If the business isn't healthy, that affects the games we get. Just like PS releasing games on PC is for the health of the business
They were always last, Microsoft takes awhile to kill hardware, they are a software company at heart, just like zune, surface, phones, they don't like to quit something even when it is losing them money, cause they have money to burn, but we don't need Xbox, Nintendo and PS were enough when I was growing up, but now PS has PC to compete, which is why PS needs to stop porting

Sony is gonna get a 30% cut from the Xbox sales. This is a win for Sony. More profit for them as no development cost to offset that extra gain. They are going to also get more of an instal base, get all games on PlayStation - excluding Nintendo.
Halo on PlayStation might not seem like a big deal to younger gamers but as somebody from the PS2/XBox era Halo on PlayStation is freaking wild!

Sega only sold 9 million dreamcasts, amd 9 million Sega Saturn, compared to 30 million xboxs. That's not great......but it's not exactly the same. Also they're the world's largest publisher, though I can see them stopping making consoles one day. It is what it is

Microsoft lacked creative and management and then tried to pull off a monopoly by acquiring big publishers by not putting in work to have the studio developers under their leisure to make proper management with the IP's which has caused the Xbox division to decline faster.
It was all intentional. MS never really wanted to be in the gaming industry with a box. They made their trillions thanks to Windows and they seem to want to go back to their software only roots.
I know it ruined them 😊
Not to mention their fans do not want to buy games.
It's a long term plan, in the near future Cloud will be the main way for casuals to play, which is the majority of gamers.
Most people will be fine paying $40 for a firestick with CoD instead of $500 or more for a console

It was all downhill after the 360 which is hard to believe, with the 360 they hand the world in their hands, great console, great games. The PS3 started badly but by the end of the gen was killing it with awesome games like Uncharted 3 and The Last Of Us and GT6.
Xbox downfall can be traced right back to the terrible launch of the Xbox One, they lost so much ground almost over night and then came Gamepass which really when you look at it was a slow kill.
I wish Xbox fans did more to support their console, it's sad to see it go, while I only game on Playstation, lack of competition isn't good for anyone in the long run.
Phil Spencer kept telling everyone just to sub to Game Pass, thus no one bought games on Xbox. Turns out Game Pass can't sustain AAA development budgets as well as paying publishers to feature games on the service. It's not like anyone pointed that out years ago...
All single player games are trash for Xbox and Sony the games may be good but single player games are just trash and boring in general to play 😂 only game that matter is cod and long as that is free in game pass I'll have a Xbox and game pass 😂😂😂 so I say sell all them 💩 games to everyone so I can keep playing for free 💯

Sadly, this will result in much less competitive edge, Xbox fans & paid journalists often say “exclusive games everywhere is a win!” But in reality it’s not, it killed the Xbox console, and now we have much less competition, meaning less choices for gamers & therefore, less overall quality, quantity & variety in the gaming landscape in general. If Sony continues its way, then they will devalue the PlayStation consoles & the will for the brand that they’ve built decades upon.
PC will always keep any console manufactured honest.

@ PC do buy games. The reason why the sales are not higher on PC than console is because PC has a massive slew of games then xbox and PS combined. As a result more choice and proper spending of money. Also what is your evidence that sony is pullout of the PC market? Exclusive content/products is what gives an identity. Now here’s the interesting part about all this: Xbox games are not only going to PlayStation but they’re looking and running better on PlayStation pro enhanced too with haptics/feedbacks and VR!

For everyone who says Sony won't have competition, there a business they want to make money and get as much market share as possible. They will always have competition in terms of other publishers, PC and Nintendo!!
The negative I can see is if Sony doesnt have a direct rival then they become lazy and complacent, we kinda see that now with the Ps5 life thus far not having the same wow factor that Ps4 did, banger after banger and an all time high of exclusives. Sony have taken their foot off the gas because there just is no competition from xbox at all.

I personally think this is where the industry is gonna go in the next 5 to 10 years. Xbox is just doing it now because they are the biggest publisher in the world and stand to make an incredible amount of money... putting mostly everything on other platforms will literally be funding game pass for Xbox console gamers which turns makes more games for everybody else.
The only questions we have is after the next generation of Xbox will there be another Xbox console but we can see the same for PlayStation as well but I think PlayStation would do the same and intern make a lot of money, but we have to wait and see

I wouldn't say Xbox is dead. If they are still trying to be a traditional console platform, then yes they are dead. But the truth is Xbox losing multiple generations has caused them to become more of a 3rd party publisher with also a console to go with their software offering. They'll be fine, but day and date releases on Gamepass is holding them back.

