We can really see the possibilities there! Artist's color is really a 3-dimensional concept, with the gray scale in the center, and every color from neutral to bright radiating out from that center. This looks like it does a great job of giving quick reference for a wide palette, including adjacent colors, complements, and triadic combinations. So glad you showed this!
One reason to get both physical AND digital is that you can quickly scroll through the digital version to find what you might want, then easily pull the physical card. Sometimes flipping through a bunch of cards one by one is kind of tedious and overwhelming. Such an awesome product!
This set is FANTASTIC if you are a quilter! The heartache & frustration of choosing colors in fabric is exactly the same as when choosing pencils or any other art medium. These are probably my most used objects in my studio! :)
Lindsay, you have been hands down my best teacher. You were one of the first artists who encouraged me to ask, "Do I need? Would I use it? Do I already have something that will do this?". If it wasn't for you, I would probably buy this product because it's so cool and so pretty! But the truth is... I don't need it. I wouldn't use it. And I do already have something that will do this for me.
This is a great tool indeed. As a digital artist, it TRULY helps having a physical companion for the color catalogue, since seeing what colors actually look like on print gives me quite the peace of mind! Colors on a monitor do not always translate the way we think they will once printed. This is frustration-proof hahahaha!
I have always struggled with color. I make a lot of mud. I bought the entire bundle and am so happy that I did. Loved your video as now I have a good idea of how to really make the most of these cards. I also bought the entire bundle and now that I’ve seen how to use the digital I will get even more use out of this purchase. Thanks for a great video from another technology challenged older person
When I saw you unbox this earlier this week, I had to order it. OMG. This is such a fantastic product. Sarah put so much work and thought into this. I ordered the bundle of physical and digital versions. It was such a good deal. My cubes shipped today. These are so amazing. My Christmas present to me. I also love being able to support a fellow creative.
I am debating the physical or digital as the bundle, although so much in it is a lot for me at the moment as I have other stuff to buy. I’m not sure if I buy the digital I will still want the physical. I also noticed that the physical appears to show a shed either side on the reverse of the card whereas I don’t see that on the digital version 🤔 I really can’t decide!
@@traceybartlam7737 It's really difficult to say which is more useful/better as a standalone product. The physical boxes and cards are just gorgeous. I think they are most useful for random pulls of a color palette and there's something about having a physical card in your hand. You are correct, the digital version does not show the tint and shade of each color. The digital versions are great as they are searchable and you can scroll through everything quickly and see multiple palettes at a glance. So convenient. I guess it depends on the individual and how one works. I was fortunate that I could purchase both the boxes and the digital versions including the Companion media documents. If I was forced to choose one, I would probably choose the digital version. I think they are the most versatile for me but those color cube boxes sure look great in the art room. 😊
I immediately jumped on the bandwagon when Sarah offered these color cubes and now I use the color catalog/color companion and color cubes together. I use the color catalog to identify the color palette and then I pull the color cube card and attach it to my project. I prefer using the card for reference than useing a digital device to reference. The quality of the cards just can't be beat and are worth every penny. Also, the color cubes themselves are stunning pieces of art...and that makes it easy for me to remember to use them!
To be honest, I can see this helping with cardmaking as well. I use patterned paper scraps a lot, and struggle sometimes to match colors. I have a good eye for matching shades and tints within a single color, but I sometimes struggle with color harmonies, especially when a pattern is busy. ❤️
Sarah is from Melbourne Australia, I met her last year, lovely lady. I bought the whole set and I use it for polymer clay, gelli printing this was a game changer for the prints I’ve pulled. Also would help with beading Color choices.
Thanks for featuring the Color Cubes, Lindsay. I cannot wait to get them! For now, I have the Digital version on my phone so I can use it to pick out yarns or paints in-person. The digital version is totally worth having for on-the-go and Highly recommend to everyone to get Both when you order. Sarah Renae is a professional colorist :) and her Yearly Planner is Boss!!
This is the combination of lots of work and lots of beautiful printing. I love things still that are in physical form rather than on the computer. It looks like a wonderful product and I appreciate you showing us. I love color too!
