Hi Jennifer.....Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and talent with us. You have such a sweet personality and should go far with your channel.😊
If I well understand the power blender help the texture of color pencils to become like pastels; the most interesting part is that I can apply many layers with color pencils; I can apply the white color pencil on the black color pencil; light blue on dark blue, etc. I think that I can apply many layers before using the fixatif textures and I must wait 15 or 20 seconds before use color pencil. Thanks.
You say you start by applying the powder, then the pencil... but, do you apply the powder again after you spray the fixative, or do you work directly on the fixative?
You published this video 5 years ago. Have you been using powder blender and this specific fixative ever since? What are your regular tools for color pencil artwork?
I only use it when i do colored pencil work on non absorbing papers like sanded papers, so every now and then i use the powder blender still. But usually i like to work on finer grained hotpressed watercolor papers so i work a lot more with zest-it as a colored pencil blender medium, watercolor papers are very absorbing so the powder blender will not work on those papers. It is a very good blending medium, but limited to non absorbing surfaces, such as gessoed board and sanded papers like Uart.
@@JenWFineArts The reason I am asking was that I started painting color pencils on hardware store sandpaper K1200 (about the same P1000) grit, and I am thining of ordering a box of this powder blender, but this is not available in my city and nearby at all, so I wanted to hear your opinion before starting the procurement hassle. Thank You so much for your support.
@@miklosnemeth8566 it is worth to look into, one tiny pot will last you a long time as only a little bit of powder is needed to blend your colored pencils :)
lovely drawing and great to see the products in action. I see you say you are using pastelmat thats interesting as I was told it is too absorbant and doesnt take the powder blender. So please corect me if it isnt done on pastelmat paper by Clairefontaine
no it is done on pastelmat claire fontaine, i personally did not have a lot of problems using it on pastelmat, but on papers like fisher 400 and uart/ampersand pastelboard it works better and easier (but i ran out of pastel board so pastelmat was the only thing available for me at the time)
thanks thats interesting I have had problems with the product after using white pencil and titanium white powder. the spray didnt take nicely over it and darker colours havent worked so will try all over again which is a pity as I find the dust effects me like pastels do...
strange i used the titanium white on another piece in dry and wet form ( ruclips.net/video/oXPLjUhH-pM/видео.html ) and it did not darken when i fixed it with the textured fixative
Thank you! I don't have a patreon, maybe in the future when i know i have the time to deliver what people are paying for (right now i have a full time job so i am afraid i can't dedicate enough time to give enough to make it worth while for anyone, i'd hate to disappoint anyone kind enough to support me )
“Just another medium” doesn’t cut it. I know what OMS and alcohol are, chemically, and they have proven to be non-volatile, not do they interfere with adhesion to paper.
I'm not sure if i got your question right but did you mean how much i used it? Not much of the powder blender is needed, i just put a bit of powder down on the paper and spread it out, then lightly color over it with colored pencil and then spread the pencil particles out again with a make up sponge as if it was pastels. then you fixate that layer with textured fixative and repeat the previous steps.
Im sorry to contradict but from my own experience this is just not true. I use 100% cotton watercolor paper and I successfully use the powder blender as well as the Texture spray on it. I do my backgrounds on it with the powder blender and I do use the texture spray. It really does work well.
Alyona nickelsen the creator of the brush and pencil products herself advises against using absorbing surfaces such as watercolor paper as it won't get you the best result. Also I have watched various other youtubers try it on absorbant paper (I have tried some small samples myself on absorbant paper) and it really doesn't work as well as it does on not absorbant paper, even the pastel mat doesn't hold a candle in combination with these products as for example Uart sanded papers, as it is half absorbant (yet it works better then cotton papers and the like) brush & pencil have now developed their own kind of paper for their products, which I yet have to try but I do hear good things from it. Don't get me wrong, if it works for you then that's great but I can't advise people to use absorbant papers with the brush and pencil products when my own experience says otherwise and when the manufacturer/inventor of the product clearly advice against using absorbant surfaces.
what device are you watching them on then, because on my computer the sound is fine, i already maxed the volume in the editing program so i am not sure how to get it any louder :/
JenW Fine Arts I'm watching on my phone. I watch tons of videos every day on it and they are fine. I can hear yours if I listen close tho. I wasn't meaning to complain. I just didn't know if you were having mic issues. Your work is amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful painting and excellent tutorial Jennifer 😍 Thank you for sharing 🌻🌻
Beautiful demonstration. You are so talented. Thank you for describing the products so well.

Great video. Thank you for posting

I draw directly over the fixative and use a bit of powder in between layers.
My workable fixative works in the same way, so not sure you need a special texture one.?
I suppose it may work the same, just i haven't been able to find any of those sprays anywhere, but if yours works the same way then that is great :)

Its difficult to hear what you are saying.
Audio is horribly low.
Its unfortunate your audio is so poor. it seems as though you have great content but the audio is so poor I cannot understand it. Sorry
All your videos are very hard to hear.

It's ok :) I'm not sure why it's so soft then, i'll have to look if i can make it louder, maybe i am overlooking something in a program :)