The problem for xbox isn't on this generation because ppl that already own an Xbox aren't going to switch consoles but for next gen they are definitely going to think if they stay or leave Xbox.
The biggest problem for playstation is gamepass is about to be stacked with massive content and the xbox player is getting all that good food day one now the issue comes in is sony isn't actually dropping big exclusives quickly enough to make ps that much worth it so now u look at both and say ok ps is getting some old xbox games that the xbox base had and played years ago already which is going to fund microsoft games/gamepass so even more games from microsoft are funded, more big ip's get brought back and even more gamepass content for the xbox player so xbox really becomes the best place to play many many games I think what sony should really do is deny all those games to their platform because it is only helping microsoft but see they may not actually have a choice but to work with microsoft.

I think if Microsoft stopped at the Bethesda buyout this would not be happening. The Activision Blizzard buyout was the turning point. $70 billion is a lot even by Microsoft standards. It made the higher ups look at ways to make the investment back; like selling their games on other platforms. With GamePass and hardware stagnant the only growth potential is bringing games to PlayStation. I think Sony should celebrate by releasing DLC to Astrobot that is a new nebula with Xbox characters.
You gotta remember Microsoft may have money but it's investor money. Investor don't like seeing money being thrown at failing division otherwise if that was the case the zune would still exist.
This is especially true with the recent revelation that over 60% of Xbox's revenue last quarter came from selling games on PS. That's money they weren't making a year ago.
And they're also helping Sony make more money since Sony gets a 30% cut of every game sold on their platform.

I can see where MS is going. Consoles don't really make alot of money. Sony will always sell consoles, it's very difficult to take market share from them as Sega saw the hard way.

Let’s put it this way: Microsoft just gave PlayStation a golden goose. Expect those PC ports to be rolled back or stopped altogether because that revenue stream can easily be replaced now with no work being involved. Exclusives matter and I’m more confident that Nishino can make it their #1 priority once again.

Xbox is becoming a third party publisher. PlayStation has a chance to course correct. They wasted half this gen on live services, PC ports, and remasters. There are hints they are changing their priorities.

Xbox as hardware could become somewhat more competitive if they add PC support to it and open up to steam/epic/gog. Not sure if they are ready for it, but a console with existing steam library working on it would definitely have an effect.
Valve is going to do that with the Steam Machine 2. Steam Deck was a test platform to adapt console-style simplicity to PC gaming via Steam OS, and it has performed much better than anyone expected. A home version is the next step.
If Xbox exists as hardware in the future, it will just as Xbox-branded Windows PC. No custom OS or components. Along with that comes no BC for past Xbox consoles (which shouldn't be a big deal since Xbox has been pushing "play everywhere" for a while now)
Why the hell would anyone buy an Xbox if you can play PS exclusive and all Xbox games on Playstation 🤣 and this could be really bad for us PS fans because Sony has no pressure on them to release great games consistently

Xbox is making considerably more money since they started publishing games on Playstation, so they have no incentive to compete with Sony as they did in the past. For Xbox, consoles have always been a loss leader (Sony and Nintendo manage to refine their manufacturing processes to sell consoles at a small profit after some time), but a loss leader console can only be justified if they can push game sales on that console. Xbox has been selling more games on PS5 than on their own hardware.
If the Microsoft leadership doesn't see value in Xbox selling hardware, they will axe hardware. It doesn't matter what Phil and the rest of Xbox leadership says. They are subservient to the Microsoft board.
Xbox should just fully embrace being a publisher. With all the rumours of Valve entering the console market it would kill any future Xbox console. People like steam and it could really rival Sony and Nintendo with games and quality of service. Let's not forget Valve do not charge for their online platform and games tend to be cheaper than both Sony's and Nintendo's stores. Plus you get playstation games which Xbox doesn't.

Companies torpedo themselves thinking they need to follow a path of “infinite growth.” Truthfully, all businesses have peaks, valleys, and stagnation. Abandoning what works, in the video game industry, to chase new trends or “a new vision” was always a huge risk, and the boom or bust proposition has mostly been a bust. That relates to both Sony AND Microsoft.

