I had the 900N, and the Bass is CRAZY. Now I have the XM3, and it’s much better in sound quality and comfort, but the bass was just something else on the 900Ns
@@fadyatef1830 I’d say definitely the XM3. The bass gets close with some EQ in the Sony Headphones connect app. The comfort, overall sound quality and noise cancelling is better on them. The 900N had bad comfort imo (too hot too quickly). Noise cancelling feature sometimes seemed as though it didn’t work but it was on
I just upgraded and I can really tell the difference, i like the sound better than the 900n, also they feel a lot better made based on durability and quality on the material..Also very much more comfortable than the 900n…They’re both great but the 910n feels more complete and well made

One really useful thing that is underappreciated about wear sensor is that the headphones shut down automatically when you don't have them on your head. My previous headphones, the xm3s had this problem. I would often take them off and forget to power down and they would continue using up battery. My xm4s though, just shut down when I don't have them on, which is really cool for me.
I just got my 900ns a few days ago :) watching your plethora of 900n comparisons helped me make a decision so relieved that I went for these and not the soundcore q30s (which were priced similar when I got the 900ns) gotta say the purchase was worth it,the sound quality,the bass which is so well presented with adequate mids,the build quality and great fit with the great sony eq app (excited preset is crazy man) makes the overall experience so damn good These make me realise what I was missing out on my cans so far (Sennheiser hd 4.4bt and a mid range jbl t series) the music is so lively now thanks again :D
Wait how do these compair to the on ear 3 ones? I forget the exact modle for those something like WN something and I'm sure WH was part of there moddle too and the 910 number seems to ring a bell. I know people also called those I'm talking about the WH on ear 3s.
just bought my xb910n today and it is really cool actually, it is not a low profile like the recent one but doesn't matter, the extra bass, sound quality, and other features are cool too!

I exclusively used the 950N1's from when they dropped as a black friday deal for just $100 maybe like 5 years ago when they first came out. They have been my favorite headphones forever, just upgraded to the Bose QC-45 for flights/work just for the better noise cancelling. I was so ready to pick up the 910N but the lack of physical buttons is a big turn off for me. I absolutely hate touch sensitive controls where they aren't necessary. I will still be rocking with the 950N1s whenever I am just jammin to music. LOVE the Extra Bass!

Agree 200%. The XB950 is the best sounding xtra bass headphones. I can go from Rap and Trance to Country and Christian music and it sound awesome in every way. I bought the Sony 910 and returned it the same day. I'm rocking Skullcandy Crusher series now because only the Crusher line can provide the oomph like the Sony XB950 when needed in Rap, Trance, Trap, R&B, EDM and still sound good with Country, Christian music, New Age, Classical, Jazz. Sony is just hype and branding IMO.
The XB900N we're my go to headphones for 2 years until I decided to get the XM4s last month. On a budget? If you catch a sale on the XB900N do not hesitate.
Something I had also noticed, the width of sound operates differently between the 900Ns and 910Ns. Frankly, I think it's better on the 900Ns, since it allows treble to have the same widths as the bass. on the 910Ns, it seems almost isolated.

I've used the MDR-XB950B1, MDR-XB950N1 and the WH-XB900n and what stood out to me is how the ANC on the 900 seems like a downgrade from the ANC on the 950. The lack of physical button is also what drove me to keep daily driving my 950N1 (I do still keep the 900n around as spare) Also Passively the 950N1 sounds WAY better than the 900n When wired and turned off the 900n sounds like dogshit when the 950 just sounds like a normal pair of basic headphones powered down
I agree with you on the part where if you turn off the headphones and use 3.5 mm jack it actually sounds like a cheap broken headphone with loose jack. I got sony wh h910m
Nothing beats the Sony XB950. The 900 and 910 are failure upgrades IMHO. I have moved to Skullcandy Crusher's series and they seem to be better at providing the bass when I need the oomph. Listening to Trap, EDM, Trance and Rap sound awesome with Skullcandy because the Sony lacks the oomph. Also listening to Country, New Age, Classical and Christian music also sounds good on Skullcandy. Overall, ever since Sony stopped making the XB950, Skullcandy is the choice.

