Classic Crowded House, classic pop rock like it used to be - superb quality, emotions, vibe. Congrats Neil and guys, you made one of the best pop songs in last 20 years. Truly masterpiece. ❤
I couldn’t agree more. I find it shocking how unheard and underrated CH and Neil’s solo and collabs are in the U.S. what a shame not miss out on such beauty.
One of the best gigs i went was 1992 bradford st georges hall. Crowded house with tim finn as support act. Tim came out first, then neil and tim then crod3d house doing the woodface album...a fantastic night...paul hester trying to share some beer and chocolate cake with the people on the balcony was a funny if not messy moment...great memories
This song is quite the lighthouse to illuminate the dark waters of our age. A million candles of light shining a clear passage over the waves. Neil is such a brilliant kid!
I was just about to say, this song is quite the lighthouse to illuminate the dark waters of our age. A million candles of light shining a clear passage over the waves. Neil is such a brilliant kid!
That exact comment was made a couple months ago by “michaelkennedy8270” on their OH HI music video. Either you two are bots or you’re just a lame person who swiped the comment for clout. Either way: lame.
Neil understands/navigates major to minor chords almost as effortlessly as McCartney. This may not be very peak CH but it is so great to hear... And on 2nd listen, heck, it sounds even better...
I have just fallen in love with this song. I had the pleasure of seeing CH in Paso Robles and was so delighted to see so many fellow fans. Thank you Crowded House for a lifetime of great music.
Was thinking the same. I wonder if he did the album cover - looks like it could be him, though I can't quite tell without it being in color (I feel like he has a certain way of using color and shade).
I remember when videos were first coming out (MTV etc) and thinking, I'm "hearing" music differently now. Firstly, this video is fab. Secondly, listening to the song on good headphones and NOT watching the video, the song is Super Fab!!!
I feel Elroy is really channeling Paul Hestor's drumming with the cocktail drum kit here. You can hear Paul in his drumming quite a lot. I really like this song. To me this is the single. Oh Hi didn't really land like this with me. Still my favorite band for decades.
I heard Neil on a podcast the other day saying how Paul Hester had taught Elroy how to play the snare drum with brushes so I guess it's perfectly possible that he could have taught him other stuff on the drums too🤔
Crowded House still going strong. This song is amazing. Neil Finn is truly one of the greatest songwriters and musicians ever. And now he plays with his sons, whom are great musicians in their own right. A father looking so blissfully happy with his sons jamming by his side, makes me so happy myself. I love you Finns! Sending you love from Boston!
Love this! Crowded House you are the best - always lift us up & give us the uplifting songs to keep us at our best- not in the doldrums! Enjoy your tours - gonna be magic 🎉✨🎶🇬🇧❤😊✨🌟
Never gonna happen, and I'm totally okay with that. The Rock Hall is a cheesy institution and, like the Oscars, a lot of it comes down to politics and campaigning. Nobody should put much faith in it
Saw them over 35 years ago at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara. Just bought tickets for their September show at Vina Robles Theatre. Beyond excited!
I cant believe that im so damn lucky... to live in a time where a band that split up before i was born is releasing new music. Next Melbourne concert you can trust that ill be front row whatever it takes. Neil Finn you truly are a musical and lyrical genius, one for the ages...
Agree with the positive comments. Unsure at first listen but loving it now. Love the beat and the thumping drums that remind of the Hester years. Three concerts in one week in June
This song gets better and better each time I hear it. It's like a conversation with God. "Want to be near you, care for you But I can’t get close enough I wanted to break through Life's imitation." So good.
Wow. This song is just vintage crowded house. I've been such a fan of "Crowded House 2.0" since the reunited. "Dreamers are Waiting" is an amazing album. This new song proves they are still songwriting juggernauts. Cannot wait for the new album.
This is a beautiful song with lush arrangements that allow every member to display their skills. Nick's bassline is superb, Elroy is simply a Master, Mitchell's subtle but crucial parts, and of course the World Tag-Team Champions 'Neil and Liam'... what more can we ask for? Crowded House are THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most original track since ‘together alone’ and the best since ‘Time on Earth’. This is outstanding. Makes you wonder what influences and inspires such a shake up. The last album blended into irrelevance with its dullness. I’m surprised and so bloody happy ❤
This song's structure is quite original. You're eager for the "teenage summer" line, the obvious hook, to come but you have to wait till the end of the song though it does fit at many points of the tune, but not coming yet. That's the magic of Neil's songwriting, he's one of a kind. Don't know why, but this song took me to "Distant sun" landscapes, now that I watch the video, more evident this feeling.
Ive been a fan for over 30 years and just took my son to see the band live last week. He loved it. This song is absolutely amazing, even better on headphones. Feels like a love letter to someone I really miss from years ago.
Uawww,Uawwww !!! Excellent song! The sound, melody 🎶 Pure pure Crowded ❤ The video is very Cool, simple and with a deep musical connection 😎 return to the Cowded House essence. Congrats 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Who Remembers the Farewell to the World 1996 concert which was released on video in 1996 and on CD and DVD in 2006. The concert was recorded on the outside steps of the Sydney Opera House, as a charity event to raise funds for the Sydney Children's Hospital. Epic then Epic NOW! 🤓