How does Phil Spencer still have a job after years of decline in the console space? Well that was the plan all along. He was put in to position to slowly transition from console to 3rd party while stringing along and transition the player base while keeping a constant flow of revenue coming in from gamepass.
I would buy a Gears remastered collection day one if it comes to ps5. Halo is ok but Gears was definitely my favorite on the 360. Those were really the only Xbox exclusives that I really remember playing.
Spencer killed Xbox. Guaranteed there won’t be another console. They are just lying if they say otherwise. I can’t believe I have to rebuild 14 years worth of a library when the ps6 comes out. I haven’t had one since the ps2.
I think there could be Xbox hardware in the future, but it won't be a real console. It would be a Xbox-branded PC, using off the shelf components, running bog-standard Windows and sold at a profit (aka not affordable like a console) Basically to gaming what the Surface laptops are to productivity.

Think of it this way, In 2024 Sony CEO said that PlayStation 1st Party Games were only at a 6% profit margin with Horizon the best selling 1st party PlayStation game at 30 million copies sold, but again at only a 6% profit margin! So Sony (Parent Company of PlayStation), CEO said he wants PlayStation 1st Party Games sold on "Other Platforms" the other Platforms meaning Nintendo, PC, Xbox! So I think after Xbox shows they will have success at selling Microsoft Xbox 1st Party Games on PlayStation, then Sony CEO will start selling PlayStation 1st Party Games on Xbox, because the Sony CEO wants more than 6% profit margin for PlayStation Games. I also think that Microsoft and Sony have a "secret" partnership in place to sell their 1st Party Games on each other's platforms! So Microsoft had to be the company to start the process to start selling their 1st Party Games on "Other Platforms."

I find it odd but Xbox recently released more single-player games than PlayStation while PlayStation wanted to focus on live service games and ended up canceling most of them. What PlayStation is lacking (single-player games) whereas Xbox is creating more games that are scheduled to release on PlayStation. Thank you, Xbox even though I am a PlayStation gamer.

Nah, Nintendo found their place with Switch which follows more in the path of their handhelds than home consoles. Nintendo's home consoles don't really have a stable success rate (each sold less than the last with the Wii being the only exception) while their handhelds have been consistently successful. In fact, I'd say Nintendo would have ceased making hardware during the GC era had they not had their handheld hardware.

As much as I don't want to admit that exclusives are no longer useful, the modern gaming landscape is not what it was. The rise of smart tech, the internet and the evolution of hardware to a level that means a law of diminishing returns (how much different is the PS4 than the PS5 really) exclusives don't have the same value they did when gaming was still niche. Nowadays it's more profitable than movies and tv combined so limiting where people can play games just means that you lose money and with budget inflation that is really not a good thing

Think Sony will eventually do day and date on PC or at the most drop on PC 6 months later to take advantage of the marketing hype
Or another option they will probably do is a sort of "shrinkflation" for games. Meaning PS customers will pay the same for 1st party game ($70) but will get way less game
Astrobot only sold like 2 million but it only takes 15 hours to play through....can see most Sony games being 10-20 hr games games going forward

The problem here is why pay 70 on playstation when you can play on xbox for a small subscription..
I'm a Playsation fan at my core.
But just got a xbox after playing gamepass on my steamdeck and I'm loving it.
The amount of games I have paid for and they turn out rubbish of Mr they are overpriced.
With gamepass it makes xbox amazing to pick up all these games cheap and use sony for big exclusives.
I believe that in mear future Xbox and Playstation will announce new tier for Ps plus, where will be xbox exclusives with day one. Maybe something similar for Switch 2.
Xbox games go to -------> PS5/Switch2, PS5/Switch 2 games do NOT go to Xbox.
Xbox owners are getting shafted. They need to just drop the Xbox/Gamepass.

Cost of having PlayStation is much higher then having Xbox. Game catalog of Xbox game pass is much better and contains AAA and AA day one releases for which you need to pay a lot on PlayStation. There is no sense to buy PlayStation as their games are also multi platform now (just coming to pc/xbox with a delay)
Thank God my wish came true. WHy i pray for this, that's happened after Microsoft buying spree with Bethesda, Obsidian, ABK and so on by threatening Playstation with their capital . Karma is a bitch , God listen to destroys the bullies .
If xbox doesn't announce their next console soon its over. They need to go full PC. Sell console but allow windows 11on the console. Then it makes sense if they go full 3rd party. Where as Nintendo and sony will be the ones compete with each other
