I am one of those that are Loyal To Royal. I am a Diamond (will be Diamond + in September) and I don’t drink a lot, but my husband enjoys my drink coupons. I LOVE the loops on the towels and my husband thought I was crazy when I showed him how excited I was about them. I will replay that part of this video for him to see I am not the only one. I’ve been on 5 other cruise lines and Royal and Celebrity are my favorites and they have a matching of status for both so that is a plus!

I am glad that you are experiencing many of the same things that draw my wife and I to Royal. We currently prefer the smaller ships for a number of reasons such as itineraries (they can dock in locations larger ships would have to tender or skip altogether) and expressly the lack of ice rinks, roller coasters, water slides and the like. Our opinions will no doubt evolve as our grandchild(ren) get to be of cruising age but we currently fall in the "Loyal to Royal" camp. As I recall you are flipping down to FL soon, safe travels!

One of my favorite new additions to Royal is the E-muster process. Long gone are the days of standing in the hot sun with your lifejacket on, waiting for a final count of all passengers at their muster stations. I think Royal has truly mastered this process and changed the whole feel of cruise day 1 by making coming up with the E-muster drill. We cruise exclusively on Royal. Maybe other cruise lines are doing something similar? Personally, I think it's a game changer!

I think Royal has a reputation (stereotype) for catering to younger families with their amusement-park-like giant ships. I haven’t been on an RCL ship yet but if/when I do it will be on a smaller one. Their huge ships don’t appeal to me: higher cost for amenities I wouldn’t use. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will be building anymore of their smaller ships, so eventually they will be gone.

    • @30AndAWakeUp

Hi guys! What is interesting is a lot of the very scenic places like the Norwegian fjords are starting to restrict the size of ships. So it will be interesting if any cruise lines end up building new smaller ships that can do those types of cruises.

I have never sailed on a Royal Caribbean ship bigger than Voyager class. However, it seems like the Oasis class is so enclosed with everything facing inward limited sea views, even the promenade is enclosed on the Oasis class and Quantum class with lifeboats. So, for me it is not so much about the size of those two classes of ships, it is the lack of connection with the sea. I've read many reviews about it feels more like a land vacation then a cruise vacation.

I have to admit that I hadn't considered Royal because of the enormous ships, crowds and too many kids. But seeing that there are smaller ships and that you seem it at the same level as Princess, I may have as another look. I'd prefer alternative ports that don't have thousands of cruisers jamming in all at once. By the way, I ran across your video that mentioned Malta. I looked on Airbnb and I am very intrigued. Love your video! Definitely loyal to Royal, but only because it works for the hubs and me. No one line is right for everyone. We have our frufru coffee and the solarium. When the inner child busts out, we hit the water slides and rock climbing walls. Schooner bar at night, early mornings at the windjammer and gym. Ahhhh, love Royal. hahaha We are young 40's and joke that we may some day graduate to Celebrity. We do get the investor obc. We have never gotten military discounts or benefits yet. If you ever get back to Coco Cay, try the tallest slide. It's so stupid fun- hubby screamed like a little girl going down it. All that said, our kids are like, meh, to cruising. LOL Cheers mate!

As a woman cut makes a huge difference, so we will see how they compare to REI, Six Moons Design and Smartwool. I read that CoCo Cay is really over used and the ecosystem is not real healthy. @@deanawagner-w5z yes, had a great time on the Jewel. Very easy to get around, you can get from the back buffet to the front Solarium in less than 5 minutes, unlike the larger ships. The adult solarium is really nice on this ship, with an indoor pool, & even has a park cafe there (no Central Park here) with the same great sandwiches, salads, etc. Centrum was where most of the fun nitely entertainment was, like the disco nite, etc. Luv the movie theatre - showed every movie about 3x each day. The crew was so helpful & friendly. The Wi-Fi was much better in the common lounges & areas than in our cabin or balcony, where it was on & off. And dinners were good in the MDR, same menus as the others, but very short lines to get in & fast service.Have a great time !!