Omg I'm trying to replace my mdr-xb950n1 but nothing seems to meet my needs quite as well. I like bass but also good overall sounds quality. I tried the skullcandy crushers for a bit and the bass is fun but different. I questioned whether it made me feel nauseous or not and imo the overal quality was not as good. Certain noices in the music would hurt my ears (which I always find with cheap headphones) and the volume was either too loud or too quiet. Do you have a recommendation?
I dropped my 900's probably 150 times from about 5 feet, usually on concrete( i work outside and on cars all the time) and they took forever be affected, not even positive if thats what blew the left side .At the beginning my 900's were more than perfect, a year later the ear pads had lost a bit of fluf, leading to my upper ear pressing against the back hard plastic protecting the speakers, and in short runs, not an issue, however I wear my headphones like 18hrs a day, 7 days a week so it was hurting bad, FORTUNATELY the left ear blew out and I was able to use my protection plan to get the 910's free and I live them, beside the rounded strap, the noise canceling was much better to me, but the bass isn't quite as good, but that's not to say they have bad bass
I've grown to really like your reviews. You cover all the needs. I differ from you a lil on features lol. I have grown to like in/on ear detection and like seeing that a lot more over multi point connection. And I'm all for wireless charging too 🤣🤟 I was excited for these and strongly considered upgrading as I have and love the 900n but after this review and others can't justify the upgrade.

I noticed these at target today and wanted too see if they were the better buy than the 900n’s . I have the 900n’s but want a second pair so my gf and I can watch movies loudly without bugging people. Your review just solidified the 900n’s as they support the aptX for less latency and have more bass for when I listen to music . All the other features aren’t too big of a deal for me . Great review !
Seems like everyone has goods sales on 910’s just picked up a pair in a combo with a power bank for $120. Just wanted something to use with my tv and laptop and maybe steam deck and $120 seemed like a good deal.

So the 910s are basically the MDR XB950 earcup, swivel and round, thicker headband. Its much more comfortable, 950s were so comfortable. The 900s get too jot too quickly and are uncomfortable after long usage. Also the 900s have weakpoints and easily snap. Poor design. The wider headband on the 910s are similar to mdr 950 which are proven more reliable.

The XB850 had a lot more bass than the XB900, and now the XB900 has more bass than the XB910. I think they keep lowering the bass because it takes a lot more power to produce lower frequencies. That way, the batter lasts much longer. I think they should make them as powerful at the just add a "Super Bass" feature to the headphones, and let people know that using this mode greatly reduces battery life. Let the consumer decide how much bass they want in their music, movies, and games.
yeah I had xb950n1s myself and they pumped pretty hard with the app. then I could also drive them with 3.5mm and my phone's onboard dac/amp and it performed quite well double amped. I tried the same use with a test pair 900n and the fall off was much worse on mid and low end at higher vol more akin to where you could feel the bass
No doubt the 850's were a BEAST. The design was absolutely atrocious though, and they broke so often they were almost disposable. I'm sticking with the 900's until they get back to a sleeker design and more bass. Otherwise heading elsewhere after religiously using Sony Xtra Bass headphones for more than 7 years daily at my desk.
They keep lowering bass because bass destroys music. There has to be a controlled amount of it. The xb910n still have too much bass for most reasonable people.
@@_m1k0 Reasonable is a point of view. Different people have different tastes and preferences. There are a lot of people who like some additional bass in their movies, music, etc. Don't be the kind of person that thinks there is an ULTIMATE way to listen to music: Your way. Don't do that.
@@_m1k0 FYI theyre "bass" headphones like theyre supposed to be "Dedicated bass cans" to most people expressing "interest" in buying htem HENCE THe "XB" = xtra bass....a moniker theyve had in play for 15+ years. Also noting that they have an EQ option in an app....not to mention i was running it on an independent dac/amp while pushing the XB included amplifier in the headphones which when properly EQ was able to produce GOOD bass presence w.o distorting/ruining the listening experience..and that these newer onboard amp/BT codecs make it hard to replicate this with the older XB headphones. If ppl dont want "BASS" or a reasonable option for listening XD they should be looking elsewhere from the XB line...is like expecting HIFI quality from skullcandy its all the same to me. Also the Xb950n1 which i had MSRP for like 250$ and so on....theyve lowered the quality and price of the XB 900 and xb910. BC the 950 was at a high price point of competition. Its almost like they exist to help sell the 1000 series as it offers adequate performance by comparison.
Got my 900s for 100$. I like them quite a bit as opposed to the xm4 i don't really need to all extra bells and whistles included. Onto the 910s i just don't like the band design, the 900s just look like one single piece and have a better design flow.