My sister in law started something like this about 6 years ago and dropped it. Wow, this is so super great! All the pics, colors & info are great! Love love love it!!!
I wanted her catalog for a long time, but I wanted something tangible. Printing it myself would be a huge use of ink and paper, not to mention color shifts in inks. I kept hoping she'd put the catalog into a book. But these are even better. I can carry/hold a single card rather than trying to keep a book page open. I only have volume 1, I'd really like to get the second box as well. They are so helpful when I feel like I'm using the same color palettes in my art. And they help with inspiration when I'm in the mood to art but can't figure out what I want to do.
I was eyeing the coloring catalog's for years. i bought the whole package. The best gift I bought for myself and my hobby's in the past year! It makes it so much easier to just color.. and not stress about colors..but just shadows and shades.
This can really bring my card making to a new level! This is exciting as I love coloring my stamped images and struggle with my paper hoard :) Thanks for showing this!!
Color Cube gives me the Nostalgia Feels! I had the set of US History cards, my mom had the Betty Crocker. I LOVED those sets, so exciting to get them in the mail.
These are so gorgeous! The amount of work that must have gone into creating these is mind blowing! The physical cards are such high quality too! They are just astounding! Even the boxes alone are pieces of art!
I just ordered the full set of everything thru your link, and I can't wait to get them! From choosing an outfit and accessories to card making, painting, to making journals, this will be well loved, since I never trust myself choosing colors! I tend to stick to boring things I know will work, when I'm wanting to use something different, but don't know if it "goes!" I'm just about to try and download the digital parts. A little worried, as I'm not techie, but I love that one person can download to 10 devices, as I understand, since I'm always worried about crashes. Thanks for letting us know about this awesome product I'd never heard of! I love the digital option for having anywhere, but I'm a printed paper, hold the real thing in my hands sort of girl, so having both options is great! Thanks, Lindsay!💙
I bought these just recently and love them❤. By complete serendipity then I found your 30min course.. which im LOVING.😊. For those of us that love to be able to hold the product rather than digital, it's excellent. It's already helped my block...and it's like an artist's box of candies. Worth every cent. I have a board of pallettes in pinterest but I think I'll use this more. Lindsay..if you have trouble loading the box...I found it easier to put the cards back in the middle, not on the edges. They fall in more easily that way and don't snag on the edges 👍
I’ve purchased the physical & digital versions. I don’t like messing around with digital items but I’ve found that the system is more functional as a package. I absolutely love it. I’m one of those people who has difficulty choosing colors. There’s a lot of in-depth YT videos to help people better understand how these products interact. I think this is worth every penny.
I follow Sarah Renae Clark, and had debated purchasing the Color Catalog (like you, I like hardcopy), and when I found out she was coming out with the Color Cubes, I preordered the cubes along with the whole bundled package. I don't know how many times I couldn't think of which colors to use, or have ruined a coloring page with the wrong color combos. These cubes are great!
I am VERY colour challenged. I am not an artist at all, but very much a creative and I have to create something every day. I also have aphantasia (I have no minds eye, when I close my eyes and try to imagine something, all I see is black). Thus, one of the most challenging things for me is putting colours together for things I want to create. Finding this set is absolutely amazing for me. I don't have to think, or worry about whether or not the palette works. It is an incredible tool. I have ordered Sarah's bundle (both digital and the cubes) and cannot wait for it to arrive. Sooooo excited.
I struggle color matching to an electronic device so I think the printed cards in the cubes would be helpful. Especially if you put a piece of clear plastic over the card to lay the paint on top of to mix.
Also, if you order the full color suite, it comes with like 10 companions- so whatever pencils or markers you use, she has gone through and color matched each card to dozens of pencil and marker sets. I love it!
This is a premium product and Sarah has been working on and refining this collection for years now! I am not sure how much better she can get it! I first saw it on Baylee Jae’s channel and she got the digital version as shipping from Australia took a very long time and she just printed page after page and created a binder with the entire collection within! So to have them sourced in the US and the ability to ship them from a more centralized hub! Thank you for sharing your opinions and ideas about this amazing product!
