  • This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/4.... TAS originally published on 2021-09-09.
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a sequel to an old Atari game and shares a concept similar to its predecessor: Get through the jungle alive and fight something at the end. The new goal in this game though is that you destroy wildlife to save a pixelated dad.
There is also a run of the Genesis version (tasvideos.org/2...) of the game, which has two additional levels.
Le Hulk improves his previous movie (tasvideos.org/3...) by 16.79 seconds, thanks to a new skip that was found near the end of the game.

"So the dad is the guy from the previous game? Should we give him better graphics?"
    "No."

The giant rock he's strapped to, is shaped like the Atari logo... 🤣

I love how during the cart-ride, the TAS is swapping between inventory items in the bottom corner to the beat of the BGM

The dad is stuck looking ancient. Yet end has him looking different as title scrolls.

Wow, this actually looks like a sick game. I just sort of assumed it was ass after the NES game and later installments

Probably one of the first successful proto-reboots. And look where Activision is now!
      ....Actually, don't look at Activision.

Most of the Pitfall games were at least decent, the one on PS2 is pretty good actually

It was killing me trying to remember what game the jungle music reminded me of. It was Rastan.

I immediately thought "That's definitely not a reskin of Lion King" ... :D
      All feel quite similar indeed.

Still missing hopping into the portal in stage 4 and TASing the original Pitfall.

This game’s health bar is literally an alligator about to eat the representation of the lives you have. Why don’t they ever just stick with a freaking bar? These esoteric health bars are always impossible to read...

That just means you're playing a crappy western-developed platformer then.
