Damn. That was one of your best video's. "Seat Cover" is really getting some great shots and angles. I enjoyed some of the views she gave, like going through the slop hole, showing the tires is Cinema skills being developed. I did like the rear shot with the fixed camera also, especially watching the Blazer lurch as it was on the hook was excellent. Maybe get some interviews with those passengers on their wild ride on the hook of the "BEAST". Amazing driving skills to yank, and transport though that amazing course of paths and terrain, and to see you do it flawlessly surprises me. You are the "Master OPERATOR" in my eyes! More footage I can't see enough....
These videos are fun, you love what you do, offroading and helping other fellow enthusiasts. We've all been stuck in need for a badass rig to pull us out.
LostCondor hey dude, lets keep it off youtube, you have something real to say, man up, let me know where I can see you 1 on 1. Otherwise keep it to yourself.
Thats such a bad ass tow truck!! I should build something like this for when i'm out in the desert at the hare & hounds or the trophy truck races or at King of the hammer lol
Really like the extra camera angles. If you happen to have an extra camera, a shot from the recovered vehicle might be interesting. Maybe a GoPro on a magnetic or suction cup mount would work. I enjoy the videos. Keep them coming.
It was nice that he unlocked his Transfer Case... AWR .NEPA I like the ability to "Stomp the Pedal" with an automatic (in my '96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4)... But, I also like the "Finesse of the Stick" (in my '98 Jeep Wrangler TJ).
i start my truck up and let it run and take my hand and grap the the steering rag joint and soon as i start to move it real slow i can see my pitman are move but my tires havent start to move yet thats why i were thinking it was in my gear box ..and i appreciate your advice..
+abdyfe If so the box is not too loose inside, one thing I forgot to mention is the box mounting to the frame. It was common on 1/2 tons and Blazers in 80's to crack the frame near the steering box. Perform this test again and watch for excessive frame movement, also watch for the front of the left front spring trying to curl up before the wheels start to turn. This can happen with a push/pull drag link style steering and soft high positive arch lift springs.
hey i just put new ball joints in it all 4 and tie rods drag link i did notice when i install one of the lower ball joints i had tighten it to tight because it was real hard to turn the spindle by hand so i loose up on the lower nut where i can turn it easy so i dont no if that the problem or not.
+abdyfe That is exactly what the collar on the upper ball joint is for. The proper way to is to adj. is to tread the collar up, or down to achieve a neutral preload on the ball joints when the stud nuts are tight. there is a spec. on how easy/hard the knuckle turns (without the tier rod connected) using a spring scale. The collar can only be adj. with the upper ball joint nut removed, and the upper ball joint taper loose from the collar, and can take several tries to get it right. But a tell tale sign if things are too tight (steering box slack adjusting nut, or ball joint preload) is if after turning a corner on the road (aprox. 20-30 mph) you have to steer the truck the last bit back to center. Condition referred to as tractor steer.
Another great job! Are you still using the same THM400 in this truck or another transmission? Also curious if the current rear axle has the same ratio as the previous one and what it is. Thanks!
hey with a body lift and big tires do u get a lot of play in your steering ..i got a k5 blazer 35x12 tires on it 3' lift cant get the play out my steering second gear box i put on everything is new under there may be i got a bad gear box ..tell me wat u think..thanks
+abdyfe A "body lift" won't alter any of the chassis steering geometry, and a 3" suspension lift kit usually isn't enough to cause problems. However if your truck has a dry/sticking ball joint, drag link end, tie rod end, over tightened steering box, or even a dry u-joint like the one in this video. Any of them can make steering a truck at road speed feel like loose steering, when the truth is while driving down the road you are actually over steering the truck, and then over correcting the steering to keep it strait. If nothing in the steering is worn out/loose (pitman arm. drag link ends, tie rod ends, or even the ball joints) I would check for something too tight or binding. P.S. the upper ball joint on a 1/2 ton axle has an adjustable collar where the stud fits in the axle to adjust ball joint preload. If the ball joints have been replaced their preload may not be correct.
So, what happened to the blazer? Your voices were kind of indistinct when you asked the owner. Hope you got their address, mail them that sticker later. :)
What are your thoughts on having a manual trans on the wrecker? I am sure the automatic is much easier but I wonder if there might be any advantage to a manual? Thanks for the videos, they are always fascinating.
This is the black guy in the green astro van that just waved at you in Nebraska.
I'm so impressed with your wife she helped with the new wrecker build plus helps on recoveries what a treasure
Thumbs up,thanks for the ride along, wish we were there
That's not just any K5, that is a military M1009 Blazer. New wrecker is looking and working great!
Love the old vids more of the train your dragging trough like to see more, Kelly one of your Subscribers

+Aubrey Sweatt I would like to take the tow truck to the Hammers some day and help out.
That tow truck is awesome !

CaptainYodelstein Good Idea! I will try that.
Great video! I loved the new camera angles and footage. Keep up the videos.

The build video was very interesting on the tow truck also to put a electric winch on the top case the PTO gives out
I remember these videos like I just watched them yesterday
Knowing what you are doing, is why it looks so easy!
Excellent camera footage !

Love you channel love to tow trucks wondering if you ever going to build another truck so you have two of them
Dose anyone know what band/music the intro is?? I'm digging that guitar 💪
How do you like the new truck compared to the old one? i haven't really heard you do much of a comparison of features between old and new..
Nice job pulling the wrecker ' s long lost cousin out.
new Engo winches are pretty good for the price. former CEO or warn started his own company. foreign made, but get great reviews.
i no about the frame all that is good i clean and checked that oout when i put the frist gear box on everything is new under,,,
Nice job as usual
Nice. impressive skills

I'm sure I would have caved in the side of that truck on a couple of trees. That looked like a heavy load to haul.

What size cable is on the wrecker?
And I thought towing my 350z on a trailer behind my Silverado down the highway was hard/stressful hahaha
nicely done.
Down here in the southern most tip of Texas theres RGV MUD &SAND RECOVERY team. They help our alot of people free of charge, look them up on Facebook.

Toby Cameron sounded like a u-joint strap broke and the u-joint was loose in the yoke
Tyler Buck OK thx. All I got from the conversation was that he could have tried to limp it back to camp, but didn't want to risk worsening the damage.

AWR .NEPA Scuba's wrecker is a stick and he loves it.