Thanks for your enthusiastic review. Definitely adding it to my wish list for 2023. I love Sarah’s reviews as well. She is very methodical and provides in-depth reviews and like you is entertaining to listen to. Have fun with your new colour blocks.
Even for card making, knitting, crochet, junk journalling, embroidery, patchwork! This is an amazing tool and I am looking at getting it soon, as I think it's the best crafting investment ever!
You mentioned interior design and immediately I thought of all the times at the paint store/dept I have been sorely disappointed by what the paint companies offer in their brochures. This is golden for that kind of thing alone.
Just saw this video... and of course, I love it but it was hilarious watching you say how excited you were .... LIKE WE COULD NOT TELL ...... I'm rolling watching you be so giddy.... both were great.... Thanks Lindsay
I used to think that I didn't need help choosing colors. HA! I bought the whole bundle because I liked the look of it, but still didn't think I would use it much. Double HA! It is wonderful. I use the digital version to select the palette I want as it is so quick and easy to browse through. Then I get the physical card to use as a reference. I use the companion to find the right pencils to match the colours easily. I can certainly do all this on my own, but it would take me a long time and include some amount of frustration. With the colour catalog, it is FAST AND EASY! I love it!
These are great for composition, color, and values. Yes, get stale. Great learning tool and fun! The color palettes are so gorgeous. We can use our imagination like Floozy sketchbook paintings. Also need inspiration in the winter months. Thanks Lindsay 💕 Checking this out!💕
Love the concept of this… I added it to my someday/maybe list… I definitely want the full collection… will use your link when it comes off the list and into my new budget. Thanks for sharing your excitement over this fun tool…have a wonderful weekend 🙂
After watching your unboxing I was pretty sure that I was going to purchase this for my job (marketing manager/graphic designer) and also for personal use. I did a RUclips search and watched at least 8 other unboxing videos of this product. Of all of the unboxing I watched, yours was the most well done and the most informative. So I came back this evening and used your affiliate link to purchase the full collection. I do hope you will receive credit for it because you certainly deserve it. Your videos are always so well done and I appreciate that! Others need to watch your videos to learn how it’s done and then do their homework on products that they’re planning to unbox on video. Thank you again for making such a well informed video on this product!
I just got my Color Cube Full set this last week and I love it.. It for sure gets the creative juices flowing. Just seeing the colors and combos give me so many ideas on things to color and keeping a limited palette. I like the digital version to search and find the colors i want and the cards are great to have on the desk next to what im drawing so I dont have to have my iphone or ipad next to where I'm drawing. I would like to see you do another drawing using a random card and with Alcohol markers.
These are so cool! You know what? They totally remind me of paint sample cards at the big box hardware stores! Great idea to use the color swatches for images rather than rooms. Love it!!
Your sense of homour is great! You had me giggling. I love your tea/coffee cup painting. I am going to search to watch that video. I would love to see you do more of these. Agreed Sarah did an incredible job. Thank you for the fun and informative video.
This is amazing. While I am digital All the way (think kindle over actual books) but this set I want the actual boxes 😍😍😍 Sarah did an amazing job! Inspirational!
I WANT IT ALL!! i struggle with color palettes in my many projects: interiors, quilts, cards, and more. Digital images are often not quite right. Although I appreciate the color codes to help reproduce the colors. There is only one problem...... it is not in my budget right now.
I ordered these - the bundle & they have already shipped. It's not that I have a shortage of ideas - with all the great tutorials out there in RUclips land there is never a shortage. But I don't always have my phone or tablet and sometimes it would be nice to grab my pencils with a sketch book and just sit outside (in the warmer weather of course - not like today when it is -31 degrees celsius...LOL) with a small card and sketch or draw. I really think these will be marvellous.
