The Guacamole Queen was a woman that worked at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas where the Bongo Fury album was recorded and the immortal words "goodnight Austin Texas wherever you are" were uttered., she baked guacamole cookies for the band and people that worked there. Ian Underwood was Ruth's husband, he and Frank produced Alice Coopers first album "Pretties For You." The bicycle was on the Steve Allen show in 1963. "Tobacco is my favorite vegetable" ~ Frank Zappa. ☮ out !

I really appreciate you guys talking about him briefly. I was fortunate enough to meet him and spend some time with him not long before he passed. Still makes me tear up thinking about him.

I really like how you guys did this. The song is mainly about the Nazca lines in the Andes and where they might have come from. Frank read a book about them and then wrote this song. One thing nobody ever seems to pick up on when they react to this is Frank’s guitar tone and control. He was the tone master. Another thing is that lead he plays. Truly one of the sweetest guitar leads ever played. Thank you please do more Zappa. The world needs it.

The name of the book was Chariots of the Gods written by Erich von Daniken, it was popular at the time
@@bobcorbin3294 exactly. and it's unlikely frank read the book. the song is really widely a parody of this type of new age nonsense that was permeating western culture at the time. there is zero chance frank had time for this complete nonsense. But the book was hugely popular and he would have been totally familiar with its contents and message.

I'm not at all into competition in music but this is probably the best piece of music I know. Great composing but also allways time to GROOVE. Bassplayer outstanding, drummer great and goosebumps in Franks solo. I've listened so many times. Thanks guys!
I saw him every time he came to the Armadillo in Austin, plus many times in Southern California. He was a genius!

The song is from the One Size Fits All album, from 74. This live performance formed the basic track for the studio album. A lot of his albums were done that way.

This video didn’t come out until later, maybe early ‘80s, and the clay animation was made simultaneously w Baby Snakes in the late ‘70s. This song evolved over long time, and was not necessarily written down. There are earlier versions much more simple. He would often just show it on the guitar and have the musicians memorise it. Ruth would write it down herself, but sure, he would also hand out sheets to be learned and memorised. Also, he was not a major on percussion, but started out playing drums, albeit not very well.

52 yr old dude from Stockholm, Sweden. I have actually attended to 2 live Zappa concerts. Both in arena Hovet, Sthlm. 85 nd 88 as a teeaager! So, he is my God of music since then.
And for the rest who doesnt get it... sorry!
My professor of composition tell me about zappa, and its fantastic.

Glad to see/hear that you liked this little ditty. It's certainly a great place to start with the "variefied" immensity of the FZ catalog. If you get a chance, you should DEFINITELY check out "The Drummers of Frank Zappa" (here on YT), wherein Terry Bozzio ('75-'79) discusses auditioning and working with FZ back in the 70s and early 80s with none other than Ralph Humphrey ('73-'74) , Chester Thompson ('73-'75) , Ruth Underwood (various times and permutations, but mostly, with this band, '73-'75) & Chad Wackerman ('81-'88). Some really great insight into the workings of the band, as well as some delightful memories and, of course, Ruth Underwood. Well worth your time. 👍✨

If you were ever to do me the honour of listening to one of my tracks, I sincerely hope you would have enough respect for the music to use an ad blocker, and never, never, never interrupt the music to describe what's coming next. There's a huge difference between listening and hearing.
A couple of technical notes on your introduction. The version on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore was recorded in Helsinki. The version you are watching forms the basis of the version on One Size Fits all, and can be heard in its entirety on several Zappa Family Trust albums, the most important of which is Roxy: The Soundtrack, which was included along with the DVD version of the long awaited Roxy The Movie.
I don't think you are correct in asserting that this footage was sent out to media companies. The filming was messed up by a synchronization failure, and languished in the vault until modern technology could be deployed to save it.

Yes the lyrics make sense. It's about the the plateaus in the Andies mountains if they were natural, or if they were man made, and if essentially they were built for alien space ships. Also many of the nonsense is derived from inside jokes that come from things that happened while touring , and then many of those themes or words come up a lot, "conceptual continuity" he also would have secret words for his shows , which were very theatrical. Especially with the Mothers. Also while yes they did rehearse I recommend reviewing or checking out a three part , Montana . Whipping Floss, and then Whipping Post. And then look up the story behind it. Anyway Zappa is the best. If you want to hear some direct influence he had check out Catholic School Girls by RHCP, Genius in France by Weird Al, and of course Phish and Les Claypool and countless other bands and artists.
And I recommend the book Cosmic Debris by Greg Russo and a several other books about Zappa and his various bands

Yeah so out of high school and college we used to go and see Frank step in concert and personally I was kind of obsessed with Ruth not always a musician but you know as a guy and but I was too shy I would like to approach her just to get her autograph but I was too shy I don’t know nothing about women I’m a nerd but all the musicians Jesus Christ there’s one fucking incredible Yep and Frank didn’t allow them to use any mine altering chemicals at least not while are practicing how could you use any mind altering chemicals while you’re doing that stuff he basically fire them up they did I don’t think you cared what they used when they weren’t at work but you know and Frank it was a big heavy duty coffee user and cigarette smoker which is probably why he got prostate cancer unfortunately he didn’t eat well but he he didn’t do drugs and I think he was in Europe someplace and somebody came up to him with a baggie full of hashish to give it to him thinking that he was a Hachi smoker and Frank didn’t even know what it was I think Frank did try some of that marijuana marijuana stuff Wayback win but he wasn’t impressed with it and I’ve never been impressed with it either
