in these type of clips why do people randomly throw out their first attack squadron

The flak cannons have a tendency of hitting/chipping the wide group of squadron during attack formation animation therefore losing the first squadron early and using 2 sets of planes strictly for scouting is considered more viable choice due to the fact that in long run you end up saving planes for the next attack with 3 full set on a weaker or half health ships.
