Crob talking about BMX is like a grandpa trying to understand skateboarding! 😂 I still have my 16" pit bike 1987 Diamond Back with OG mini Skyway mags and three piece cranks. I have a PK Ripper I ride around too sometimes.
@@WolfWould those are sweeet. The amercan brands are hard to find here in europe but we geek out over bmx stuff as hard as skate stuff. Got a diamondback, redline, mongoose, raleigh burner, batavus, la pierre and a bunch of cheaper euro brands
@@frysiandude Whoah some of those are rare over here! We had a bunch of brands that were cool but didn't last. Like Auburn. Ever had of that? It had a two piece frame. Back end was bolted on was pretty sick my buddy had one.
I grew up in Kentucky and had a girl skateboard shirt in highschool and some kid came up to me and said I get it I said get what he said your shirt you want girls to use the bathroom on you
Great episode. Out everything said, I couldn't agree more than the statement "write everything down in book, not your phone." Writing things down keeps you accountable. Accountability is not a bad word.
The chunky chocolate logo actually came from a hells angels vest from the 60s. Mike Carrolls mum used to do the embroidery for the HA back. then an that logo came from that. Hecox adapted it.
I knew a kid who got in trouble for that chris robbers board in highschool. they said he couldn't bring his board to school anymore. Always remembered that graphic
"Is this a bike you would get at Toys R Us?" Crob are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!? He just said it was a $500 bike! You won't even find a $150 skateboard there! BMX had legit shops just like skating! OMG😂
As a 52 yr old SoCal kid deeply influenced by the pages of BMXAction & FREESTYLIN', also a badge holding member of clubHOMEBOY,,,,, absolutely loving this podcast. 9 Club y'all kill it!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember AJ drawings with skaters in Freestylin. Didn't Spike win a photo contest thru BMXAction mag? I was a reader of the main mag and a BMX/ skateboard kid since age 5
I have Jesus Fernandez portrait board signed by him hanging on my wall next to Javier Sarmiento´s Al Capone The Firm board also signed ✌ Salud from Madrid Spain, love you guys
no industry takes advantage of creatives more then "extreme lifestyle sports" being able to work in your passion does not pay bills while the brands would not exist without the creatives making the brands aesthetics.
It would still exist but I don’t think it would do just as well. At the end of the day a skateboard can be skated without a graphic but you can’t skate a graphic without a skateboard.
I had an old bowling shirt I'd gotten from a Goodwill - had "Mel" embroidered on the front. Swank started calling me Mel, then Mel Bend (bowling shirt + zine name).
I second your enthusiasm for wrench pilot. It was really good and probably not referenced enough for its influence on skating related art. It was a blueprint for how things were going to look.
that’s our guy! 💚
I love these episodes, because they really give you an insight of the behind-the-scenes of skateboarding and what everyone contributes to
Met Andy at Dew Tour, such a nice and humble dude.
Andy is the man, such a big inspiration! Would love to see more artists like him on the show!
Thanks! One of the best artist the skateboard industry has ever seen!
Thank you for the support!!!

I always loved the art of Wrench Pilot, was so cool and stylish.

Wish that skaters would acknowledge more about Bmx like this … get Dylan Witkin on the show !!!!
Stoked to see the SPSA hat. Channel Street crew is the best. And sick to hear Jamie Housel getting some love and respect.
I use to love those old Car-toons mags. They were the best

As an artist the 'foot in the door' reasoning is such bullshit lol exposure doesnt pay my rent.
It's just one way to start. The rest is up to the creative. Do good work all the time, be nice to people.
