always. What a great movie franchise the Ghoulies was. Ghoulies 3 definitely has a Three Stooges blended with Revenge of the Nerds and Porky's vibes to it.

This is my favorite Ghoulies movie. It was my first tho, I even ended up buying the one, I used to rent. It was a wonderful.
Years ago I bought one of those bargain 6 fim collections (had Class of 1999 which is why I bought it) and had Ghoulies 3. . Keep up the great and highly entertaining work.

Ghoulies is one of those series whose vhs covers scared me as a kid but bore me to death when i try to watch as an adult

You guys inspired me to re-watch the series. I have #3 on a budget compilation horror DVD, but only have #1 on VHS. So, I'll watch the first two on Tubi while they still have them (which is just until Wednesday).
I saw the first Ghoulies a little while ago.
Didn't care for it much. But still interested in seeing the sequels. They sound more like what I thought the original would be.
Ghoulies is very much a straight forward, supernatural horror movie.

Also cause apparently I'm "that guy now" lol, the Big Ben character in House was mostly played by Richard Moll (Bull from night court, Mestema from Dungeonmaster, Evilspeak, etc.), and Kane was the stunt coordinator for the film and did do stunts for Big Ben/the movie. But if look up Richard Moll his credit as Big Ben is listed as like the number one or two thing he's "known for" on IMDB.

I watched this yesterday afternoon, and this was a rough watch for me. Love Ghoulies 1 and 2, but this was not an entertaining film. The score was super distracting, and the Ghoulies constant terrible 1 liners. This is definitely in the Dumpster for me. Now on to the positives, no matter how much I dislike a movie, I always love Sean and Joe shooting the shit about nostalgic B films.

saw ghoulies and ghoulies 2 I was 9/10 when ghoulies 3 came out and that's when my ma said no cause she took one look at ghoulies 3 and said this is no better than a russ meyers film I had no idea at the time what she meant I do now lol

For me I think all these films suck minus Ghoulies 2. The second one to me is legit the only well made one for a B film.
Pretty much gave up hope for more talks from the darkside.
It'll be back, we hadn't intended there to be such a large break between episodes but a lot of crazy stuff happened over the summer behind the scenes that prevented us from doing it. Mostly due to scheduling, but we hear you! We're going to go into it more when we do our next live show later this month. Hoping to have it back soon!
You gotta imagine this one aint on Bluray in the US cause of some lame ass music right thing…

ghoulies 2 and 3 are both the better movies. 4 sucks becouse they changed the look of the ghoulies.
