i generally like the simplicity of mechanical brakes and shifting.. but i have to admit the process of the wiring and and the routing of the brake hoses really made me want to have something like that to just work on. i like the process of it i guess since at this point it would almost be like working on a car without having to lay on the ground and bash your knuckles on all the steering linkage :) very cool to see the FSA group and i really hope to see them successfully find a place among sram and shimano's dominance with modular systems between group levels and specs
@@davidmoreno790 I just feel there is a time and a place for white tape, when the frame is black and red and with a black seat. Should be red or black. Fazik make some really good reds which would look awesome. All opinion though. It looks dirty after one ride to. Each there own though.
Thanks, Si, I enjoyed this and sure, the more builds the merrier. And while I have little interest in battery-powered shifting, I like learning about it because who knows, perhaps I'll have it one of these days. And it is great to have FSA in the game as, ultimately, they all make each other better.
A very nice Bike! I've been driving Pinarello for more then 30 years. My current Pinarello is an Dogma F10. This stands in my bedroom. I should have taken the white handlebar tape in gray. But that's amatter of taste. I'm retiring this year, get some cash as aseverance payment. Who knows, maybe I'll ride an f12 next spring 2022, also in red and black but with an gray handlebar tape. How time flies in the 80s, I still drove a Pinarello with a steel frame, but already with a Schimano Dura Ace. A few years latere I drove the first aluminum frame from Pinarello called Paris. In the 90s it was a mixed frame with carbon and aluminum called Prince, then the first with a full carbon frame with the typname FP6. Six Pinarello is now in all the years that I've become, a hobby racing driver and who knows, maybe there will be more. So you young people out there, enjoy the sport of racing and stay healthy. Forgive my bad English, greetings from snowy Austria.
I love a bike build as well and what a bike! That Pinarello F12 Disk is my favorite. I look forward to hearing feedback on the FSA groupset I have always used Shimano.
Always love a bike build ! The fact that the levers are using a round throwable battery is a no for me, shimano to me is still the best with only one thing to recharge with a cable ! That white bar tape is also not my taste sadly, not matching the overall bike and with UK winter, it's not going to stay white long ! Oh and i'm not to sure about your brake bleed Si, seems like there is still a lot of air inside !!! Still the bike look and must be awesome to ride !!! More bike builds please !
Shimano still uses wires instead of Bluetooth shifting. It was out-dated and antiquated within a short time of coming out, but for some reason Shimano is sticking with it. It's crazy.
@@workingguy-OU812 By using wired, there's only 1 battery that needs charging, no chance of drop outs due to signal interruption, none of the other detriments to using wireless, all for the cost of having to route a wire through your frame once. Just the single battery on its own seems like a big enough plus for me. (Not that i can afford any of it anyway).
@@gaveltron Why, it's the wave of the future! Soon we'll all give up cell phones for wall mounted phones, I'm sure. The power is there, no need to worry about batteries, so little signal loss.
Beautiful build , very well done ! Very informative ! You Checked all the boxes , but I think I would have understated the bar tape to match the grey in the wheel logos ( or of course played it safe with black lizard skins ). Right Oh ! Mate
Looks like a lot of fun to build and probably an education for many. Once together and used a while, it looks like a bear to maintain. Not a problem for the massive resources of GCN, but it would be for me. Hope I'm wrong about that. Great video, thanks.
Good job it's white bar tape, now that it's winter you'll get one ride and have to replace it because it's too dirty to clean, then you can put a clean black tape on for the rest of the season
@@mrm95 Yes, it's old school. Back in the day, the team mechanic would re-tape the handlebars every race day. The white seat would also give the bike more old-school look too. Kinda cool.
Great vid. I can attest to this, as I have built three bikes over the past two years, however there was one thing missing. Beer!! (a few sips between each screw just makes the build that much better).
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I have never seen such a complex system assembled on a bike before, and understand better now the price tag for that technology. For those of you complaining about it being an advertisement, of course it is. GCN folk need to feed their families and grow their business. It is awesome! It would look pretty SUPER NICE with a white saddle n bottle cages to compliment the beautiful build, food for thought.... Great bike great video 👍👍
Who are these freaks that give this videa a thumbs down? Lonely, angry and jealous peeps I suppose. What a sweet looking ride. How long would it take a true bike mechanic to put that together do you recon? Not that Simon is um, not a pro... just a guestimate.
Great vid Si - great kit and a beautiful frame but I must agree with a lot of folk on here making the observation that the white tape doesn't work. Sorry! However, as far as I'm concerned, that's the only negative. Chapeau.
Quote of the season "we just happened to have a Pinarello Dogma frame laying around"
Hahah
I recon if I look hard enough with my credit card I could find one too
Haha 😂😂😂
Omg yeah right

More builds please. That's was good. Seriously doubting your choice in white bar tape though. Red or black would have been a better choice IMO.
I KNOW!, right?.... Whoever likes that gawd-awful WBT(white bar tape) is a wanker.... Oh, wait, this is GCN. They're ALL wankers....

What a great build Edwin, you're a lucky guy!

Awesome final product. Great video as usual!
Awesome vids. I'd like to see more bike build vids like this. The white bar tape though :)
Hot - hot - hot !! (all the way up until the application of white bar tape, and then it went awry!).
