I was just looking this song up and jamming so hard with headset on and eyes closed after taking a bong rip and was thinking "Man, i wish there was a metal cover of this". I didn't expect this to show up when I searched "Pokemon tcg grandmaster duel"
So not only does this slap, I noticed while Toxic was playing parts of this track have sections that sound somewhat similar to both Silver from Gold & Silver but also some elements of Archie & Maxie's themes from gen 3 as well. Interesting how you can hear things like that even if the music is being played through a new medium.
This is what I could imagine playing if the grandmasters got a crossover into the main games. Jack challenges you to a pokemon duel then this kicks on.

What an excellent blast from the past outta nowhere! Still remember the list for my deck I would always make when I played this game; kinda have to since the battery in my cart died. And the music -- I feel like every track was excellent in its own way. Of course with this one, there was always that sense of gravitas to the duel; a song to really get the adrenaline going. I feel like you translated it into a metal format quite nicely -- thank you for your rendition!

Ronald, The Grandmasters, Club leaders, Imakuni. Besides the Ai/difficulty level, the game is underrated.) And the sequel japanese only release has just as great hits as the original.

Hell yeah dude, I love seeing Pokemon TCG (GBC) rep, especially since that game has a killer soundtrack. The Grandmaster's Theme is so intense, it gets your blood pumping as you fight the elite masters with their legendary cards. That part at around 1:43 (with the buildup starting around 1:21) is my favorite part of the original song, and I love how you captured the intensity of it!

Fun fact: In the TCG this comes from, against the Grandmasters (there were 4 of them) it was not possible to Card-out against them, as they each had a deck built to both prevent that and thrash you simultaneously. Oh, the music is awesome as always too!
Funny you say that because I've decked out the final one (Rod) a couple times before. His AI isnt smart enough to realize that Charizard's energy burn ability makes it so it doesnt matter what energy he has attached to it so he just doesn't do anything when it's out. Though by far the easiest one to deck out is Ronald, because he doesnt really have the energy to make use of the special Zapdos in his deck. In fact there are several duels in this game which are easier to win via deck out than to beat via prizes, such as Murray's (psychic club leader) who you can beat via deck out if you send a Rattata vs his Alakazam because it doesnt do enough damage to bypass Rattata's resistances.
@@bmac4 There's a major glitch with the AI regarding Kangaskhan. The only one that will seem to switch out if they are in dire straits of decking out is Club Leader Murray. Their AI programming wasn't the best in regards to win by deck out.

Pokemon TCG is such an underappreciated game (and soundtrack). This rendition is more awesome than the original. \0/ (edit) My only critique here is that the audio levels could have been tweaked to bring some of the subtler voices out better. I notice them, but I wonder if someone who hasn't heard the original would.
