nxde felt like a cultural reset, it was really big, and this song got a lot of people into (g)i-dle. the message is deep but fun, and one of my favorite songs by them
I knew I'd heard the name Lorelai before! It is the name of the Marilyn Monroe character in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'. Soyeon is pretty well cosplaying as Monroe in certain bits of this MV. The point is, in the movie (and the original book by Anita Loos), Lorelai may have been a knockout blond bombshell, but she was always trying to improve herself by reading 'hard' books. Just as Monroe did in real life, and as Soyeon (in character) is doing when she is shown holding a book called 'Leaves of Grass' - a collection of poems by Walt Whitman. (G)-Idle's MVs are full of hidden meanings! Soyeon knows what she is doing.
''Marylin'' is indeed Marylin Monroe. As well as the recording session behind the scenes there's another video of Soyeon pitching the concept of this comeback to Cube executives where it is made abundantly clear
"I rather got hate for who i am, than be loved for not who i am" that's the concept.. And yes marilyn is Marilyn Monroe's.. Also in korean names gidle is kids so whenever people searching for kids nxde this song will appear..
Hi, I'm glad you seem to enjoy their songs. Nxde is one of my favorites along with Oh My God too. You're right, the siren-like German fairytale character is called Lorelei but its also the name of a movie character played by Marilyn, so I believe thats the reference. Marilyn Monroe is also everywhere in the MV once you look closely
Gidle have so many underrated meaningful songs and music video....like 'Oh My God' 'Hwaa' and 'Lion' .... from the lyrics, music arrangements to how they're singing like telling a story and feel like your watching a short film.. you should checkout their phenomenal and mind blowing stage performance.... 'Lion' and 'Put It Straight' in Queendom stage...its basically a battle between 6 girl groups
the name was also genius, because their name means child basically, so when you look it up online idle nxde, instead of seeing such awful things, their song was the only thing that popped up
Soyeon's lyrics always speak to the audience, you should pay attention to her rap in yheir song "Uh Oh", where she was addressing the people who doubted her while she was participating in survival shows but wanted to jump on her success when she became known
The entire Nxde album is their journey from confusion and darkness after Soojin was fired to acceptance, but IN REVERSE! The last song is the darkest and they go through the stages of grief until they finally realize that, no matter what, they are going to be themselves (nude) even if people throw hate at them (which they do. Esp Soyeon). Nxde is a triumph and emotional healing for the now five member group. Listen to the entire EP and you will see how dark it is by the end...
And yes is Marilyn Monroe. The pink dress is one celeb scene of her film, the white dress of course and even the green. Marilyn was see like a bimbo but Soyeon heard she was really smart.
You can see their real message. ❤ For their songs, it will be more fun if you follow to the B-side track couse of album concept. As Nxde is the title track of 'I Love' mini album that should listen from last b-side track to the title track. Tomboy is title track of 'I never die' album, will listen by ordering. But "I Feel' mini album, should see pre-release track first.
have you seen the live mma performance they did with an opera singer singing habanero as the intro? if not, please do a reaction video as it’s PERFECTION!!!

So true I got really into gidle after nxde😭 and I went back and listened to their entire discography and watched all their mvs
I'm a simple man: I hear Soyeon say something, I agree
😁😆😅
😂😂 this is more true then I'd like to admit

I think I saw that movie countless times in TV but I did not remember her name. So that's where it came from. Thanks.

The violin part and the chorus is straight from "Carmen", a french opera.
No wonder sounded so familiar. Thank you

Oh, and Soyeon is a genius, not that it needs saying...
Some fans in twitter made better translation than cube
RUclips translation from cube are always pretty bad and it's sad because new people don't check fan translation and often think the lyric are weird.
Soyeon is such a great lyricist and use a lot of wordplay with different langage.

If you look at the Queendom stage, you can see the coolness of these guys.

There’s also a video on the KToReact youtube channel where classical and jazz musicians provide more insight on the genius of the song!!!
