@@DBLCreations Please try to listen to Forestella. They sang many songs enjoyable. Including the cover for this masterpiece- Bohemian Rhapsody. When I encountered Forestella, I felt like I found hidden treasures.
I was a teenager in 1975. We were so blessed to have lived through the 70's. That has to be the greatest time in history....(Even my adult kids say this.)..It's when we all started smoking pot, things were more free, music was so cool, Life was a blast.
Here in the UK you would be hard pressed to find anyone older than 5 years old that doesn't know Bohemian Rhapsody word for word, it is one of the most iconic songs EVER it's literally timeless, Freddie is the definition of pure entertainment. :D
I was brought up on queen Phil Collins dire straits genesis. I had a son and brought him up on the same music and now my 18 month old grandson listens to it. Good music never goes out of style.
It's a little amazing to have young people who never heard Queen and don't know who they are and yet they sing Queen songs all the time. At sporting events you'll hears "We are the champions" or "Another One Bites the Dust" or everyone's favorite, "We Will Rock You". Queen's music permeates our world today. Glad you're listening to their greatest of all hits.
Exactly pure talent. I was a teenager when this was first released and it was in the charts for weeks. I saw them at Live Aid in the 80s. Pure talent and this video inspired many videos that followed. I am so proud of the British music talent and for such a small island, that this island has produced so much music talent and Queen being one of them.
autotune isn't what people think it is. it doesn't make people who can't sing be able to suddenly sing. It just smooths out pitch, the obvious effect of when you use it on someone who can't sing it sounds like a robot, because you have to turn the retune speed down so far. Plenty of artists today who have music that is known for their singing ability have auto tune on their studio albums, you'd be insane to say that most of them don't have obvious vocal talent.
That's not the '80's, that is the '70's. The most amazing band that you will know so many songs once you listen. They have more songs played at sporting events than any other band ever.
This is absolute perfection!!! Freddy (RIP) is one of the best vocalists ever!!!!!!!!! He is truly missed!!!!!!! Queen is one of the best rock bands forever!!!!
@@Loxsy1975 I remember them playing “show must go on” at his funeral live on tv. The video for it will hit you given the timing of the release. Awesome tribute to Freddy Mercury.
Bohemian Rhapsody is the apex of rock opera. This song is a musical roller coaster. An amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. after Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics. He's even works with NASA periodically.
If you’ve ever seen the movie “Wayne’s World” you’ve heard this song. I do believe you are legally required to bang your head when the loud part comes in.
Everybody knows Queen they just don't realize it. React to Another One Bites the dust, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions you will remember. Love you guys. Awesome reaction.

Actually this was the 70's and that very beginning was Freddie Mercury's voice , layered over and over,I guess us what you call it. Queen was the 1st to do Opera Rock. They also are the rare band that sounds better live then they do in studio recordings
That is not layering, it is ALL the band members singing- Brian May's voice is quite high, but the drummer has the highest pitched voice out of all of them.

