I remember exactly where i was when i heard he passed away. I got really scared and said, please don't tell me Rick James died,..they were playing all of his songs back to back on the radio...I knew something had happened. This guy was everything..a rock funk God. There will never be another. Rest well Rick!

I went to the Buffalo NY funeral service. Rick was actually someone I knew, he and his brother Carmen. We called him Head. Had big fun.

Watching this now, it’s hard to take that this took place 17 years ago. It’s seems like a generation ago. Where has the time gone? I wish that Rick was still here making music as his legacy continues to remain with us who grew up with his music. A sad loss to the music industry, his family, his fans and life itself. RIP Rick James.

Youd think fans would be smart enough to dress nice for a funeral instead of showing up in jeans and a tshirt.
Not everyone have nice clothes. Some hardly have food to eat. At least they showed up to give their respects. That's all that matters. Good grief!
probably that's all they had, also they let the public view
Plus, sometimes I've gone to funerals after I left work and didn't even have time to go home and take an afternoon shower and change clothes. With some jobs you go in early to work and you are lucky enough to run to a funeral after leaving work with no time to spare. It's not like everyone has a job where they can leave it anytime they want to.
Rick was here to entertain the people of the ghetto all ghettos across America.
