Disney Cars Fernando Alonso - Spanish World Grand Prix Racer - Custom (International Version)

- Disney/Pixar replaced Jeff Gorvette in the Tokyo party scene of 'Cars 2' for many international versions of the movie with characters who could identify with those nations. For Spain, real-life Formula One racer Fernando Alonso voiced a character of the same name and of a similar paint job to his livery. Alonso has won two Formula One World Championships in 2005 and 2006, racing for the Renault team. In 2012, Mattel released Long Ge, Mark "Frosty" Winterbottom, Jan "Flash" Nilsson, Memo Rojas Jr. and Vitaly Petrov as Super Chase die-casts, all of which only appear in international versions of 'Cars 2.' Fernando is the only other international replacement to only appear in one version of the film, yet not be released as a die-cast by Mattel, Disney Store or Tomica. The die-cast representation shown in this video is a custom by Jim Scavenger (contact info below).

Honestly I can't thank you enough Disney Docket, I've been waiting for someone other than me to do a review on Fernando Alonso for ages and he is my all time Disney Car Character because he is Light Blue and that he was my favourite Formula 1 Driver of all time I hope he deserves a second chance in Formula 1 from 2021 and he races again.
Another reason he is my favourite is because the only way you can ever and I mean only is by customs because Mattel Aren't allowed to make this as a Diecast due to licencing issues unless Alonso himself agrees

Isn't there a metallic finish Alonso roaming around the internet?
@Guillermo Pastorino Some were making and selling customs with dark blue metallic paint, looked really good. Not sure if that's a thing in the past or they are still being made.
@Guillermo Pastorino I don't judge anyone (haven't done customs like these, but I sure know how difficult it is to work with a masking tape), but that custom seemed a bit better in terms of quality - the paint was a lot smoother and less rough around the side mirrors which seems like a hassle with this model.

If you watch the movie in Spanish (Latin America) in the Tokyo party scene when miles Axelroad is announcing the competitors of the WGP you can hear that he presents a racer called Juan Pablo Montoya” which is actually a real racer from Colombia🇨🇴, so Mattel should had also made a Super chase Colombian racer.

Great diecast review, I find it really odd how Fernando didn’t get released at first I was like is this racer fanmade? But when I saw a Spanish clip from the Tokyo party scene almoast 3 years ago when I spotted him I was like how’d Mattel not release him?

The amount of variations in different releases is crazy. They are all so unique, I would love to hear the reasoning as to why they picked certain racers for certain versions. Jim did a great job with this custom! Mine would have to be Frosty because I love the Australia design on his hood. Great review as always!

Fabulous review! I highly enjoyed it! I think you're right about Fernando Alonso in real life not wanting his animated counterpart to be released as a diecast. Carla wasn't voiced by a racer, but she was voiced by a singer who's pretty big in Brazil. My favorite international racer is Frosty!

Great review! I really love this custom,most Jim scavenger customs looks like they were made by Mattel! But I really wish we would have a official release of him.
Also in Brazil Carla Veloso actually was supposed to appear in that dubbed by Claudia Leite(a famous singer in Brazil)
but I think they didn't show the version with Carla Veloso, it shows the version Jeff Coverte, so Claudia Leite actually dubs Jeff instead of Carla(but I don't know why, maybe because they didn't finish animation or they may have forgot to replace Carla with Jeff in the scene?), I honestly would have preferred have a new character representing a famous racer from Brazil like they got in Spain with Fernado.

I’ve watched the Cars 2 Tokyo Party scene in all international versions, and we always get Jeff Gorvette being replaced with some other racers depending on which country the movie is playing in. My favorite Cars 2 International chase pieces are Fernando Alonso (even though he wasn’t released) and Flash.

How do you give maintenance to the cars?
You need to make a young star series where you get Francesco Bernoulli and make them look like the F1 Cars of Max Verstappen (Car 33) Alex Albon (Car 23), Charles leclerc (Car 16) , Lando Norris (Car 4) , George Russell (Car 63) and Esteban Ocon (Car 31).
I think Verstappen should be the same model as Max Schnell. Only Leclerc would be Francesco model, and then the rest of the racers have their unique model except Lewis, Sebastian, and Fernando. Because those three did appear in cars 2

Great video DD! What they did with Fernando Alonso was very weird in the whole franchise. The first time I saw cars, they replaced Andretti with Alonso. But the paint job was different! The second time I saw it (DVD) it had Andretti’s normal paint, so I thought it would be an international version or something like that, but it seems it was a beta design! Idk how’d that happened, but I know what I saw

5:50 That's only for specific cars he was racing in, in this case the Renault's Formula One cars during the V10 era which had characteristics of being very grippy at the rear and Alonso just adapt to it to use the full potential of the car. Overall he is well known for out-driving his equipment. Snatching wins and podiums, even chances for championships with cars that technically shouldn't even be up there.
