Easy Crochet Hat Tutorial
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 дня назад
A simple crochet hat tutorial consisting of chain stitches, single crochet, and half double crochet. I have uploaded a printable pdf of the pattern as a free download on my Ravelry account. For some reason, I'm unable to add a clickable link. I apologize for that and as soon as I'm able, I will add a link. Until then, I am also NickyBlade on Ravelry... so it shouldn't be too difficult to find. ...

Where did you purchase those acrylic cubes with doors? I need some of those for my yarn.
Beautiful job I love the way you made a Pom Pom ❤
What a great way to reassure that those fringes do not come out!! Thank you for this GREAT tutorial!! (and I WILL be making the matching hat to go with it!! Thank you!!🧶🧶🧶 Happy New Year 🎉
Thank you so much! Happy hat making! 🧶 😊
Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
I would love to have your written instructions for your hat. So cute!!!!
Hi! I created and uploaded the free pdf to Ravelry earlier today. I'm also NickyBlade on Ravelry.
Love this pattern. The hat looks so cute.
Thank you so much! 😊
As a small channel I like to support other channels ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Very pretty!!!
Thank you! 😊
THANK U! NAME OF THE COLOR YARN PLEASE🫶🏻🇵🇷
The yarn is Hobby Lobby I love this yarn in the colors Sunset and Hot Orchid. 😊
Thank you for your free pattern
You're welcome! 😊
I've made two similar hats with slip stitches at the top; very tight! Love the way you handled the color change. I'd be happy to pay for a pattern for this hat, should you decide to publish one.
Thank you! I created and uploaded the free pdf pattern to my Ravelry account today. I'm also NickyBlade on Ravelry. 😊
As a new crocheter I appreciate the repetitive instructions. Also clear and concise video. I really like that the hat does NOT have a gathered bunch of fabric on the top. A really pretty hat ,,,,well done.
Thank you so much! It's super encouraging to hear that my videos are helpful! Especially to those who are learning. Happy hat making! ☺️
And you definitely need hats and Watertown. I live in Syracuse so I know where you come from.
Brrrr... It's still freezing where I live now... but it's not as bad as northern NYS. So, I can't complain. 😁
Yes. A pattern would be great.
Hi! I have created and uploaded a free pdf to my Ravelry account... I am also NickyBlade on Ravelry.
Excellent tutorial. New subscriber and looking forward to seeing more tutorials. I'd love a written pdf pattern. Thank you
Thank you so much! I'm working on the pdf pattern and will update the video description with a link when it's published. 😊
Hi Nicky…….Wow what an awesome idea of gluing each wrap to secure the yarn. The reason why I stopped making my own PomPoms was bc the strands would come out & I hated that. Have you tried other types of fabric glue before or do you just prefer this Tulip paint better? Thanks so much for sharing and I’m going back to making my own PomPoms again!! Yay so excited! 🙌🧶🙌 Have a great day! 😊🧶🦋💜
Hi! And thank you so much! 😊 The Tulip Slick is the only glue/paint I've tried with pompoms. The fabric glues that I use in my sewing projects are a bit stinky/fumy and also dry pretty fast... so in my opinion, I don't think fabric glue would be the best option. I'm guessing that other brands of puff paints made specifically for clothing that will be washed would work, but I've only ever used the tulip slick. So, that's the one I recommend because I know it works. (You can also paint a design on the bottoms of crochet slippers to make them non-slip! 🙃) Have fun making pompoms! ☺️
Hi Nicky……New Subscriber here from Tennessee……nice to meet you and welcome to the crochet yarny community! 😊🧶😊 Love your hat pattern as I prefer this style hat versus in the round. I agree making hats in the round doesn’t have enough stretch to fit variety of people. Question…..using I Love This Yarn you mentioned going up a hook size…..instead of using a 5mm (H) would you use a 5.5mm or 6mm hook? I know to go up a size for the chain as well but for the body of the hat do you consider going up a hook size to a half size 5.5mm or a whole size 6mm? Hope that makes sense? 😂 Thank you for sharing……looking forward to more content!! Good Luck with growing your channel!! Have a great day & Happy New Year. 😊🧶🦋💜
Hi! Thank you so much for the welcome and well wishes. 💕 Thank you for pointing out about whether a letter size is a full hook size difference... I know people who refer to it both ways. So, I'll be more specific in the future and state the actual hook rather than just saying "go up a hook size." 😊 I'll be testing the 5.5mm hook eventually... the 5mm with Hobby Lobby yarn was just the tiniest bit snug on my average head and honestly, I don't think most people would even notice. A whole different ballgame, but if I am making a hat for someone who specifically has a larger than average head, I normally stick with the 5mm hook and add an extra 4 rows (rows 5-8) while also increasing the stitch count for the hdc by 6 stitches each row. One time, I added all 8 rows (rows 1-8) and 12 hdc stitches to each row for an XXL hat. I hope I explained this so it makes sense. 😂 I hope you have a great day also! ☺️
Thank you for sharing! Your videos are clear, easy to follow, and thorough!
Thank you for commenting! I appreciate the feedback. 😊
Good job, can you please send me one
Thank you! There just aren't enough hours in a day for me to make extra hats... the best I can do is try to help everyone make their own. (I know you were probably joking. I'm overly literal. It's my major flaw. lol) 💕
Throughly enjoyed watching thisnvideonasmive never seen a pom pom made before. However, I had a hard time hearing you. Also, how do you attach the pom poms to the hats? And where did you get your pom pom maker?
