I would love this as a series on your channel! Just a thought🧐
Great idea!
Such a gorgeous painting. I am fascinated by a blank canvas coming to life as you work. Amazing!
Thank you so much!
I JUST received my Color Cubes. I have waited for SO LONG to order them. They couldn't get here fast enough. lol
Hope you enjoy it!
Hullo Lindsay, I do enjoy watching you use the supplies from your stash! I also like how you edited your choices of mailboxes to one from three! That is something I would have a difficult time doing I would’ve done all three. Thanks again for showing us how it’s done and providing a step-by-step tutorial in your online teaching store. Looking forward to a Michaels class and of course your next video!
Thank you so much!
I love that pen, too! I got the sepia first and then the black, because the sepia was so great.
The sepia is on my list, but I need a bit of an art supply shopping reset 😆
This video is packed with so many great tips, that I officially declare it my favorite video of yours! Not just tips on breaking artist's block, not just tips on the best white, not just tips on narrowing your focus on a project, Tips on the Pentel pocket pen (which I love, no idea they had sepia!!) Tips on using what you have, I mean it's just bursting with tips! a veritable cornucopia! Thank you so much! 🌻
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and your kind comment!
Loved this I love how you use the pictures on the colour cube for an inspiring reference 💙 ❤️ 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
I am always amazed how you can take the most mundane photo and make it look amazing!!! I always pass up so many reference photos because I don’t think they are interesting enough. I’m going to stop doing that! This looks so good.
Glad you like them!
Thank you for the video. It's nice to have new ideas on how to use my supply's.
Glad it was helpful!
The dice are really cool. Love the looks of the huge Inktense blocks but know I would only end up with a mess. You are so talented and gifted. You make everything seem so fun .
Thanks! For most people the standard blocks are the wisest choice, more colors for less money. These are fun and useful for large projects tho!
This looks like a 3D object! Beautiful 😍! In the spirit of frugality, I will DIY the dice idea: wite medium names in paper slices and place them in a box, to draw from like a lottery. If I get fany, I can also imaginr crafting a dice with thick card stock (plenty of templates online) and write 6 supplies I have. I can always make new dice if I get new supplies 😊. I really enjoyed watching you paint the background, whoch makes the letter box stand out so well. Thank you, Lindsay!
Great idea!
Great way to be inspired! I have the color cubes but haven't used them yet. I may have to get those dice 😸
Have fun!
I’ve had mine for a while and never thought to use them as a reference photo. Even though I love them photos themselves. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Lovely piece. I'd love those colour cubes but they're just another wish list item. Worth noting that Sarah is really generous and shares some of the colour cards on her social media and Pinterest pages so although there's not the breadth of choice you'd have with the cubes, there are plenty to choose from for ideas and palettes. This was a nice start to my Friday morning, so thanks 😊
Yes! You can also see lots of palettes on pinterest for free!
What a fun project and a great way to inspire your creativity. I like the way you selected which portion of the inspiration cube image you would use. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this!!! Gives me nostalgia feelings from old painting tutorials you used to post ❤
I'm so glad!
Really love this Lindsay. I think the idea of just using a couple of the die choices and mixed with the cube choices was inspirational ❤😊xx
Thanks 😊
Great idea to generate some parameters. I haven’t used my colour cubes recently. Picked a card & started painting. Loved how your letter box turned out!
Wonderful!
So glad to see you use the dice! Very intriguing. It's a great painting.
Thank you! Cheers!
Always a fun concept! I don't have art dice but I enjoy using d&d dice to decide on limited color palette selections for paintings
Good idea!
I really like how this came out and love the art dice for picking subject matter when you don’t know what to do or just want to play!
Those dice look fun! Would love to see more with them
More to come!
Thanks Lindsay! This was so fun and inspiring. Those cubes look so interesting! And use up supplies! Will that happen in my lifetime LOL!
I hope so!
I love my pentel pocket brush! I ended up buying 3 more in limited addition colors and even turned my first pen, which was a little clogged because I used a pigment ink, and turned it into a eye dropper style pen with some silicone grease. Thankfully even with the clog, fountain pen ink was able to flow out of the brush.
That is awesome!
That turned out so lovely and loose!! I love that bamboo paper but so far have only used it for watercolours - I should really go beyond that and try mixed media on it 😊
It's nice!
Enjoyed this immensely!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wowww this is gorgeous! Never heard of the inktense blocks, thanks for the inspo!
You are so welcome!
Nice painting! Now I feel like painting something red ❤
Go for it!
You can use Faber Castell matt pencils to make your own graphite paper. Rub them on tracing paper. Works great!
Great tip!
great job ,i love my xl blocks
Love it! I will definitely be following along in critique club 😉
Thanks!
Wow Lindsay; this is amazing! Thanks for sharing!🎉❤ I hope this got you out of your rut!!😂
Thanks! I'm sure I will as soon as I finish up a few freelance projects:)
Love this painting. I have the ArtDice but haven't used them yet.
