From 1930 through 1940, the greatest movies ever made, without a close second. Thank you for this one, never seen it before. Marlene was about 39 years old and John was about 33 years old, then.

I agree but the movies of the 50's were superb also. Richard Widmark, Gregory Peck, Gary Cooper..just to name a few and the beautiful women actresses were so talented 👍

@@catherinekeller4230 In the 30's, you had ROLAND COLMAN, ROBERT DONAT, WILLIAM POWELL, WARREN WILLIAM, CLARK GABLE, YOUNG TYRONE POWER, ERROR FLYNN, JAMES STEWART, YOUNG JOHN WAYNE, YOUNG GARY COOPER, and of course the greatest Cowboy actor of them all, TIM MCCOY. As for the WOMEN, YOU CAN START WITH; CAROLE LOMBARD, HELEN HAYES, KAY FRANCIS, LORETTA YOUNG, BETTE DAVIS, JOAN BENNETT and many others that had a "personality", could speak excellent ENGLISH, as well as "looks". So much talent.

My favorite Dietrich film! It's funny, sincere and a perfect spoof of her chanteuse character. The clothes an hats are incredible. The atmosphere is well done and the supporting cast...perfection. I am so glad it's finally on YT.

Excellent movie! Marlene was not only an excellent Actress but also a heroic patriot who served in the USO entertaining troops at the front lines during WWII, so close that her fellow entertainers joked she was trying to get them killed. A fervent anti Nazi, the German born actress made it clear she detested Hitler and his Nazi thugs. She went with our troops into Germany wearing an American Army Uniform and even suffered frost bite entertaining troops. When the war was over and all the other entertainers went home, she stayed and kept entertaining troops keeping up their moral. Marlene was not only beautiful, but classy, patriotic, and heroic as well.

Oskar Homolka was the consummate Eastern European character actor. He played everything from Russian spies to "Egor" types. Loved him in "Mr. Sardonicus". If he'd been taller, he might have been the guy to take over Bela Lugost's "Dracula" character.
I've always been a fan of Marlene Dietrich and her crazy films where she played a western dance hall girl. Who will ever forget the character modeled after her in " Blazing Saddles", "Lili Von Schtupp".
I think Miss Dietrich always had it in her contract to dance in her movies except for "Witness For The Prosecution" and " Judgement At Nuremberg".
You know, what's really funny is that Miss Dietrich WAS in real life "Lili Von Schtupp" as she did have countless affairs with her costars. Even when she was very young she had an affair with her German professor.
She did a Hitchcock movie, "Stage Fright" (1950) where she sang a song, "The Laziest Girl In Town" that could have been right out of "Blazing Saddles".
You can picture Madeline Kahn in that scene.
This movie is a version of the "Blazing Saddles" saloon scene but IF it were a far east dock side saloon with Popeye.

    The costumes ....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't!
This is waaaayyyy too much! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The hats, brooches, feathers, stones, lace, umbrellas, gloves, beads , sequins, and jewelry all at the same time plus the drawn on eyebrows, the hard contour on the nose and the white under the eyes and in the water line and highlight on the bottom lip...
at 46:15 there is even feathers on the back of the dress around the hip, a feather boa, a broache on the skirt and then she changes into 47:33 ...for 15 seconds! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This all also reminds me of Madonna's work with Bea Åkerlund. Especially in her videos for "Medellín" and "Ghost town" and "god Control" ...Always too exaggerated, always hiding the hands, unnecessary layering and maximalist, too flimsy, busy and decorative.
    It makes everyone look older...
The mens tailoring on the other hand ....fantastic!
All the men look deliciously dapper! The hair especially....