It's such a brilliant product and program! Even though I've painted for over 20 years, there are times that I still could use help coordinating complementary colour palettes and this is a valuable resource for every artist! ❤️👏🏻❤️
I have the digital version and have been using it for a few years! One way I use it is to pick out color schemes for my quilts. I can then design them in Electric Quilt 8 and EQ8 has this super cool feature where it will match the colors you use on your screen with actual fabric basics. So I can go from Color Catalog palette > designed quilt > the names and exact amounts of fabrics to order. I LOVE IT!! Also Sarah Renae Clark just seems like such a sweetie pie that I am happy to throw some cash at her!
Total impulse purchase. Right now. Boom. Merry Christmas to me. 🤣 Seriously, I've been struggling with ways to permeate The Block. Thanks for sharing such a fun and interactive find!
I just bought this and mine is coming today. I was interested in the original PDF version, but I wished then she had a physical set. When she did release this, I then started thinking I didn't need it and I just needed to learn color theory (which is probably still true). But I have backflipped yet again and realized that these cards will help create decisions for me and make it much easier to pick the perfect palette. I think as artists, we have enough decisions to make, that if we can take away some of the process of choosing, we can focus on actually creating instead. You are making me want the digital version now though. I prefer a card to sit next to me on a desk, but the digital is great to find things easily and using the color search function.
Hello Lindsay, I really enjoyed your review of Sarah's colour cubes, I follow her channel as well. It's fun to watch your excitement about a product that is so good. 😊
I really was into coloring books and whatnot prior to becoming obsessed with watercolors and this was something that was amazing that I wanted to try but I knew that if it was digital I'd never use it and I didn't know there was a physical form of them! These are going to be a need for me soon. I've always been color/ color scheme challenged and her listing specific colors for pencils would be so helpful for me. I think these are such a great deal and honestly I think they're worth more than they sell for she did an amazing job and like you said I can't think of anything else that could be improved upon. Thanks for sharing. Have a great night
Thank you for all of your wonderful reviews, demos and tutorials. I purchased the full color suite (such a great value) and received the cubes about a month ago. I can't even imagine the amount of work that has gone into the production. Beautiful product that I can see using for all mediums. I think the digital version is very cool but I love to have the cards for that physical need. I haven't had the chance to do more than look at them. Actually I did start a coloring page using the digital version that is turning out very nice so far. I plan to do the oil pastel painting that you did using these. I've never used oil pastels so I will follow the tutorial you have on Critique Club. After the 1st I'll be digging in. You're so talented and inspiring. I'm glad you're feeling better.
L♡ve em and excited to order mine soon. She did this awesome review on a pencil sharpener I just love it. Ordered it seriously great. Enjoy her. Don't do adult coloring anymore but, do more clay stuff that will also be great for your pottery. Saw this one lady use stocking cool stockings hose like fishnets other patterns on her pottery and she glazed it came out so amazing look wise. It's a video on RUclips the patterns were very interesting. Can see this being very handy and useful for many projects. Heard your remark on that bean pot you made for your husband handmade pottery is amazing. There truly is no buying that from another store. Thanks for sharing.
I must say I’ve ordered the PDF but not the physical boxes. Jennifer McGuire did a review and now you! It’s a thing. I’m so in love with the digital version I’m going to order the boxes as well! Thanks for your review.
I live in SoCal and she shipped from Nevada in like 2 days. Love this. I REALLY need it. I am so stuck on the same colors. I got everything and it is so worth it. You can print them and swatch your pencils or whatever color art supplies you use, too.
