Does the artist use fixatives to preserve the charcoal marks on the paper. Are the blacks so deep because of layers of charcoal are held by fixative. Is the paper charcoal paper or just textured paper?
Hello! I understand that Anita often works with a compressed charcoal, which gives a particularly dark mark, in addition to vine or willow charcoal. The paper is a large format of watercolour paper, I'll look into whether she uses a fixative to aid layering the charcoal to darken it :)
