They had two heads, somehow; maybe from the old Godzilla v Ghidorah fight in prehistory. Considering that Kevin is supposed to be the nice head, at worst he'd be the console skull.
You know when you’re younger siblings try to fight you because they think they’re stronger and better than you so you put them in their place? But you’ll defend them in public because only you’re allowed to beat their ass? This is what the movie felt like to me
@@youngbreezy5859 I think its a little different, the director said he used up the brunt of his atomic breath doing that hole shit which is why he couldn't overpower mecha's beam. Godzilla defeated kong using HALF his strength in that by the time the fight was over he was at 50% which is why mecha beat the fuck out of him so easily. So in conclusion, Kong was strong and agile enough to make godzilla be tired at 50% strength when he won. Kong was around godzilla's level of tiredness(one got almost killed, revitalized and just got his shoulder back in place, the other was 50 percent fighting mecha but got even more tired when he was getting thrashed). Imagine if kong and Godzilla didn't fight then teamed up, mecha would've been screwed. Kong would've had enough energy to just constantly dodge him and land smaller hits with the axe providing support, and Godzilla would've been at full capacity and be the one to mainly fight mecha. Instead, it had to be the other way around since godzilla couldn't do much other than charge the axe, and kong couldn't do much either until the axe was charged.
@@yesmang8572 the directors also said if godzilla was never tired and had all his nuclear energy mecha godzilla would have lost very fast and didn't need kings help. Mecha metal is like a tougher material used on military metals but godzilla atomic breath would still melt and destroy it easily. The producers also said the needed to tire out godzilla ( he was awake for a week stright in the film) to give kong even a chance.
It’s crazy that humanity built a mech that is 100% capable of beating the shit out of Godzilla like that. Even when it got jumped by both Titans it was beating the shit out of both of them. Humanity really is a threat in this verse.
Yeah, if not for some actual teamwork from both sides, Mdcha Godzilla would have probably won that 2v1. Of course, you could make the case that both were winded and beaten down(especially Kong) but still.
@@luckyraygun1607 Keep in mind, in Kong Skull Island, the first scene takes place in 1944, Kong was pretty big at that point, then he must've been a kid in the late 1800s.
There's a specific part of this movie that I really loved. The whole bit where Kong gets the axe. They didn't have any of the human characters spout off exposition to explain anything. They just showed you a bunch of things, and have you figure out the implications yourself. It was just done so well.
Exactly. I don't mind human characters explaining to the audience what's happening, but half the stuff they say, there's no way they could possibly know it.
As someone in the film industry, I loved the motion speed of the characters in the city. When the camera was on the ground, they moved slow like our human perspective, but then when the camera is closer to a over the shoulder of Godzilla or Kong, they are a bit quicker because its not like they see themselves moving in slow motion. On top of that some of the building destruction felt so much like breaking miniatures.
I wish they made the fight scenes similar to 2014 and the first gidorah fight in kotm. There was a kind of mysterious and ominous atmosphere while we followed humans around with titan fighting in the background. This one had more of a pacific rim vibe but twas still great godzilla film

@@eral5865 yeah, I also honestly prefer the Night Time or Stormy Day Fights that the Previous Godzilla Movies and First Pacific Rim had. It all comes down to Personal Preference between each person more than anything though, and even then everyone seems to agree it didn't take away too much from the scenes.
the kaiju on skull island did indeed hear ghidorah's alpha call, Kong resisted it but the skull crawlers answered and tried getting off the island but kong stopped them which I would've loved to see on screen

So I agreed with Rick on the fact that they moved too fast and there wasn't much weight to them. After a second time watching it though I noticed something. When it shows the human perspective they move slow, but when it's their perspective they move fast and that's because the Titans would see themselves move at normal speed, and to them they don't move slow.

