  • This is a simple way to improve the overall aesthetics of your property. However be sure not to put too much mulch, if any, against the trunk of the tree. Adding tree rings is a straightforward process and can really help define the look of your yard.

The idea is nice, however- the flair of the tree base should never be covered. This will strangle the tree and cause it to die. The ring should go out to the drip line of the farthest branches. The mulch should be a thin amount that is deepest at drip line, and thinnest as it gets closer to the tree trunk . Never touching the trunk of the tree. And, never covering the natural flair of the tree. Thank you for reading this!

As previously mentioned, the root flare should stay above ground. Getting the lawn away from your tree is generally a healthy thing to do for your tree. Make sure your sprinklers don't shoot up against your tree either. Many trees that thrive in arid climates will decline if they are over watered. If you cover the root flare and, or put a lawn around them, the roots will rot.