Thank you! For my hats, I permanently sew the pom pom on...but I have seen people tie them to a button on the inside of the hat so the pom pom is removable. I bought my pompom maker on amazon. It's the Clover extra large. Also, I apologize for the audio and appreciate you letting me know. 😊
@NickyBlade absolutely! Thank you for such detailed videos. I really appreciate it because I'm a visual learner, so I need these longer videos so I know exactly what I'm doing and if I'm doing it correctly
This maybe a really dumb question and I apologize ahead of time. It's 5 in the morning so I'm up watching crochet videos. But I would assume if you didn't want a multi colored hat just keep on crocheting without the color changing where you did? I've never made a hat before so I just need specific details and I'm still so new to crochet even thought I've done it for years.
Good morning! Yes, you can absolutely make a solid color hat by simply skipping the color changes.
So nice to see a creator crochet the same way i do- pencil grip and your methods (larger hook to chain, using back loops of chain, etc.) , (even though I'm left-handed.) Maybe my mom taught you too, lol.! I will be watching for future videos. Thanks for video that makes sense 😀 👍 Happy New Year
Thank you for commenting! That is so sweet that you learned from your mom. Passing on skills like that is such a precious gift. My grandma taught me to chain stitch when I was young and that was my first introduction to yarn. 💕😊
Good tutorial. Yes I would like a written pattern.
Thank you! I will update the video description with a link once I've finished it and got it uploaded. 😊
I’m new at crochet I would like a written pattern too
Hi! I've created and uploaded the free pdf pattern to my Ravelry account. I'm also NickyBlade on Ravely. 😊
Can't find it Nicky
Oh so you are a new RUclips creator! Best wishes… I’m bad about designing and not writing things down!! Everything I do and give as gifts, especially afghans are one of a kinds! Hope you do well with your channel!!❤️🌹💯
Thank you for the encouraging words! I appreciate it. Yes, I'm very new to video and RUclips and learning as I go. I do keep notes when creating things with crochet that I know I'll want to make again, but I've only written out a proper pattern that others could follow a handful of times. I think I'll need to start doing that more often. 😊
❤nice to see your tutorial! Look forward to listening to the whole video!!❤❤
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it! 😊
Hi new sub! Love this hat tutorial, at the end you said if you were to make it again with the I Love This Yarn from hobby lobby, you would go up a hook size. does that mean on the brim you would start with a 6.5mm or 7mm hook, and for the hat part a 5.5mm or 6mm hook? Thanks
Hi! Thank you! The larger hook size is used to make the starting chain… after you chain your 47 stitches, you’ll only be using the smaller hook for both the brim and hat colors. But, yes, if going up a hook size for the hat, then you should also go up a hook size for the starting chain. Many people (myself included) struggle with chain stitches being tighter than our actual crochet work… always chaining with a size or two larger hook tends to eliminate the issues that come with chaining too tight. 😊
Thanks for sharing your talent with us! I'm happy to be your 78th subscriber. I can't wait to see what you have next to share. Your tutorials are very clear and easy to follow. I will be making this hat a lot. Do you have more hat patterns you could do videos for? I live in northern Minnesota, and warm hats are always needed at the local charities. ❤
Thank you so much! I will be doing a tutorial for a scarf that matches this hat in the near future. Currently, this is my only hat pattern… It’s worked well for me for so many years that I hadn’t considered making another. But, when I do, there will definitely be a tutorial! It’s always so nice to meet a fellow charity crafter!
Which one is it? You got 16 hb crochet? And you have 19 hb crochet there to?
16 hdc for the brim color, then 19 (or 22 depending on which row you’re on) of the hat color. I divided it based on the color changes.
I Love your hat. What colorway are you using if you don't mind sharing? I love doing back loops only. I'm subscribed to your channel.
Thank you so much! The yarn is "I love this yarn" brand in the colors Sunset and Hot Orchid.
Oh! I meant to also say... Back loop only in half double crochet is a favorite of mine as well!
Just found your channel. Will be making you hat I like going vertical rather the usual way in circles. Please do more projects,I like your style.❤
Thank you so much! Will definitely be adding more projects!
Maybe a dumb question, but once you finish row eight, how do you start those eight rows again? ( skipping those four and whatnot?)
Row nine will be a repeat of row one (the row we worked into the starting chain) into the back loops only of the 8th row... and you've got it exactly right! You'll skip the end stitches the same way we left the chain spaces to pick up later on a future row.
@NickyBlade thank you for responding. Most designers or RUclips tutorialists do not.
Thank you as well! I appreciate questions! Knowing when there is something I should explain better is very helpful, and hopefully, my future tutorials will benefit from that.
loving it so far, still learning
Thank you! Crochet is such a rewarding craft and there are endless possibilities of things you can create! 😊
Very good, thank you. Looking forward to more learning.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback! 😊
Awesome hat. Looking forward to more tutorials. Love the colorway. Can you share the yarn brand and colorway. I'm subscribed to your channel!
Thank you! The yarn is "I love this yarn" brand in the colors Sunset and Hot Orchid.
Great tutorial Look forward to many more. 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! ☺️
Very cute hat! You make it look easy!
Thank you! The best part about RUclips is being able to pause and rewind as much as needed… I hope everyone finds this tutorial helpful. 😊
Wow you have an amazing talent here!
Thank you! ☺️
That’s neat… I mean a-maze-ing!
Thank you! 😊
That loom thing does look like a Barbie bed. 😂
It really does! lol
Tassels are cool!
I totally agree!
I’d live there if it was life size and wasn’t missing a wall! 😊
