- We head to Homosassa, FL to go full retro while eating at FL's only Pizza Hut Classic location. Pizza Hut Classic is a full renovation of eligible Pizza Hut locations that meet sales thresholds, and includes the items the folks grew up with, such as a salad bar, checkered table cloths, and pan pizza served at the table.

They said they were waiting on getting a Pac-Man machine and that we'd have to head back in a couple of months once it arrives along with their new floor.

When I think of Pizza Hut this is what I think of. I hope someday, they will bring back the character of some of these places.
It looks like that’s a goal of theirs, one by one as long as stores hit certain sales.
I lived in Statesville, N.C. and we had one with the salad bar and hot bar of pizza, pasta, breadstix...I miss that place. 😢
Ah bookit! So many memories from elementary school! Everyone from school would come in for the student nights to show off their free pizzas and new 3d star stickers!

I found one of those old-school Pizza Hut lights hanging in there at an antique a couple of months ago. It had a crack down the side of it that unless you were really really looking at it you couldn’t tell. The tag on the inside of the part that goes against the ceiling said 10/1980. I only paid 25 bucks for it and it is currently hanging in my kitchen……. I did not know that this Pizza Hut even existed but I can honestly tell you it’s a three day weekend this weekend and Sunday. I will be going down to Homosassa to eat at that Pizza Hut.

Pizza hut is pretty decent and the "retro" look does bring back memories of the old days. And you mentioned living in NY, wow do I miss the pizza there. I was stationed at Governors Island NY in 1971 and used to take the Coast Guard ferry across to south ferry and then take the train into the city. I remember 50 cents a slice for pizza and it was incredible !! There are many pizza places now days and the "chain" pizza places struggle to make it with all the mom & pop shops. Living in Tampa, I may have to take a drive to Homosassa and check out the retro hut. Thanks for the review

Very Nice, nostalgia factor was 100% for me. I remember biting into a slice as a kid, burning the roof of my mouth. Then then some of the cheese slid off and hit me on the chin.
I miss the classic dine in Pizza Hut’s. The pan pizza was awesome.
Glad I came upon your vid. I worked at a PH in North Carolina in the mid 80's while in high school then early college years, this brings back a lot of memories. Funny side story, PH had an annual World's Greatest Pizza Maker contest back then and I actually won it. I was awarded 500.00 and my manager got a trip for 2 to Hawaii and he took me with him. I got to meet all the big wigs at the time of PH, PepsiCo and the franchisee (Rage Inc.). The following year finished 2nd. I definitely need to check out one of these PH Classics locations. Yes on the Pac Man and our store had a jukebox too. Fun times..
This is so fun! I grew up going to an original Pizza Hut in my hometown, Book It! was a huge part of my childhood, and then once I got to high school - I had friends who worked there and we'd always stop by to hang out and get free breadsticks! Ahhhh the memories! I love that they're bringing them back!

There’s a Pizza Hut lunch buffet still in Clermont during the week and the pizza tasted just like the old days.
We need to make it Clermont for the buffet.
The Pizza Hut in Apopka also has table seating with the tablecloths like the old days. I am going to have to go in and look pay closer attention.

That’s the best. I can’t wait to go up there and eat there for a long weekend and a couple of times. I’ll I have one here by me on Congress Avenue in West Palm Beach Florida in Palm Springs but they don’t always have the buffet open. It’s not a true classic but everything’s pretty much the same.👍

7060 International drive has the classic set up right in the middle of the tourist district in Orlando. Not sure why they're not on the list. Salad bar, games, Pizza Hut style lamps covers.

This is awesome, I'm the service technician for pepsi and this location is in my zone. I'm in there pretty often. Weeki wachee is where I live . It's a very clean location. That's crazy that it's the only old school left. Last year it had a remodel too lol

There's a restaurant chain called Pizza Inn that never changed from the buffet/salad bar format and, to me, they were always neck & neck with Pizza Hut but the fact that they kept to it made me a lifer for them. Glad to see PH bringing back the good stuff, though.
Someone else mentioned Pizza Inn as well, but I think they were a southern based chain and we didn’t have them in NYC. Sounds good though.

Surprised we don't have one in Wichita, seeing as how it was founded here. We used to have two Pizza Huts literally across the street from each other. They're both gone now. 😢

In the old days, there was a two person booth in the corner window section you could sit in. Best place to sit.

Man. It's 9:39am over here and I am now HUNGRY. I only started "getting" Pizza Hut after my parents got out of the biz........we were Little Caesar's franchisees starting in 77ish in Holland Michigan. Now I need to find my yellow pages to find out when our PH opens...... ; )

Pizza Inn was my fave. There are still some near me in Texas, but the ingredients aren't the same. It's sad.
I don't think we had Pizza Inn by us in NY. I had to look them up, but it seems like they were mostly in the south. Looks cool.

I found a list of these online and Texas has the most at 10. The closest to me is 90 minutes away in Fairfield Texas.

@@ATAY81 I talk about that location at the end of the video. My understanding is that location is only serving the buffet but is not a “Pizza Hut Classic”. We’re due to head over that way at some point to check it out.

Do I miss Pizza Hut!!!! Always went to the buffet and would pick up a pizza to take home. Now all we have is Dominos and that’s like eating a piece of cardboard with plain sauce.

They have closed the local pizza hut in my town to turn it into a classic. About 50 miles north of Atlanta

It has been many years for the last time the ones that you went to has been in my area. We still have ones that are carry out or they are with a Taco Bell but those are going out fast.
They're all pretty much just delivery locations by us now.
in 2022,the median age in Citrus County(where Homosassa is located) was 57. 36% of the population was over 70.Just a clue why this is popular.
Now if they just bring back the buffet.....

I talk about the Clermont location at the end of the video. Clermont is a buffet location but not a designated “classic” location by Pizza Hut.
Ya,but do they still use real pizza ovens or do they use those automatic convert belt things? When they started using those is when I noticed a significant difference in the taste and not for the better.
The only thing missing from that salad bar are the pepperonis. Did they have the creamy Italian dressing?

Too bad they didn’t have to original pizza dough instead of frozen and the current breadsticks with the original toppings instead of the crap today
