This year's RG is Halep's best chance to win her first GS. For what it's worth, she should have won the AO final this year.

Just because Meldonium was legal before 2016 doesn't mean it was legal to take it, she still took the prescription drug for a non existent or no longer existent medical condition,that's illegal in its own right.
And while it was legal for tennis before 2016, it wasn't for other sports, so they punished her accordingly and justly.

Excellent match from both players. I really want to like Simona as a player, but for some reason her style just doesn’t do it for me. Her topspin and consistency are great, but she just lacks a killer shot. Backhand, great, but not a killer. She is basically an updated version of Sanchez Vicario. Plays like Rafa without the power. I’m bored by her game, yet still I like her and want her to win 🤷🏻♂️. She works incredibly hard, is talented, and deserves a slam.

Congrats to Simona. After spending a good deal of time rooting for her through the years, I gave up in frustration. This was well-played against a Sharapova who looks rejuvenated and who has beaten Simona 7 of 9 times, though Simona has won the last 2. FInal should be a good one.
Fierce contest. Glad Sharapova is really competing again. Halep is ethereal. Is this the best WTA roster ever? Or for a while? Just so many really good players.

Well fought match could have gone either way, congrats to Simona. The good news is Sharapova had been on court 10 hours and Halep only 2 prior to this match and Maria still almost got it done. Depending on Maria’s draw at the French she has potential to get very far because her game still hasn’t peaked yet. Nice match for Halep but she has to be able to beat players like this in Majors and honestly if they meet again at the French Maria will probably win. If Maria keeps her early round matches to only 2 sets and gets to the quarters doing that she will have a real chance at winning the French open again. But really depends on her draw and if she cuts back on her unforced errors. Halep has to pray she doesn’t see Venus,Serena,Kvitova or Maria until the final. Halep is a great player but she can’t hold up in a slam against these girls. They want it more than she does.

@ mka Good point, but if you've been following her for a while you'll see she's making progress in many areas. I think once she's got her main tools sharp and reliable (which depends a lot on psychology) she'll improve the variety too.
@ Andrey, I find it hard to judge (her coach's performance). What makes you say that? I'm genuinely curious. If anything it seems she's improving in consistency and confidence, without which it's probably slow to make big progress in style.
