That is my preferred approach with character design when a sequel has to make a new design (that I also always support)... Use the new design to express character development, story development, etc. So their own default looks are an auxiliary tool of the game's story development.

Some things to note:
His Crouch HP and Back MK stand the opponent up, so you can guarantee light / medium tatsu combo
His light tatsu combos well into Heavy tatsu i think
His level 2 is overall better than his level 3 when in corner. There’s more damage to be done with optimal combo Lvl 2 > Lvl 1
He can convert a simple anti air into a 40%+ dmg combo with optimal combo > air lvl 1 > ground lvl 1
His comand grab can be used even after crossing up the opponent.
All 3 if his punch buttons dictate the speed of the Hadoken, and the angle of the air hado.
His OD Demon Raid (new Demon Flip) puts akuma right in front of his opponent, no matter the distance.
I’ll try to gather more intel but i thought this is good to know for now
As an akuma purist since third strike, I’m extremely happy with this kit. Cant wait to test the limits of his juggles
Overall there will be like 4 players per region that will be capable of playing him to his fullest. Nothing to worry about.
Capcom is gonna see a big surge in players when Akuma releases. 😅

May 22nd couldn't come any faster, I purchased sf6 back in February and im a sf2 ce player and sf6 feels so much like sf2ce but with a bit better with supers added and I love it so much not all that v trigger remember 25 moves where sf6 is like 8 tops and sf6 just feels like a perfect follow up for me to go to thanks Justin for getting me back into street fighter after 15 years tu ty ty 😊😊😊
4:21 you can try to kara-demon with Akuma's target combos. Guile can animation cancel his target combo (4MP, 4HP~) into any of his specials or supers.

I get the feeling akuma will be easy to pick up but difficult to master, that low health is gonna be a challenge for a lot of people and I can already imagine it's gonna take a godly amount of skill to just not die and blown up
I agree, and I think they should have leaned more into that. He looks too buff to be low health. He should have been strong, but give his moves weaknesses and vulnerabilities so you have to be a really good player to use him.
@MijinLaw I mean you need to be a really good player regardless cause of the low health. Akuma having low vitality is just part of the assignment lol
@@friendlyneighbourhoodgoji786 I know, I'm just saying it's kind of hard to square him visually appearing so jacked and yet being physically weaker than, say, Lily. I would love Akuma to be a character where he has normal health, and great specials in the right hands but the specials / normals have small hit zones or cooldowns or whatever so average players will find him tough to play with.
But it's too late for that now anyway, everyone's too familiar with Akuma as glass cannon...
@MijinLaw sorry man I didn't mean to come off as writing off your idea. That is a very interesting thing they could do at Stoke point, like maybe have him take grey health with certain specials that are very strong. I think the low health reflects canon in that he is purr aggression with no concerns for active defence. Like there's no way lily is one shotting him in the lore xD

It could also be something like Vega's claw, or Jamie's drinks, where Akuma can gain / lose strength within a round.
Had to paus this awesome video with a side not Raging Demon was like that in sf5 too. You hade to fill certain requirements before you could activate it.

Tokido Akuma is going to be a thing of beauty.
He looks really strong! All that's missing is Gouken, I hope he makes it back onto the roster.
Gouken would be very interesting in this moment of the story in the future timeline, with these mature shotos and all. And of course I would like to see his new moveset.
Capcom decided to make him the master who doesn't have a similar moveset to his students, unlike in Tekken with the Mishima family... and more similar to Takuma from AOF/KOF (who I believe was the true inspiration).
Ryo and Robert movesets are similar from the beginning, in a Ryu x Ken way, but Takuma's moveset is different from both. More different than Akuma's old moveset vs Ryu + Ken old movesets. That is interesting gameplay design (especially for the 90s) that highlights the master and makes him an additional practitioner of the same style but not being an additional "clone".

@mappybc6097 Except he's not. He was in Ryu's story mode in SFV which takes place after SF4 and before SF3. Since SF6 is set after the events of SF3 it wouldn't be out of the question if Gouken was alive. Besides having old masters isn't new to SF, remember Gen and Oro?
@@8-BitHero SF6 must be like 6-7 years after TS for Li-Fen and Mel to be 13-14 years old. It's not as if it happens right after SF5 ends.

