I saw your cycling video from your beginner budget saltwater tank series, and I was confused about it. How do you know when to change your water when doing fish in cycle and how do you know if its done.

Ai prime on a ten gallon. I couldn't do it lol I guess if it's the only tank I had maybe, but that's a big chunk of change for a ten gallon. If ur looking for a cheaper one there are some new nicrews that are nice. They have 30w 50w 100w n 150w. Check em out if ur in the market for a nano light

Is a tap water dechlorinator like seachem prime ok to use if you don't have a RD/DI unit or can't afford one?

Best practice will be to use RODI water. If you don't have that then you can use distilled water from your supermarket or fish store. Dechlorinated tap water removes the chlorine in it and that's about it. There is still presence of ammonia, nitrate and whatever else the water people decide to add it in. For saltwater aquarium, the presence of nitrate for example will be bad for corals. light + nitrate will promote more algae growth. If you use dechlorinated tap water, I guess you're just giving yourself more work to do and more things to rid off hence the best practice is to start with pure h20 and add in the minerals yourself through a saltmix. my 2 cents worth.

Aquaticlife's RO buddie is like 100 bucks. In the long run, you'll save more money avoiding algae blooms.
