  • Hi RUclips, thanks so much for joining me in the shop for a quick project.
Please check out our GoFundMe for the Stairlift project for my sons robotics team. It is a very worthy cause.

I do a lot of plastics in my shop, mainly because being a pack rat by nature I collected a lot of this kind of material from my employers trash before I retired. It is always stringy and messy. But for those little simple jobs you can’t beat it

I click the thumbs up before clicking the start button. I'm never disappointed with a video that James publishes. Thank you for another interesting one.

Thanks for the reminder, bucks kicked in! Still waiting for you to rescue those engines from the Sprague before they get scrapped. :-)

I went and took some pics, working on a video. Need some more footage but water is high at the moment.

Thank you so much for your generous donation Brian. Just watched one of your videos with my son, he wanted to know who you were.

Sometimes it’s nice to do a simple little job! I’m going to go make a donation, I hope many other viewers will do the same!

I'm no engineer but I think a single lift point is not the way to go. I realize this is just a SCALE model for a project, but I would make it so the weight would be split equally @ two points, (if not three points) instead of one. Just saying, or if you will that's my two cents worth. If the lifting width on the project is not carved in stone, it should be made a little wider so as to get four lifting points. Anytime Kilroy is in the shop, it's a good day.

I agree. The real deal lifts from the center from those two points with a spreader bar.

Interesting and well done with one exception: this may not get a lot of use, but using threaded stock for the attachment ,is always a bad idea as the threads will chew up the pivots in short order.

Totally agree. In this case, it will be used on a metal gate, exactly once.

What is the name of the music you use for your introduction? Don't get to hear the saxophones much, but it's cool.

So here I am amused, though I don't know why, that I learned something from this short little project. My head was set on figuring out how you were going to add a tab to tie your string to. Groove not tab.

Took me about 5 seconds to know that's what I was going to do. :)

Hhhmmm, I did not realize that a historic building on the register and the rules associated with that would trump FEDERAL ADA (American Disabilities Act?).

If you do a certain amount of rehab or remodeling on the building, I think 85%, then you have to comply. Of course new construction has to comply. But you can't force people to retrofit existing structures.