Since I first played as him in HD Remix and Third Strike: Online Edition back in Early 20IX, Akuma has easily become my favourite Glass Cannon in all of Two Dimensional Fighting, he is the true definition of Risk and Reward and in many ways his presentation in Street Fighter VI probably makes him just about as powerful as (if not more than) his counterparts in Third Strike, Alpha III (X~ism), Street Fighter: The Movie (Arcade), and Mysterious Mod; while I am a little Half and Half about his Raging Demon having literally become Naruto's Ninja Handbook, the many major uplifts to his Combo Handling and Special Attack Execution make him easily one of the best options by the time that VI is complete (in terms of new additions), the transition from Mysterious Mod to this will feel a little rough because we do not have proper Super Clashes (I want my Double Raging Demon from Mysterious Mod to come back, dang it!) but everything else is solid that the only thing that I feel we will have to worry about in the long run is that noticeably smaller Maximum Health and that is fine as somebody who has been used to this since Third Strike over the past Thirteen Years.

Not having a throw off of Demon Flip was what stuck out the most to me from the previous stuff. Wasn't sure if that's how it went. It removes the fear of just blocking.
You can still cancel Demon Flip into regular throw like in the trailer lol

The usage of the demon is similar to SF4. SF4 gave you two variations. One based on the super meter which did low dmg. The other was similar to CA. This time, its usage is based on a condition. Through most battles you couldn't just spam it anyway. Top tier players use meter anyway. It will still be used to clear a round since your hp will be at 25%
They have scaled akuma down in just about every game he’s ever been in because if they didn’t no one would beat him.

Might as well put Gouken in there, I'm still looking for a secondary character that I can get with. I never really liked Akuma, maybe when I was younger when he first appeared. We need a kickboxing and Muay thai straight up fighter or another jiujutsu thrower, or more honed boxer. ( I know the animation team is like... yeah... that's so easy😢) There may be some more martial arts styles to consider in play that aren't enough, maybe another wrestler that has ranging styles of international wrestling styles. I think if Juri was more TaeKwondo honed it would be cooler. Filipino stick fighting, more original ninjutsu styles, other Chinese kung fu styles, other karate styles...plenty to think on, not just fan favorites
His level 3 in this game is sort of like his CA from SF x Tekken. He jumps into the air and comes down on them with a fist and then punches energy down and the demon logo goes across the ground. Not exact but his SF6 CA3 is really close to his SF X Tekken super.
The way I see it, there is a whole moveset design arc behind this new Lv 3... With new games being inspired by the single ground pound punch from SF3. Then SFxTK was a modernized flashy version, in a way, and SF5 made a more direct reference, and now there is this new super. They are different in function but their base is still the "simplicity" of a single straight downward punch, that was introduced to Akuma's moveset in SF3.
Maybe it's also accurate to mention Shin Akuma's Lv 3 from CvS2 as a loose reference, because it's a single strike in a straight downward way... with the difference that he jumped and is falling down and does a kind of karate chop (iirc) and not a punch.
All that seems to point to Akuma becoming slowly more interested, since SF3, in full concentrated punches. And that is even reinforced by the new lv 2.
@@carlosaugusto9821 Yea I always loved the SF X Tekken version of the original Misogi (right?) that was in SF3 and CVS2 where he drops out of the air with the chop was so bad ass.
I loved the effects and camera work from the SF x Tekken version he lands on them with a fist and they're clearly beat then gives a final push and the logo fires out underneath them and you get an ovehead shot of it.
My god they the CA took that lvl from too simple and underwhelming to OD! Point blank fireball to the face on the ground is insane. Reminds me of Megatron in the 80s movie

@@mappybc6097 did he die at the end of SF4? I thought the outcome of his battle with Akuma was implied that Gouken won since Ryu ended up turning away from the Satsui no Hado. Gouken has never been confirmed dead by Capcom to my knowledge