Totally agree! Can't stop listening to it! Great that they're going to tour.
Sharper than the last album. Very nice.
Teenage summer vs Middle-age winter 🎉❤😮😊
😊😊p
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Neil Finn is the greatest songwriter of our time.
Absolutely and very underrated ❤
And you're right 😊
No debate on that one. ❤
💯
I couldn’t agree more.
I find it shocking how unheard and underrated CH and Neil’s solo and collabs are in the U.S.
what a shame not miss out on such beauty.
I've had that Teenage Summer. It was 1991. The Woodface album was the soundtrack. I was in full Pursuit. This song captures that time perfectly.
Wow wunderschön, ich kann hören was du meinst, 🌈
Me too, l met my husband in 91 when l was 16. Married now to him, 3 kids and l still love Crowded House. This song fills me with such nostalgia 😊
Feels like a callback to the old Crowded House music videos.
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
Is it real or a fiction of your mind? Beautiful🌠
I said the same as I was watching (with a grin on my face the whole time)…then I scrolled to see your comment 🙂
Agree 💯 but so sad Paul Hester is no longer here huh? 😢
@@NeiceyDI thought the same thing!
It's nice to see Neil's head attached to his body. 😊
😂
Yeah, that video was unsettling. 😄
😉
I don’t understand the first comment, can you explain, thank you
@@humbertouseche4510 Their previous video, "Oh Hi", features a semi-animated version of Neil's head on a kid's body.

I’m loving the good ol’ Neil guitar dance at 1:47-1:52🥰🥰🥰

Great comment - yes!
McCartney calls Neil the greatest living lyricist
@@barr86Although Neil is certainly an amazing songwriter. It is an urban myth however that McCartney ever said that…. He never!! 2:15
The video gives me Distant Sun vibes. Such a gorgeous, lush and uplifting song. So pumped for the new album!
Crowded House music, YES, play me.l. 35 (or so) years ago, when we all were young.
This brings back memories of Crowded House and their album Woodface, which seems like yesterday, but is a different lifetime!! Still makes me smile.
Yes!! The harmonies are perfection on Woodface! I was smiling all the way through this too☺️
I love this, you never disappoint, your songwriting skills are sublime, classic crowded house!
Sublime perfectly describes it ❤
I have just fallen in love with this song. I had the pleasure of seeing CH in Paso Robles and was so delighted to see so many fellow fans. Thank you Crowded House for a lifetime of great music.
Fell in love with Crowded House during a teenage summer🌠
thats cool. i get it
I heart this song so much! I’m going to learn the chords now and try and do a cover with my friend Karl!
Same here. '86 was it? Don't Dream it's Over.
Absolutely! 1986, age 17. Haven’t stopped.
Samesies ❤❤
Enjoying this song the more I hear it, the 12 string strum at the beginning is a nice lead in. Looking forward to hearing the new album next month!
Neil said the song was called "Lifes Imitation" until Liam's young son told him "Papa, I like that Teenage Summer song!" Gotta go with the Grandson❤
This has to be Nick’s artwork… always wonderful
Was thinking the same. I wonder if he did the album cover - looks like it could be him, though I can't quite tell without it being in color (I feel like he has a certain way of using color and shade).
@BassByTheBay Yes, Nick said he did the artwork for the album's cover.

Beautifully reminiscent of early CH days both musically and the images/feel of the video. Makes my heart happy
Love this song and Nick’s nod to his signature Crowded House artwork ♥️🔥

Incredible Band. Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Couldn't agree more. Travesty.
Right? Where's the campaign? Why isn't Eddie Vedder spearheading the effort?
They are in the Australian Rock Hall of Fame
Never gonna happen, and I'm totally okay with that. The Rock Hall is a cheesy institution and, like the Oscars, a lot of it comes down to politics and campaigning. Nobody should put much faith in it
Ain't nothing better than those CH harmonies and the brilliance of Neil's words and melodies. ❤❤❤
💯 😊

I can't remember when I've heard such a good, new song ! 10/10
Neil's voice always sends me to heaven..
Saw Crowded House last night in Chch. Fantastic. This was my favorite of their new album.. Well done to all involved. Kiwi cult classic band!

Yes, this is how it goes when you're feeling it. Waking up to your texts. Heart beats like a drum that dizzy feeling that you get.
This song is more Crowded House than Crowded House itself
Ja🎉😊so wahr💓💝🌈💖✨
You still write a great song Neil.
Going to be great to hear Crowded House live for the first (and 2nd) time on this tour in NZ

Liking the new album. So good to hear good new music with interesting lyrics. I was spoiled growing up in the 80's and 90's.
Sois fantásticos, la banda sonora desde mi adolescencia y de toda mi vida! ❤🎉

Love it. Still as fresh as can be and vocals are seasoned that have not changed from impeccable sweetness.
I love the harmonies on this
If you get the chance - hear them live
I agree! Sounds more like original CH again 😍
Wowza, this is rather reminiscent of the original and real Crowded House videos. Superb 🎉
remarkable, shared and shared again, magical
Second listen I smiled at the chorus involuntarily, that’s how I knew this was back to the old Crowded House
All the CH feels love love 👌

I like the melody of this song, and the harmonies. Very much looking forward to the new album.
