We stood in front, watching the sunrise on the screen and listening to this . . . . and sometimes they'd jump into my arms and we would ballet around the living room. They were amazed, I think, at the beautiful sounds those voices made. I looked at them and felt so much love. I felt so blessed to have them. They were MY new day. They are now 19 and 20, and they still stop and listen when they hear this, and we all reminisce about when they were itty bitties. They both have grown into the most wonderful people I could ever really wish to know . . . . and I still feel that same hope when I hear this. When I'm with them. They are still my New Day.

I sang this for festival for chorus and we begged the teacher to let us sing it for our concert. She said yes! It's my last chorus concert for high school and I'm proud to get to sing this song for it!
This song makes me just melt into the floor or my chair or wherever I am when I'm listening to it. So amazing, so awesome, so awe-inspiring, so moving. This is why music speaks volumes wherever you are. Why it's a universal language. Even if you couldn't hear these words, you would sense the love, the perfection, the hope that underlies this piece of music. I actually sang this song in my middle school choir in 2011 or 2012. But it was just us girls singing, no guys. It was beautiful, my choir teacher arranged it for us so we can sing it in a way that made sense to us musically. She did an awesome job
Ah, I just love this song! The high school choir I'm in is singing this for this year's seniors at graduation! What's amazing to me is that they blend sooo well, and the fact that their countertenor(s) are so perfectly on pitch when my choir's first tenors have a hard time reaching their notes! But they're professional singers for a reason, right? :)

This makes me cry, thanks so much. How refreshing to see men sing with such tenderness....so much better than what men usually do with their agression. Actually I believe if more people sang (danced, drew, played instruments & wrote) the world would change dramatically.
I sang this at a christmas concert the other night :) singing the 1st counter tenor / sop line, just 6 male voices. So so much fun. We did it in the original key though, in C major, went up to a top f :)

Firstly, sopranists (male sopranos) are a branch of countertenor. Secondly, both countertenors sing within the alto register. So, no they are countertenors. It is what they call themselves as well.

I've performed the Christmas version of "New Day"...we didn't sound QUITE as good them, but that's why they get the big bucks!