Thanks for another amazing video and review Lindsay! It’s so true that as a crafter, color combinations and image ideas can be such a struggle! For years I’ve saved color combo ideas on Pinterest along with pre colored copic images! But finding them isn’t easy because I have so many saved! Plus, like you I like a physical image! I could see this as a real plus also as I’m now in my 50’s, and have preconceived color combo’s but wish for more modern views of color! It’s funny how my dentist office looks dated to the 80’s because of the colors they have together! There isn’t anything wrong with the colors but the dentist was talking to me about it and I suggested changing at least one of the colors like the paint on the walls to reflect a modern look! Also we all have our favorite colors but have those maybe we wish to branch out to. I struggle with reds for Christmas since I don’t use it a lot, along with oranges for fall and Halloween. So I could see that cube as a very useful tool! 🥳😉
My mind is just buzzing with the possibilities for using this system. OMG - capsule wardrobe! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Merry Christmas 🎄
I bought the digital when you last reviewed Sarah’s colour catalog and I too was as happy as you when Sarah came out with the cubes . I pre ordered as soon as I could . There is something to be said about so much colour arriving in the mail all at once . I too geeked out at these gorgeous cards . They are so worth it . Great review 👍🏻❤️
It is impressive. I think I would want the digital and printed. I could use the digital to browse and select a picture/pallet , then use the printed cards while working. The color equivalent charts for the various pencil brands would be wonderful to quickly pick the correct pencil for the palette./project. I would definitely want them all!! 😊
Thanks so much for showing these Lindsay! I love using big pops of color on my greeting cards but I've always had difficulty with the color wheel and I feel like these would work much better for me. Running over to the website now :).
This is a wonderful tool and so glad to see you demonstrate it. I ordered mine and know it will be something I can use a lot. Thank you for another great video.
You are dangerous for my budget. :-) Just ordered these and can't wait. I ordered the Sanjoki markers after watching that video and then decided to order them for 3 of my grandkids for Xmas (and of course paper to go with them) and your class on alcohol markers for me. They were so excited! 2 of them live next door and we are going to have "art classes" with the markers this spring semester. But, if I can keep the kids interested in art as they move into their teens and beyond, it will be amazing.
Patty- I would use this with my coloring, painting, patterns for my needlework etc. There's no end. Thank you for showing this. I didn't realize it was so inexpensive. I'm going to check this out.
I'm trying to decide digital or cards. I loved them when you showed them last week. I'm also a quilter and these would be excellent for that! Most quilters struggle when they don't buy from one fabric collection. I need to get past the holidays before I spend anymore on ME LOL
She does have a bundle with a digital version you could have on a phone or tablet and take to the store with you when you shop. Or you could just get the digital version. You really can't go wrong.
I have the first volume of the color catalog and it’s come in handy so many times! I use to be really bad with choosing colors but it’s really helped me out a lot!
I've watched alot of her videos. I didn't know how she acquired her catalog. I'd love to get these products. Her background wall attracted me because I zentngle and love drawing patterns mandalas etc. I'm color challenged and I tried color wheels but this system seems so expansive and easy to comprehend.
I bought another RUclipsr, Twisted ArtDesigns, the new color cubes and she loves them! I looked for the ClaireFontaine Pastelmat paper for you this morning. I haven’t found it yet - I know it’s in there. My husband is remodeling our bathroom and my craft room has become the landing ground for all of his tools! I won’t forget!

Enjoy!
I struggle color matching to an electronic device so I think the printed cards in the cubes would be helpful. Especially if you put a piece of clear plastic over the card to lay the paint on top of to mix.
Yes and picking glaze colors because sometimes I forget what it is supposed to look like while I am painting 😆
@@thefrugalcrafter I think we're all looking forward to seeing how that bean pot comes out!
Yes digital images are backlit, seems like it might change the color
All versions are great! Sarah really went above and beyond
It's so handy!
You mentioned interior design and immediately I thought of all the times at the paint store/dept I have been sorely disappointed by what the paint companies offer in their brochures. This is golden for that kind of thing alone.
It is!
Just saw this video... and of course, I love it but it was hilarious watching you say how excited you were .... LIKE WE COULD NOT TELL ...... I'm rolling watching you be so giddy.... both were great.... Thanks Lindsay
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just got mine in! Love these!! Great idea!
Next I want a hard bound book printed. I hear Barnes and Noble printing does that.
That's a great idea!
Thanks Lindsay 💕 Checking this out!💕
Thanks so much!
These would be good for choosing yarn colors for crochet projects
I purchased the cube bundle. Thanks for the review and all the ideas!
Aww, so kind of you:) thanks!
Will do!
I'm new to adult coloring and trying to pick colors is the hardest part for me. I'm putting these cubes on my wish list.
