I'am a retired America at 66 years old ,i was in Cebu in 2016 ,but i want to return to Philippines to retire there for awhile ,my question is , what about international health insurance in case something comes up about medical situations in the Philippines, do you have any international health insurance companies that you would suggest ,and what happens if a foreigner passes away in the Philippines, do you make plans there in the Philippines for funeral arrangements ,anyway looking forward going back to the Philippines ,i planed on staying in Bohol, or Dumaguete, or live in or around Cebu and maybe other towns to look at while i am there, thanks
I have traveled back and forth at least 20 times. In fact I retired and now live there for almost 17 years. This video is full of great advice and spot on the only thing I disagree with is 90% of Filipino's speak English communicating is easy
Hahaha Blame Chat GPT for that. I think a big percent understand English but are shy to speak it. In my 2 years here I run into about one person a month that really does not understand me. That number goes way way up in every other Asian country I have been to. Thanks for the comment
As a Canadian citizen planning to visit the Philippines, you can enter the country without a visa for stays up to 30 days, provided your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date.
what about health insurance ,i plan on living in the Philppines soon, i am retire American, ,i been to the Philippines before ,i was in Cebu in 2016, stay 2 weeks there, and i love it , this time i want to stay a lot longer , so what about international health insurance would work for me in case something happens to me
Thanks for the question. There is several health insurance options that will pay a percentage of the cost depending on services needed. I broke my hip in front of the house I was renting last Feb. I was living in a gated subdivision at the time and 20+ people from the division showed up to help! A truck with a stretcher from the Barangay Hall showed up and brought me to the hospital. I got x-rays and meds and a ride back to my house on the stretcher for under $100 US the ride was free. So what you co-pay with the insurance will be a lot less than US and insurance cheaper monthly too. You can't use US medicare here bad for me! Haha I plan on making a video about insurance here soon. I like to keep my videos under 5 minutes so i didn't have room in this one. Keep watching and subscribe. Thanks again.
Health insurance is available but little bit high priced. They changed the laws here a while back and if you are or become a resident you can get a senior citizen discount card giving you 20% off on medical visits and meds. Also free hospital at a government hospital. But be prepared the government hospital you will wait all day and are not the greatest. But the private are good
