I was thinking the same when SSR decided to make the movie after the grand success of Bahubali 1 and 2.
How will he justify his over the top action skills in a movie which has 2 main leads who are inspired by 2 real life revolutionaries but i doubt that now.

I'll answer that. All the artists know it's a very unrealistic script with ridiculous stunts.
But they still put a lot of effort into it. The music blends well. But the characters do take the world seriously. And it makes all the difference. They are not being overtly meta or winking at the camera. Hollywood writers nowadays are too clever for their own demise.

*Yeah, I agree. Though the live action Lion King’s CGI is impressively realistic, it’s boring and lacks character (Take Scar for instance, in the original he’s witty, sarcastic, has a dry sense of humor but still has the ability to be threatening. In the live action remake he’s a one dimensional “I must destroy everything to get what I want” villain) But here, the animals are a lot more expressive and I love it.*

I saw it in Vancouver, Canada with a pretty rowdy crowd, which as a westerner, I wasn't used to. For the first hour, I was thinking, ok everyone settle down, I'm trying to focus.

But RRR has very good way of storytelling keeping us engaged with emotions which other masala movies won't offer that's why it worked out for western audience and they enjoyed it
Masala commerical movies are always great until there is comedy, thrill, emotional sentiments to keep you engage or else it just hurts our brain