These are so cool! You know what? They totally remind me of paint sample cards at the big box hardware stores! Great idea to use the color swatches for images rather than rooms. Love it!!
This is a great idea for crochers and knitters.
These are great to decide what color palette to use to to s coloring book page!
Totally!
Your sense of homour is great! You had me giggling. I love your tea/coffee cup painting. I am going to search to watch that video. I would love to see you do more of these. Agreed Sarah did an incredible job. Thank you for the fun and informative video.
Omg, thank you for this! Amazing. Sarah is awesome, so meticulous in her work! I have to get a set.
You are so welcome!
They are a splurge for sure!
Mine just came in and I am LOVING them!
Yay!
My thoughts exactly!
Good for embroidery artists to!
It's such a brilliant product and program! Even though I've painted for over 20 years, there are times that I still could use help coordinating complementary colour palettes and this is a valuable resource for every artist! ❤️👏🏻❤️
I agree!
Mine arrived today! Such an awesome tool. Sales of these are going to explode. Such a good to get all at once. TFS!
Wow, cool! Sarah is such a nice lady.
Sooo glad you are reviewing these. I’m going to purchase them and the digital ones.
Total impulse purchase. Right now. Boom. Merry Christmas to me. 🤣 Seriously, I've been struggling with ways to permeate The Block. Thanks for sharing such a fun and interactive find!
Good for you! Merry Christmas!
Gotta love that!
My aunt Miki ordered me the color cubes it is still on its way
Thank you for all of your wonderful reviews, demos and tutorials.
Thank you!
I got the whole bundel, I love it! I use it a lot for my marker sketchbook. And I can see which ohuhus match best. 😊
Perfect!
Thanks for sharing.
lol it's sooo pretty!!! lots of inspiration.
I must say I’ve ordered the PDF but not the physical boxes. Jennifer McGuire did a review and now you! It’s a thing.
I’m so in love with the digital version I’m going to order the boxes as well! Thanks for your review.
Enjoy!
I live in SoCal and she shipped from Nevada in like 2 days. Love this. I REALLY need it. I am so stuck on the same colors. I got everything and it is so worth it. You can print them and swatch your pencils or whatever color art supplies you use, too.
I love it!
You are so right!
Definitely an amazing idea and very useful. The boxes are really pretty, too! Thanks for reviewing these.
Your excitement is contagious! I wii be looking at her site! Thanks so much Lindsay
My mind is just buzzing with the possibilities for using this system. OMG - capsule wardrobe! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Merry Christmas 🎄
I bought the set a couple months ago and absolutely love it!
She had a money saving bundle:)
I received mine today (4/12/2023) and it feels like Christmas!!!
I have both sets and they are a great companion to Sarah’s colour catalog
My want monster has been desensitized by the overload of art supplies. But this is a totally different story...*drool* This is so cool.
Thanks so much for showing these Lindsay! I love using big pops of color on my greeting cards but I've always had difficulty with the color wheel and I feel like these would work much better for me. Running over to the website now :).
Enjoy!
Wow. So fast to find things on the tablet!
This is a wonderful tool and so glad to see you demonstrate it. I ordered mine and know it will be something I can use a lot. Thank you for another great video.
These are going on my wishlist.
I'm so excited to watch this!! I got these and they are GORGEOUS and the catalog is so helpful. I have a bunch of paintings planned using these.
Also, the cubes themselves have a permanent spot on my studio desk. ❤
They are a nice decoration!
I got my preorder a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping to use them this holiday weekend. ❤️
Wonderful!
Great for gelprinting too
Great idea! Thank you!
This is amazing, and thanks to you, I am going to start saving up for this. These are truly beautiful. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I have had my eye on these for a while and have been meaning to get them. I might have to get them after Christmas!
Are their HEX codes? So cool. Thanks
I was just reading their website and it says that hex codes are on the back of the cards.
YEs, HEX codes are on both the cards and the digital catalog
Yes, I checked! On the back:)
Thanks
No worries! Good luck with the remodel!