I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio headed to school on the bus back in the 70s. This song was so different than anything I had ever heard. I really perked up with its fusion of rock and ballad and operetta styles. I was like, WHAT IS THIS? And it’s really long. And to think this song almost never got released for being too weird. This group was super talented. Each member had mad skills. But the singer, Freddy mercury had such a unique voice. They did a lot of songs you know but they were so versatile that many of their most famous songs they are just iconic: We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions. Watch their Live Aid performance. It’s pretty phenomenal
Freddie Mercury arguably had the best rock voice ever. His voice range and stage presence was amazing. Puts a smile on any face. No joke, google happiest song ever. Then react to it. It will be queen, don’t stop me now. ❤️
Not the 80s, this was 1975, a track from their album, "A night at the opera", it spent 9 weeks at number 1 over here in the UK. An absolute masterpiece. Commercial radio stations wouldn't play it at first, as being a 6 minute song, it was considered too long, a pirate radio dj, "Kenny Everett", got hold of it and played it to death, commercial radio couldn't ignore it after this & it went stratospheric. Great reaction both & a great homage to one of the greatest bands ever.👍
I was just 7 years old in 1975. This song and what is usually called the first ever video blew us all away.. Totally stunning almost 50 years later. Queen are superb?
I think the word Asia is looking for is “power”. Freddy Mercury’s voice was amazing. This was a concept in 1975 that had never been done in rock. It was a “rock opera” as it were…….Queen was an amazing band. No doubt about it….
Just a quick note that the remaining members of Queen after hearing Angalina Jordan's version, Allowed her to publish and produce her version with their blessing. They went on to say the Freddy would have Loved her version also.. this is the only time in history they allowed this, and she gratefully excepted...
I'm 50 years old and have been listening to this song (and Queen) my whole life - probably heard "Bohemian Rhapsody" 25,000 times - it STILl gives me goosebumps. Thanks for the fun, witty, smart reaction.
I am delighted you both discovered this masterpiece of music!!! This song believe it or not was the first video ever shot of a band performance! It predates even the 80’s! It was released in the Fall of 1975! Written by lead vocalist Freddy Mercury ( pianist)! He loved opera and moc opera. If you listen to any more of Queen’s otherlywirldly music look for this gem ofc of Queen ll, album called. “ March of the black Queen’. It will melt your minds! Good day my friends!
I was 15 when this came out and believe me when I tell you, this blew us away. First of all there was no such thing as a music video so I had never seen anything like it. Queen - original and timeless. Miss you Freddie!
Same here. ^ Saw all 3 in concert and sooo many more. Dont forget Led Zep, Bad Company, ZZ Top, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Peter Frampton, Pink Floyd, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, on & on & on just wayyyy too many great bands to list and such a quality variety of music to enjoy. I also was born in 1960 and there were just so many great concerts I was fortunate to be able to attend and enjoy. Real music played by innovative talented musicians. Those times cannot ever be duplicated. Mark
Make no mistake, now - Queen was doing campy weird stuff, and they knew it, and we knew it, and everybody loved it. “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a hoot, and had us all trying to memorize its crazy mini-opera routine. This is all before mentioning how good they were (VERY good), and how hard they rocked (VERY hard). A truly unique band, and Freddy Mercury was one incredible singer/songwriter.
Freddy is a vocalist we will never see again in our lifetime!! He was one in a million… and his lead guitarist is actually an astrophysicist.. cool fact lol
The original Rock Opera, a mixture of classical music and rock the best when put together right and this can’t get any righter . Definitely a Classic. This song will go through time .
This song came out in 1975, I was 14 and Queen came onto the scene like wild fire. I remember waiting by the radio to hear this song, and I went out and bought the album. Everybody liked this song...
It is unbelievable, this video is from year 1975, so beautiful, so fresh. It was hard work to create song like Bohemian Rhapsody in this time for sure, great band
Freddy Mercury was such an amazing groundbreaker. Funny that Asia remarked about his big hair because he is almost unrecognizable to me with that. He later went to an almost military crew cut style which is how I always picture him. There is a fantastic biographical movies about Queen and Mercury that came out in 2018 or 2019, also entitled "Bohemian Rhapsody" that is really outstanding. I also recall having the same reaction as Asia when I first heard this song as a teenager in the early 80's like "wth.... is this I'm listening to????" But then it just grows on you.
I lied...oops...this is last comment though...Freddy Mercury's voice is considered one the best in music period cause of his ability to change so well. Also is the best lead singer of a band ever! Watch the Live Aid vids of their's...the way he controls a crowd is unreal!
I am incredibly grateful. I was born in 1963, we had so much great music!!! A lot of songs that were popular we sang in chorus, I learned words to some great songs! I always loved it when albums came with the words since we did not have the internet! And I am SO GLAD we did NOT!!!!! NO cameras everywhere, what a different time .....
"Before people were harmonising..." You're going to really enjoy discovering barbershop, plainsong, classical choral music... harmonising has been around since people started singing. :-)
Home Free is a great a capella group. I have to check out Pentatonix, I don't know them yet. I just heard Home Free a few weeks ago. They do a great "Man of Constant Sorrow", "The Gambler", "Elvira", "When a Man Loves a Woman", so many awesome covers.
Karyl I caught the Home Free bug six months ago and I am still caught up with them. They have more talent than most bands it is so hard to believe they have no instruments other than their own ability to create it through their mouths. I am a fan of 70's rock and 80's Country but when I came across HF it doesn't matter what they are singing. I had never heard End of the road and when I saw that and man of Constant Sorrow I was hooked
The musical chapters in the storytelling always got me. The murder, the jail, the trial, and the verdict afterwards. They change tones for each part to highlight the emotions. From the slow piano as he realizes what he did to amazing guitar as he lashes out at the world after he is sentenced.
I also think that the rock part is a flashback to his frame of mind when he murdered (who I believe to be) his lover. I always thought it was his angry reaction to the jury but recently I’ve changed my mind. I think we got a glimpse into the murder itself.
