Heartfelt and stunning. One of the reasons I’m proud of playing trumpet 💙 thank you Freddie
And trust me, playing trumpet is painful but damn worthy
You have my respect for having the ability to play a musical instrument. I love music but I’m a consumer of it, not a maker, because I can’t play any instrument currently.
Well done and thank you to anyone who can sing and/or play any instrument because you provide a great deal of pleasure to millions of people, including me.
As a trumpet player, this video continues to be an inspiration... Freddie LIVES !!!!
Do you have any tips for jazz improvisation on the trumpet?
Nobody has ever played trumpet like this. Nobody. Mind boggling.
I love Freddy very soul fantastic
The Best
"Three Blind Mice" ,I remember this album. Nice Freddie!
This is a gift. Thank you for posting! A beautiful addition to Three Blind Mice.
Good job!!
Wow sounds so romantic !!
Stunnning
The real damn sh*t 🏆🎺🎷🎹🥁
Wonderful posting!
Jaki Byard's name has a typo in the info box.
❤️
Interesting concert!.... Jaki Byard is not your typical Messenger pianist and this is the only time he worked with Art Blakey to my knowledge. Freddie is brilliant as always but I find his tone a bit rough and brittle on a pretty ballad like Blue Moon.
Muting the horn would have changed that a little bit, I suppose... but I like Hubbard's approach to ballads :)
When it comes to playing ballads, there are few trumpet players that equal Art Farmer for me. That's what Freddie thought as well.
+vova47 Haven't listened to him! thanks a lot, gonna check him out...
any starter album?
Lucky you, I wish I could discover Art Farmer for the first time!
Well, it's tough choice, he made quite a few great albums.....
I would say his quartet album "Art" w, Tommy Flanagan,
there's also 3 quartet sessions with Cedar Walton, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins - "Yesterday's Thoughts", "To Duke with Love", "the Summer Knows" they've been released also as "New York sessions"
I also love "Art Farmer Quintet at Boomers" and many of his recordings with Art Farmer- Benny Golson Jazztet. So much to enjoy......let me know what you think. Cheers!
(Answering from my other account)
Thanks a lot vova! I'll make sure to listen to each album that you recommended to me, and, if I like it, I'll make sure to keep discovering his other works!
Regards from Chile :)
in other news, it has just been announced that tracy morgan will play freddie hubbard in an upcoming art blakey biopic.
Seriously?. If so, what great news!!
Don't mind me. The pandemic has me a little (or a lot) delusional
@@postatility9703 i wish it were true. i'd like to see TM imitate how FH looked while he soloed on red clay.