yah they worked really hard to make mechagoji its own entity. cus i wanted them to lean in on ghidorah more, like play his theme in Antarctica or when they see his skull. but i like to think that since they used ghidorah as the base for mechagojis bioacoustics, when goji senses him he can feel an inkling of ghidorah, which is why he hauls ass everytime he senses it. but like i said, the way they portrayed mechagoji, its its own conscious and kaiju, its not just ghidorah again but in a mecha
30:12 Kong did submit when Godzilla was stepping on his chest. That was what Godzilla’s little nod was, to acknowledge that he’ll leave him alone now that he submitted.
I don't think he submitted at all. He was roaring right back in his face, so that really didn't feel like he surrendered. It was most likely him showing that he wasn't going to submit still, so Godzilla understood that he was true warrior, and he would allow him to die as a warrior.
Dude I yelled happily when they referenced the og kong vs Godzilla when kong shoved the axe on Godzilla's mouth like he did with the tree in the original 😂
On the subject of scale, guys, I think you're really underestimating the size of aircraft carriers. The Nimitz-class carriers, the largest in the U.S. fleet, are over 1,100 feet long, well large enough for both Kong and Godzilla to stand on. The Legendary Godzilla is the biggest he's ever been in the movies and he's still under 400 feet. There are several buildings in Hong Kong today well over 1,000 feet, of course he would be dwarfed by them. Remember in the 2014 film when a building fell ON Godzilla? I think a lot of people have an image of Godzilla stomping on buildings from the 1950s Godzilla movie, back when Tokyo didn't really have skyscrapers.
But still, even if Godzilla and Kong are the same size they would still weigh differently due to their biology. Plus, the the two other Godzilla movies showed destroy objects tougher than Kong like they were nothing.
Now imagine if you saw most scenes from Kongs perspective. And only through the girl, them signing and whats happening around them Kong (and us the viewer) are figuring stuff out.

They could cut 90 percent of the human characters out of the movie and absolutely nothing would change except for the fact that it would be far more entertaining. Except for the little girl. Her and Kongs bond was really cute.
Nothing would change? I'm sure a lot of people would complain that there's no time to breath between the fight scenes and theres not enough of human connection to the story so its not relatable etc. Even action movies are not just a huge fight scene from the start to the end, right?
"absolute nothing would change" If the Humans were cut from this Film, we wouldn't understand why Godzilla was attacking Humanity, who built MechaGodzilla and why, we wouldn't know why the Humans took Kong to the Hollow Earth (other than him getting the Battle Axe). There would have been no plot and no break from all of the Kaiju Action and Scenes.

Just realized Godzilla is like Ozymandias (Watchmen). He takes the necessary steps to destroy the bigger threat. If it means killing millions of people then that's what he'll do.
Most of that damage was unnecessary. Why did he attack Kong on the ship? And broke through Hong Kong when they were right next to a river and could have fought away from all the people? The only thing Godzilla accomplished was making sure that God-like Titan power can remain amongst wild animals and humans shouldn't have it. Apex didnt want to destroy the world with a Mechagodzilla, they just wanted to balance the power dynamic back to the humans side. Godzilla going crazy and killing thousands of people to stop an offline mecha which hadn't done anything yet, is a perfect reason why humans should have a weapon to be able to stop Godzilla. The idea of king ghidorah skull controlling Mechagodzilla came from the old movie Godzilla against Mechagodzilla (2002). The plot of that movie is that there was two Godzilla’s ,but the original Godzilla from the 1954 from destroyed by the oxygen destroyer so scientists used the bones of that dead Godzilla to make their own Mechagodzilla also known as kiryu ,but they later find out after piloting it the mech becomes possessed by the soul of the original Godzilla due to the bones being inside it so the new Godzilla has to battle Mechagodzilla controlled by the soul of the original Godzilla. I'm glad they did a "The Enemy of My Enemy Is My Friend" business with Godzilla & Kong working together against Mechagodzilla WITHOUT them actually becoming friends, they end up having a respect for each other, but still keeping the "Piss Off" thing between them, Godzilla still showed his superiority over Kong, even with Kong having a weapon, but also showed he was NOT just some mindless animal out to kill, het let Kong live after he proved himself, that was awesome !!!
The fight where Godzilla dislocated Kong's arm, he tried so hard to make Kong accept him as the king, but Kong never gave up his pride even though he would die. Also when Godzilla was about to get killed and Kong showed up, Godzilla was like "damn son, I was wrong about you" (No hate to both, I love both characters, have been following them since 2002)
To answer Aaron's "What in the World"?: The Godzilla image that appears on the floor of Kong's throne room seems to be a shout out to the mythic Jörmungandr of Norse legend, who is one of the harbingers of Ragnarok. Jörmungandr is a said to hold his tail in his jaw so as to keep the world intact; but if he lets go, the end is nigh.
I saw it and thought of the Ouroboros, though Jörmungandr fits better, here. As for the corpse theory, that could mean a couple things. 1. The Godzilla we know and love could very well be Godzilla Jr. 2. The Axe was made by the ancient Kong who slew the first Godzilla. It has one of Godzilla's backspikes, but Godzilla doesn't show any indication that he *lost* a backspike. And Godzilla seems to keep scars, so maybe it wasn't our boy that the axe was made from.

You know when you’re younger siblings try to fight you because they think they’re stronger and better than you so you put them in their place? But you’ll defend them in public because only you’re allowed to beat their ass? This is what the movie felt like to me
😂😂 You know what, you’re not really wrong. I’ve been with enough scuffles with my younger brother to see it.