Honestly great comparison, but it just strengthened my view on sticking with the 900’s, they have more bass, they’re lower profile. And if you don’t fly a ton they’re not worth it. And really not a good idea to drive with noise cancelling headphones so I don’t see why that even came up

I know this video is old but I wanna ask something as a former XB-900N owner. During your XB-900N reviews I remember you saying you cannot use the EQ settings with AptX/LDAC on or vice versa. Is this still the case with the XB-910Ns?
I can tell you my everyday headphones, at Home for gaming I go with Crusher ANC, the reason is the call quality and the awesome ambient mode, in the gym the XM4s, yes, the XM4 because in the Gym is where I have some alone time to enjoy the Crisp music from them, and for work is the XB900N because if I loose them they only costed me $125 in black friday.
For right now the XM4 are my headphones for traveling and editing. I use momentum 3 for listening to music. I use AirPods Pro as everyday carry earbuds and I used CX plus for listening to music.
One problem i have with my 900s is the cushions, right one is alright but it feels like left one has less stuff inside, after couple of months of use, left one is like compressed.

according to the specs on the sony website, the freq. response on the 910N only goes down to 20Hz, but the 900N goes down to 2 Hz?? The 910N's are on sale right now (and every other month) and I really really want that extra bit of bass room, but not for an extra $100. lol
I bought these last week along with the XM4s to do my own comparison and return the one I don't like. the xb910ns look and feel so cheap. I got the blue in both. The XM4s looked sleek and almost black, the xb910 looked like kids headphones. Anyway, no surprise I kept the xm4s and sent the 910n back.

I don't know if it had something to do with the display unit at my local store, but the xb910s were not nearly as loud as my xb900ns. The xb900ns get louder than comfortable for more than a few songs, i typically am listening at 60-80%. 100% on the 910ns was about the same, sad if you listen to that one banger were you want to turn it up
is there a wired equivalent to these heaphones ?? I had the chance to try them out and I loved them, but I use headphones on my computer only, so no really need to pay extra money for having wireless features ...

Try skullcandy crushers evo, you will forget the Sony's. Skullcandy's bass is very addictive. I have used XB900N, but i returned them because they look so much cheap(build quality wise, people literally told me) and were not comfortable. Whereas Evos are heavier, but due to their good weight distribution i found them more comfy. Also i liked the sound quality of Evos.
@@arpangupta69 I respect your opinion but I guess xm3's are a league ahead. Those are the industry leaders and the crusher evos are a tough competition at the mid range segment but I don't think they will fair out against the premium xm3's. Another point is that I am getting the mark 3s for just 12000 INR ( they are just open boxed) so I guess that's a killer deal

I feel like sony nerfed the XB910N to compete less with XM4. They removed NFC,made it look bulbous, and changed the frequency response from 2HZ- to 20KHZ to 20HZ to 25KHZ. That extra lower frequency response would increase that rattling sensation. Anyway, major disappointment.

They have less bass than 900n because they have increased the higher frequencies compared to 900n.....hence giving better highs than prior models.

I've used my 900N since August 2019. Battery still solid and running good. I love it!
Mine are still kicking, although I;m looking to upgrade this Black friday
The rounder headbands are actually more comfortable than the low profile headbands

And I'm all for wireless charging too 🤣🤟 I was excited for these and strongly considered upgrading as I have and love the 900n but after this review and others can't justify the upgrade.

I noticed these at target today and wanted too see if they were the better buy than the 900n’s . I have the 900n’s but want a second pair so my gf and I can watch movies loudly without bugging people. Your review just solidified the 900n’s as they support the aptX for less latency and have more bass for when I listen to music . All the other features aren’t too big of a deal for me . Great review !

Seems like everyone has goods sales on 910’s just picked up a pair in a combo with a power bank for $120. Just wanted something to use with my tv and laptop and maybe steam deck and $120 seemed like a good deal.

So the 910s are basically the MDR XB950 earcup, swivel and round, thicker headband. Its much more comfortable, 950s were so comfortable. The 900s get too jot too quickly and are uncomfortable after long usage. Also the 900s have weakpoints and easily snap. Poor design. The wider headband on the 910s are similar to mdr 950 which are proven more reliable.