You should!
At moments like this I want your job lol though on the classes and extra jazz on time that goes into that; one is lazy :P all hail editing.... :P And I have the inktense stick as well as the bleedproof white for highlighs both sit standard on my table, you can worry on my mental health if I dont use it; either for splatter or highlights. Yes you read that right. I finally got on the splatter train. And now its somewhat of an addiction :P
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. Best wishes to you! ❤️
Thank you! You too!
It came out well,(was there ever any doubt)? Nope, because it's Lindsay 🎉❤
Aww, you are too kind!
I love this! Fun video and inspiring! Thank you for the video!
You are so welcome!
Love this one too
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
This is soooooo good 😊😊
Thanks!
I just bought these dice. I haven't yet used them yet, as they only came recently. I actually was thinking about using them with the CC too :) I might close my eyes and pick two dice at once randomly. I have that pencil set too. I am actually surprised it doesn't have a kneadable eraser with it as I think for those dark dark DARK pencils, it works better than the white eraser. The white one is ok, but it can't lift as much of those pencils.
In they may streak with a regular eraser because they seem to have a bit of oil in them.
Add a Lizzard to a french landscape :P south of france has the tiny lizzards wich are very cute when you see m in those typical south of EU cobble stone walls.
Good idea!
This was so much fun! I don't have the derwent blocks but I have the derwent paints and some derwent pencils; are they the same?
There are more similar to the inktense pan paints or blocks.
Thanks for the tip about the Daniel Smith white watercolor stick for highlights! Do you use the stick directly on the paper (as if it were a crayon) or added thickly with a little water and a brush?
With a brush. The sticks aren't great for drawing.
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks!
I have those dice! Do you like the cubes? I want them but they seem expensive!
I do! They have a digital version as well which is cheaper and no shipping.
Hey Lin. I just wanted to aks if maybe you could review the new Ohuhu bleedproof marker pad? Ive seen only positive reviews so far and I dont think all these people are really honest.
Another marker artist here on youtube (Amy Shulke) recently posted a review of it and she rips the paper to shreds there. So I would really love your opinion on jt. No pressure tho.
I actually like it, but it's not the normal marker paper or blending cardstock. It's more like Rendr paper, which has a higher learning curve than blending cardstock. I'm not sure how these papers are made, but I think they might have a grey ply in the center because the colors look dark until they dry. So you have to think about that shift as you color. But it's the same shift as Endr or the Sketch marker bleed proof pad.
The big reason to get this paper is if you want to use both sides of the paper. There is zero bleeding to the back. I like it a touch more than render because it is easier to add a bit of colored pencil accent on top because rendr is slick.
It is harder to use. You layer on this paper rather than blending.i might make a sketchbook with it because the pad style binding won't hold up to flipping long term, and the big benefit to this paper is it doesn't bleed through. Personally, I like it. It's not for everyone though and I hated Tendr when I first used it and regretted that purchase (it was an expensive sketchbook!) But made myself use it and I learned to love it so I wasn't at a disadvantage with the new ohuhu pad.
I did a demo on this paper, and I love the work I made. I talked about the best way to approach work on this paper as well, so if you have it and are frustrated, it will help. ruclips.net/video/3LhnMjDzx-M/видео.htmlsi=CpJ3tk_CbLzlTJpG
It's not the easiest paper, but I like it, and I like ohuhu. They are much more above board than other marker companies who continually fleece their customers.
@@thefrugalcrafter I already ordered it and it arrived today so I already tested it. I have to admit, I dont like the color. Its not white paper. I have to agree with Amy on this. Its grey. Even the old Ohuhu marker pad paper is much more white. I also dont like how thin it is. Its technically 2 sheets glued together, which means each sheet is only 75gsm. Which means the ink takes longer to dry because there's not enough paper to soak into. I used some of my black pigment liners (Deleter, Tombow Fudenosuke, Zebra Fude Pens as well as the STA Sign Pens and W&N pigment liners) which are all alcohol marker proof, on this paper. And even after 20(!) minutes the inks still werent completely dry and smeared when I colored over them with my markers.
So yeah, not happy with this paper at all. Guess I'll send it back and order another one of their older pads. Those are much better, imo. Huge disappointment. :/
@Oozaru85 wow, that's weird. You should totally send it back. I don't think I did as many layers because I didn't get sticky wet spots. My paper wasn't grey but it wasn't bright white either. I just did a drawing on the paper, not a review of it so I didn't go too deep but I did enjoy it. In fact I'm thinking of using the spiral bound sketchbook for inktober 😆 (I still have thar Rendr one to finish tho.)
I'm wondering if the paper changed or ot worked for me because I didn't saturate it as much as you did. I'm pretty sure Harry from the Art Gear Guide review it and got good results. I'm wondering if there was a bad batch. Send it back, hopefully if it's bad they can pull other bad pads.
