Those hori split pad compacts have no gyro, hd rumble or amiibo reader and must be connected to the switch to work and drains the switch battery faster.
I have the non compact versions and I use them without a battery pack, while I have had moments where the battery has died on me it wasn't noticeably worse then the regular joycons (especially since they also drain battery from the switch)

My husband got me these Hori controllers for our anniversary and OMG I love them! That little box on the back keeps them from getting loose like the regular joycons
I have big hands and I find the little controller without the black slider attached to be the most comfortable controller I have ever used. The little buttons just work so well and are easy to locate with my huge thumbs. The best part is that I can put my arms wherever I want. I tried attaching the black slider but that makes it too wide.
That thing is goddamn MASSIVE BRO! ...so glad I just got a switch lite. It kicks so much ass. That lil slim Nintendo shell flip case is hitting the mailbox Tomo!
If you’re using the hori joycons it can drain it faster too, most of them do t have built in batteries so they take from the switch unlike the default joycons

Id recommend the NYXI Hyperion Pro if your JoyCons have drift or you need a new pair of corntollers, it costs about 20$ less then the actual joycons, are shaped like an actual controller, have hall effect sticks that cant possibly drift, are detachable, have gyro, have the little buttons on the sides for coop and are far more comfortable when playing with it. I got them for Christmas and the only thing I think they couldve done is user better plastic, because the original joycons just have highe quality material but it still isnt bad and they're a blast to play with.
I guess that's something good that a "fixing the Switch" video managed to point out, flexibility, although it may cost a lot, you can modify the switch to your needs and wants making *your* perfect console.

Y'all need to just stop eating greasy food before you play switch, stick drift is caused by dirt/filth inside the housing of the analogue stick.
Totk, Metroid Dread, Botw and Mario Odyssey runs amazing on my deck. Just like Elden ring, GOW, and Horizon...my only regret was not getting a bigger micro SD card.

No motion controls, no rumble. For Zelda you can’t aim or do the motion puzzles, Mario Odyssey has some secrets only found with the HD rumble. This is basically useful for 2D platformers, retro games and fighters only.
Don’t get the compact, get the split pad pro, the compact is uncomfortable while the pro is the same but with a grip you can hold properly, it feels like a controller instead of a brick
The only problem I have with my switch is that it heats up whenever I play a game that is more complicated than Snipperclips + and I don’t think a giant battery pack on the surface where my switch begins to overheat is going to end well… I would rather get a battery pack that goes next to the joy-cons and have a fan in the middle to keep it from getting too hot

Hori split pad in my opinion is anything but an upgrade. The only thing they have going on is a better shape. They lack gyro sensor and vibration motors. Lack of gyro sensors is a deal breaker for me. Also you can’t use them individually as they don’t have a battery.