The entire song is in metaphors! Freddy didn’t shoot a man with a gun it’s a metaphors! He was struggling with being gay and he wrote this song as a farewell to his former self by putting a gun to his own head and killing the former self and apologizing to his saddened mother whom he really loved! He had a rebirth in his sad new self in a troubled life yet he didn’t care and carried on! He later died of aids in 1991 by his wrong decision and lifestyle! It was an epic song from mid 1975. The Guinness book of recorded stated that Bohemian Rhapsody was truly a MASTERPIECE and worthy of being the BEST rock song ever written! Even ahead of the Beatles, whom Queen collectively respect and admired!
I'm in my 60's and you two babies made me laugh with your comments on the 80's. I grew up with Freddie, he was just beautiful and got me through a difficult childhood. A beautiful voice and a beautiful man❤
How you felt was exactly what Freddie intended when he wrote it.. He wanted to write a song that touched on as many human emotions as possible in one track.. Mission accomplished!
This song is, was, and always be like floating on a cloud to me. Freddie was a God. And nobody could walk up and down that scale like Freddie. Queen in my opinion was a once in a lifetime deal. You guys are great. How your eyes and souls are engulfing this greatness. Beautiful
I remember this song playing on the radio continuously when I was a kid. I've since become a devoted MetalHead but I still rate this as the #1 Rock song of all time! You should check out the scene in Waynes World where it is played in the car..., I honestly think it's the best homage to Queen and this song I've ever seen. Also one of the funniest moments in film history!
It was about 1975, Queen sang that song. I was 20. Best band ever. I'm old enough to be your grandmother. But there were some great bands back in the 60s and 70s.best time of my life. I'm so pleased you, young people appreciate great music and hearing this for the first time. Not that, there isn't great music around today there is. The Queen was in a class of their own. Xx
Agreed, though I've heard a _few_ good covers, just a few though, many have _tried_ to cover Queen and failed miserably lol. The good covers tried but they can't even come close to Freddie and the rest of the band..
@@bettybaby63 YESSSS - So I’ve been avoiding Marc Martel for the same “personal” reasons. Then a Queenmate sent me a link of Martel singing Too Much Love Will Kill You!! So, with lots of hesitation & anxiety I clicked the link. Tho Marc is a good singer he’s nothing like Freddie!! The warmth, emotion, texture, vocal range, & power of Freddie’s voice is unmatched! Scientifically it’s been proven that Freddie has the most unique voice in Rock n Roll. So the conclusion is why would I listen to a cover when I can listen to Freddie??
I agree that nobody can sing it like Freddie, but Pink has done it live several times on tour and it's quite fantastic. Not just her incredible voice, but her band and back up singers are impressive on this cover as well. You should check it out!
A late comment but I was 15 when this song came out. Me and my friends were into Zepplin, Sabbath, Arrowsmith etc... when I first heard this song I was blown away. My reaction was the same as Asia's "What just happened?" I still have the record i bought of this album when it came out. And still spin from time to time. My 8 track tape didnt survive.
The song became the 1975 UK Christmas number one, holding the top position for nine weeks. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the first song ever to get to number one in the UK twice with the same version, and is also the only single to have been Christmas number one twice with the same version. 👍🏻😁🏴
One of the best band in the world! And this music is a masterpiece. Freddie oh Freddie voice is unique. Brian May one of the best guitarists. You should listen more Queen musics
"The biggest incident of dramatic license in Bohemian Rhapsody is the timing of Freddie Mercury's HIV diagnosis. In a heart-breaking scene, the singer tells his bandmates that he has the condition at a rehearsal for Live Aid. They perform the biggest show of their lives with this tragic knowledge." some musics are just sounds like life itself... for me this song is one of them.
The legendary Freddy Mercury. Arguably the best singer in recorded history so far! Sure there are people with a bigger range, but his voice in and of itself is so unique. And his power combined with a slightly raspy, but still clean as a whistle. Add his performance level to that, and you simply can't beat it!
This song is around 45 to 46 years old. It was the first one of it's kind to be over 6 minutes long with different musical sections. Also the first to ever have video made for show on a programme called Top of the Pops.. because they were touring. This song has now reached Diamond status in sales and streams...no other song has achieved this in the UK. This song will live on forever. It is a masterpiece, more so because of all the different genres.. ballad, pop, rock and Opera. Rhapsody actually means different types of genres. This song saved the band from bankruptcy and they almost thought about splitting up. This was around 1975?.. hence the outfits and hair. This type of song has never been done before or since. Freddie Mercury was a genius in music writing and production.. They all in the band wrote no.1 hits.. Another one Bites the dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga...amongst other famous songs still used today as anthems, We will Rock you, and We are the Champions.
Much like Vincent van Gogh Queen was not very appreciated in their time with this being the anomaly as they truly hit their stride late in their careers during Live Aid where they owned the show. True art though stands the test of time and in this case comes to be more and more appreciated as new audiences come to experience it for the first time first hearing its legend then experiencing the majesty of the art before them.
Some would say Ghost Love Score, and a few works of Ayreon, have this multi-phasic rhapsody quality. Then there's what KZ Tandigan did with Rolling in the Deep on The Singer

In the US too, probably to world

They've heard this before.
Pure human talent. No autotune. No computerised input. Live instruments. Pure masterpiece!
so kraftwerk for robotizing their voices in the 70s are less?
Exactly pure talent. I was a teenager when this was first released and it was in the charts for weeks. I saw them at Live Aid in the 80s. Pure talent and this video inspired many videos that followed. I am so proud of the British music talent and for such a small island, that this island has produced so much music talent and Queen being one of them.
@Only Good Music , no comparison between Queen and Kraftwerk here. This is all about Queen here
autotune isn't what people think it is. it doesn't make people who can't sing be able to suddenly sing.

Only the last fact I didn't know. I am however not in the least surprised.

@@odochartaighofodonegal9815 not at the beginning. It is only Freddie Mercury's voice. The section where it looks like a court room, is where all but the bass player John Deacon sang.

This song was from 1975, Christmas number 1