Siss… I feel you 😂
When godzilla crawls on all fours to beat Kong and starts clawing at his chest...that gave me chills. Godzilla was using everything he got lol.
Godzilla defeated Kong at half capacity. The director said so himself also Godzilla used up most of his strength drilling into the Hollow earth

On top of that some of the building destruction felt so much like breaking miniatures.
I wish they made the fight scenes similar to 2014 and the first gidorah fight in kotm. There was a kind of mysterious and ominous atmosphere while we followed humans around with titan fighting in the background. This one had more of a pacific rim vibe but twas still great godzilla film

yah they worked really hard to make mechagoji its own entity. cus i wanted them to lean in on ghidorah more, like play his theme in Antarctica or when they see his skull. but i like to think that since they used ghidorah as the base for mechagojis bioacoustics, when goji senses him he can feel an inkling of ghidorah, which is why he hauls ass everytime he senses it.

2. The Axe was made by the ancient Kong who slew the first Godzilla. It has one of Godzilla's backspikes, but Godzilla doesn't show any indication that he *lost* a backspike. And Godzilla seems to keep scars, so maybe it wasn't our boy that the axe was made from.
During the final fights, I kept thinking of Eitri in Avenger's Infinity War about Thor:
"HE NEEDS THE AXE!!!!!!!!!"
Hands Down, the "Hey Asshole!" comment by Eric with Kong looking at Zilla is the best ever!
"Call me when they make mecha King Kong" OMG im dying xD
Yeah that's basically my reaction too. There are moments where I have to remind myself to turn the skeptical brain off and just enjoy the colossal monster fight club. It's just getting closer and closer to Pacific Rim. Haha
28:41 So no one is gonna talk about how Godzilla laughed about how Kong landed?
@@DerpaTure9503 true but let's just pretend that he finds it funny that Kong tripped
Godzilla respect Kong as a warrior, Kong fought him good but the crown is still his.
Long Lived King Godzilla.
I can't believe Rick doesn't like the Serizawa sacrifice from KOTM such a beautiful fantastic moment
Apex: “welp, MechaGodzilla didn’t work... y’all wanna try mecha kong?”
😳
Nah, bring on mecha ghidora lol
People act like Kong beat Mecha by himself when he had the help from Godzilla and the kid with glasses.
just that Kong could've easily let Godzilla die and saved his life.
@@sonofaquack6987 True but after the ass whoopen Godzilla gave to Kong he was tired according to the director and writers.
Yeah, Kong needed help a lot in this Film.
He barely could have tooken on the Nozukis!
I wasn't even on Team Kong, I just thought the movie made him dumby weak. Lol
Really hope Kong wins Fights on his own in a future Monsterverse Film.
I love that Godzilla punched a hole through the Earth just to yell at Kong lmao
I absolutely LOVE the camera work in this movie, really enhanced the fighting and provided a ton of cool shots.
Kong lethal weaponing his shoulder is my favorite part
“ call me when they make mecha king kong “ 😭😭😭😭 i love these guys man
Best homage: " Shut up and get in the chair!" = Evangelion
It's a good day to be a godzilla fan
oh yeah
Kong fans real quiet rn
Yes it is
INDEED!!!! Godzilla the GOAT!!
I'm a Kong fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed this flick. Props to Zilla for winning "round 3" and their first fight. Them teaming up was my favorite part of the movie though
The facial features on Kong and Godzilla were amazing. The lighting as well as action and score. What can I say? I’m a sucker for monster movies and this was a fun one. I’m not expecting dark knight or departed going into these movies ha ha. I just want popcorn fun and I got it and enjoyed it. People need to just enjoy it for what it is. This was probably the most fun I had watching a movie in a long time. Took me back to being a kid.
The jumping ship-to-ship part of the first fight is similar to Asuka and EVA-02 vs. the Angel on the open ocean.
EVA-02 was also "chained" - hooked to power cables initially.
15:55 Calvin: "He's so bulky"
Rick: "I'm God-"
Aaron: "...Zilla"
Underrated line
I was rooting for Zilla but I love Kong too. End of the day the winner between Godzilla and Kong was definitely Godzilla. Kong did put up a good fight tho and MG gave them both a good beat down before he eventually went down. I very much enjoyed the fight scenes and I’m very grateful I finally got to see this showdown between two great monsters.
yah, ive always been team godzilla, but they both fought like champs. if i was team kong id be proud
"Eric, we're talking about hollow planet theory and your saying the lighting is BS?" That's amazing, I swear Calvin and I share a brain sometimes lol
Those two things are different.
@@Nekotaku_TV i meant thats what I was thinking.
I fricken lost it when y’all started calling to “give him the chair”
