The way you cut that fringe was perfect. A handmade piece is best when it has those little touches that show you really did it by hand. I loved this tutorial. You're my new crochet favorite. Thanks Nicky!
Nicky, I'm so happy I found your channel! I started back crocheting in Oct 2023. After 50yrs Hiatus. Look forward to more videos! Thank you I'm now a Subscriber! ❤️🥰😍
Thank you so very much! That is a lengthy crochet hiatus... but, then again, time does fly and years pass by in a blink. Was it like riding a bike and you remembered most everything or was it more like starting from scratch? Either way, I'm impressed! Happy crocheting! 🧶 💕
@NickyBlade Well From age 12 then started back at 65. It actually came back. I was Blessed to find BOD Crystal's. I relearned everything I needed from her great Tutorials. But, now im glad I found your Channel, it's laid back and very appealing to me. I like your style. I'm gonna head back to bed. I woke up from sleep and noticed you had commented to my comment. Look forward to what you have planned. But, Oh I'm still a Beginner...lol I'd love to be much more Crochet Inclined. Thank you See you soon!❤️
OMG! I love this. I crochet to relax. I’ve been working on a wave scarf, nothing relaxing about it. I am abandoning it immediately and starting this. Thank you
Thank you so much! 😊 I'm also guilty of abandoning projects... but if i have a ton of time into a project, I set it aside and work on it occasionally when I feel like being tortured. 😂 I typically have three or four projects going at a time. It helps prevent burnout. Happy scarf making! 🧶 💕
Nicky, you hold the yarn in your left hand exactly like I do. I’ve watched hundreds of videos & have never seen anyone do that. I even tried to change the way I hold it thinking there must be a better way. Most with pointer finger out. I couldn’t change. lol. Love the scarf going to make it to match a hat I had made. Going to check out your other videos. Anyway, just had to tell you.
I'm so happy that you commented about this! I've never met another crocheter who holds everything like I do. I've also tried to switch how I hold the yarn and I've tried to switch how I hold the hook. Nope, I can't change either. 😂 Also, thank you! I'm so happy that you like the scarf! 💕
You do a great job of explaining each step. That set turned out beautiful, I had previously watched the tutorials on the hat and pom-poms. Great job with the colors.
Hi Nicky!! OMG I love this scarf so much....Such an easy pattern that I can use any colors I wish. Thank you so much for sharing. I will be making one of these in Detroit Lions colors, and the hat Tutorial also. The stitches look beautiful on it, with it just being such an easy stitch. ~ Kari
Thank you for this tutorial. I love the scarf and hat set and the stitch is easy and looks so pretty. If you have a rotary cutter and ruler, you can try using them to cut the fringe evenly. I wish I could use them on my bangs when I try cutting my own!
@NickyBlade You're welcome I just did not like your video when it kept on starting back up and I really had a very hard time hearing as you were talking
@ShdonnaBolden Hi! I'm sorry to hear you had difficulty with the audio. I'm not sure what you mean by "it kept on starting back up." Could there have been an issue with your internet connection?
Love this and your hat so much. I have finished both (my scarf without fringe. Love the look of it but not the wearing of it :-)) Thank you for these tutorials.
That is such a pretty scarf. I love a thick fringe on a scarf, so I have found that using a latch hook from a hooked rug Kit works great. It keeps those little guys from jumping off the hook! Enjoyed the video very much.
Hi! So, I really have no idea how many chains or stitches. That's what is nice about making a scarf like this... no counting! Just measure how long you want it and crochet that length. 😊
Thank you! I'm somewhat guessing at how much yarn my scarf took... The hot orchid color was a 7oz skein and I used about a quarter of it. The sunset color was a 5oz skein and I used the whole thing. I think it started out as a full unused skein, but I'm not 100% sure. 🙃
Hello! I just found you! Great easy patterns and I am enjoying making this scarf along with you I have never seen anyone holding the hook and yarn like you do. Is it how you were taught or because of arthritis,? My hands and joints are so swollen and many days I just can't hold my hook and yarn. I'm 74 , BTW. In the background of your video sounds like cars or trucks going by. Are you close to the hiway? Sounds like your window is open? Just wondering!
Hi! How I hold my hook is just how it feels natural to hold it. I've tried to hold it differently, but it didn't work for me. I do have arthritis. I'm not sure if maybe that's why I hold it how I do. And, yes, I live on a busy street... also near train tracks, so you may hear a train occasionally as well. But, my windows are closed because it's freezing outside. 😊
New subscriber to your channel. I haven’t crocheted anything yet but I think I will attempt this pattern. Why was chain row a different hook size? In all the videos I have been watching, the same size hook was used throughout. Not sure what a half double crochet is but will look up that stitch. I really liked your yarn choices. Thanks for sharing. Would the hat you mentioned be okay for a novice?
Hi! Many crocheters (myself included) chain tighter than we crochet. If your chain row is tight, your project will get wider and wider as you add rows with your looser crochet stitches... it might only be a couple inches and not be very noticeable, or (especially with a larger project like an afghan) it could grow several inches wider and be very noticeable. Using a larger hook makes the chain larger/looser and normally resolves this. My hat pattern uses chain stitches, single crochet, and half double crochet. If you're able to do those stitches, you should be able to make the hat too. 😊
@@NickyBlade Wow, I am already learning some great tips from you also. I loved doing the chain this way and it was my first time doing it this way and you are right, it was easy to make the foundation row in the back hump since we went up a size just for the chain.
I'm somewhat guessing at how much yarn my scarf took... The hot orchid color was a 7oz skein and I used about a quarter of it. The sunset color was a 5oz skein and I used about the whole thing. I think it started out as a full unused skein, but I'm not 100% sure. 🙃

Hello! Does anyone know if the chain 2 counts as a stitch? I'm not sure if i go into the very first stitch or the second when starting row 2. Thank you so much! 😊
@NickyBlade thank you so much for a speedy response! I appreciate it. I am really enjoying your channel after it came up on my suggestions! Great job! 😊
There is a way to tie the yarn without weaving, look up, connecting yarn or even if is the same color and you ran out of yarn and you can add the next yarn, and that way you don’t have to leave any hands in the middle of the scarf.
Yes, some people tie… but it’s my luck that I’d be the one in a million knots that would come out. You can also crochet over the ends as you’re making your item. But, weaving guarantees those ends will never come out. 😊
Hi! When making a scarf for a specific person, I measure from fingertip to fingertip (which is also about the same as the person's height). But I don't worry about being exact. A few inches long or short isn't going to make a difference. I've never made a scarf for a small child but I looked it up and the general consensus is no longer than 3 feet for a three year old to reduce the risk of it getting caught in something. People also suggested a hooded cowl instead of a scarf for children under three. 😊

Hi! It's a Fiskars self healing cutting mat and I'm pretty sure I bought it at Walmart. They carry a few different sizes. ☺️

You should always use the working end to make a slip knot!! That way it will not loosen on you while you are working!!
Thank you! Yes, we probably should. I don't always. 🙃
Would 5 feet long be an average adult I was thinking maybe 2 feet 2 1/2 feet for a two or three-year-old