The XB850 had a lot more bass than the XB900, and now the XB900 has more bass than the XB910.
I think they keep lowering the bass because it takes a lot more power to produce lower frequencies. That way, the batter lasts much longer.
I think they should make them as powerful at the just add a "Super Bass" feature to the headphones, and let people know that using this mode greatly reduces battery life.
Let the consumer decide how much bass they want in their music, movies, and games.
yeah I had xb950n1s myself and they pumped pretty hard with the app. then I could also drive them with 3.5mm and my phone's onboard dac/amp and it performed quite well double amped. I tried the same use with a test pair 900n and the fall off was much worse on mid and low end at higher vol more akin to where you could feel the bass
No doubt the 850's were a BEAST. The design was absolutely atrocious though, and they broke so often they were almost disposable. I'm sticking with the 900's until they get back to a sleeker design and more bass. Otherwise heading elsewhere after religiously using Sony Xtra Bass headphones for more than 7 years daily at my desk.
They keep lowering bass because bass destroys music. There has to be a controlled amount of it. The xb910n still have too much bass for most reasonable people.
@@_m1k0 Reasonable is a point of view. Different people have different tastes and preferences. There are a lot of people who like some additional bass in their movies, music, etc. Don't be the kind of person that thinks there is an ULTIMATE way to listen to music: Your way. Don't do that.
@@_m1k0 FYI theyre "bass" headphones like theyre supposed to be "Dedicated bass cans" to most people expressing "interest" in buying htem HENCE THe "XB" = xtra bass....a moniker theyve had in play for 15+ years. Also noting that they have an EQ option in an app....not to mention i was running it on an independent dac/amp while pushing the XB included amplifier in the headphones which when properly EQ was able to produce GOOD bass presence w.o distorting/ruining the listening experience..and that these newer onboard amp/BT codecs make it hard to replicate this with the older XB headphones. If ppl dont want "BASS" or a reasonable option for listening XD they should be looking elsewhere from the XB line...is like expecting HIFI quality from skullcandy its all the same to me. Also the Xb950n1 which i had MSRP for like 250$ and so on....theyve lowered the quality and price of the XB 900 and xb910. BC the 950 was at a high price point of competition. Its almost like they exist to help sell the 1000 series as it offers adequate performance by comparison.
3:28 see how the curvature of band is different between the 900 and 910, almost like the 900 fits, the 910 made for a giant head.
Got my 900s for 100$. I like them quite a bit as opposed to the xm4 i don't really need to all extra bells and whistles included. Onto the 910s i just don't like the band design, the 900s just look like one single piece and have a better design flow.

Honestly great comparison, but it just strengthened my view on sticking with the 900’s, they have more bass, they’re lower profile. And if you don’t fly a ton they’re not worth it. And really not a good idea to drive with noise cancelling headphones so I don’t see why that even came up

During your XB-900N reviews I remember you saying you cannot use the EQ settings with AptX/LDAC on or vice versa. Is this still the case with the XB-910Ns?

I can tell you my everyday headphones, at Home for gaming I go with Crusher ANC, the reason is the call quality and the awesome ambient mode, in the gym the XM4s, yes, the XM4 because in the Gym is where I have some alone time to enjoy the Crisp music from them, and for work is the XB900N because if I loose them they only costed me $125 in black friday.
For right now the XM4 are my headphones for traveling and editing. I use momentum 3 for listening to music. I use AirPods Pro as everyday carry earbuds and I used CX plus for listening to music.
Lol I use a cheap HP gaming headphones at home( they actually sounds good, surprisingly), and I use OG Galaxy buds as travel headphones

according to the specs on the sony website, the freq. response on the 910N only goes down to 20Hz, but the 900N goes down to 2 Hz??
The 910N's are on sale right now (and every other month) and I really really want that extra bit of bass room, but not for an extra $100. lol

I bought these last week along with the XM4s to do my own comparison and return the one I don't like.
the xb910ns look and feel so cheap. I got the blue in both. The XM4s looked sleek and almost black, the xb910 looked like kids headphones. Anyway, no surprise I kept the xm4s and sent the 910n back.

Can you use the EQ with LDAC, or are you forced to use SBC when using EQ on Android, like with the XB900N's?
just double checked, they use LDAC no matter what EQ you're using.
I don't know if it had something to do with the display unit at my local store, but the xb910s were not nearly as loud as my xb900ns. The xb900ns get louder than comfortable for more than a few songs, i typically am listening at 60-80%. 100% on the 910ns was about the same, sad if you listen to that one banger were you want to turn it up
In my country a used xb900n is 66.6 $ and brand new clearance sale xb950b1 also 66.6 $. Which one should I take?

Try skullcandy crushers evo, you will forget the Sony's. Skullcandy's bass is very addictive. I have used XB900N, but i returned them because they look so much cheap(build quality wise, people literally told me) and were not comfortable. Whereas Evos are heavier, but due to their good weight distribution i found them more comfy. Also i liked the sound quality of Evos.
@@arpangupta69 I respect your opinion but I guess xm3's are a league ahead. Those are the industry leaders and the crusher evos are a tough competition at the mid range segment but I don't think they will fair out against the premium xm3's.
Another point is that I am getting the mark 3s for just 12000 INR ( they are just open boxed) so I guess that's a killer deal

It seems that the xb910 drivers are smaller than the xb900 drivers. Maybe that’s why it has better battery life and fewer bass.
Can you use the sony eq from the app with the wired connection? How are the mids and highs? Can you turn the bass completely off or down low?

I feel like sony nerfed the XB910N to compete less with XM4. They removed NFC,made it look bulbous, and changed the frequency response from 2HZ- to 20KHZ to 20HZ to 25KHZ. That extra lower frequency response would increase that rattling sensation. Anyway, major disappointment.
They’re apparently not even as good as the previous model in sound quality.
