Love your content 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
You should try James Mays line of Gin, it’s marketed as “asian parsnip” and mustard, he also has a couple of recipes on his website
I toured Foursquare distillery in Barbados where they make Real McCoy. All the rums I tasted there were fantastic. I had to buy some that you can’t find in the states.
You don’t like Mezcal? Probably haven’t tried good cocktails with them. Recommend trying the Oaxacanite, Maximilian Affair, Naked & Famous, etc..
That Odin's Skull is going in my cabinet, it sounds like heaven.
Conversely, I used to leave a bottle in my mailbox as a holiday gift for my mailman.
My mom has been a mail carrier for 10+ years and has racked up quite the bar stock from these gifts !
I do this too! I only check the mail once or twice a month and it stacks up in there. So I like to give them a little gift as a thank you for putting up with me.
Damn I'm a loser I don't have the money for my own alcohol
@@jetcitykittyI didn’t either, until I did. If you stick with doing what you love, it’ll pan out eventually, one way or another.
As a mail lady , TY . We love this stuff
Thanks for sipping & for the kind words! Yep! ours is a true Barbados rum with no added sweeteners or flavors and authentically 100% aged on the island a full 12 years -- with 6-8% annual evaporative loss or "angel's share"! - But we think it's worth it! ;). Cheers!
This was fun, but specifically because it turned out to all be good stuff. Call me weird, but I like seeing you enjoy things, so seeing these products work for you makes me want to see more.
A happy Greg is a good Greg
Particularly when it's so "this _probably_ has some stuff he'll find terrible in it" and then it just... doesn't.
Yeah; I don't mind seeing Greg suffer for us sometimes.. But I also really like when he genuinely and thoroughly enjoys something. There's a certain energy that comes from him, and it's infectious. (in a good way)
Hey Greg! Thanks for the feature in this video and glad to see our package made it to you! We're excited to see that you could pick out the details of our products and put them to the test one by one! The Paloma was a great choice for the Grapefruit Cordial and is a favorite here in our office as well! The Old Fashioned Soda is also a great spin! Let us know what other cocktails you'll be making with these, we're interested to know! Cheers!
Big fan of your Grenadine, Orgeat, and Demerara Gum Syrup.
This video definitely sold me. 👍
Your change my mind series is soooo good
We're big fans of your stuff in this house. Cheers!
I love you're guys Orgeat! I keep some on hand at all times. Now I need to try the Grenadine.
I honestly think that BECAUSE they are so hyper-specific, it would be really fun to have an episode dedicated to getting several vastly different cocktails out of these syrups. It might not be useful for regular bartending, but for the individual? I think it would be cool!
I was recently in St Augustine and I had a tequila drink make with green curry syrup which was hyper-specific but so good
I was going to make exactly the same suggestion. I love to see Greg’s methodology and thought process when workshopping a cocktail, as well as seeing the the drink itself
If you look on sites like Difford's guide half the drinks call for hyper specific syrups. Hell I saw one drink call for cucumber sugar syrup. This is just the direction modorn mixology has been headed in.
Fun fact the real "Real McCoy" was Elijah McCoy. He was a black, Canadian, engineer most famous for inventing a self-lubricating mechanism for steam engines.
So McCoy was all about that piston action, huh? A lot more than he was on Star Trek... xD
True! And also "Kid McCoy," the savvy boxer, and Prohibition's gentleman rumrunner, Cpt. Bill McCoy, who was known for never adulterating his rum. Speakeasy patrons up & down the East Coast knew to ask for "The Real McCoy" to avoid the "booze" and "hooch" which might have anything from water & prune juice to turpentine added. 😬 Always go for the real deal. ;)
I would enjoy a once a month "Greg's Mailbox" episode. At least every couple of months depending on the quantity of things you receive or order.
Does anyone else want a book of all the funny and weird tasting notes that they put up on the screen? Like maybe a coffee table style book? I think it would be really fun, especially maybe reading the notes without the context of what Greg is saying about it.
Maybe every right hand page is the notes over Greg's face, like a title page, then every left is a quick bit of what Greg actually said and the recipe associated with the thing on that _sheet_ - so you don't see the context and the notes at the same time.
Hey Greg, just wanted to thank you for all the quality content. I found your channel right after turning 21 a few years ago. I worked as a cook in a higher-end restaurant at the time and between you and the bartenders I worked with I learned to appreciate alcohol for more than it's get-you-drunk potential.
I just turned 25 and am still impressing my friends with quality old-fashions and rum-flavored crème brulees. I've learned a lot from you and have even bought several of your reading suggestions, such as "Liquid Intelligence". You've helped me learn how to truly appreciate alcohol and have even helped me develop my palate.
I have a recipe with my name on it at a restaurant I used to work at, I built that recipe using knowledge you helped me gain. So THANK YOU, I cannot truly express my gratitude beyond that. I hope you, your family and everyone else in your life is doing well.
This is an awesome comment
This is wholesome ❤ love it !
When did he make rum crème brulee?
@@ryanahr2267 He hasn't as far as I know, but I've used his video on rum to make my own rum crème recipes.
What's the drink called?
I love this, I hope you'll dedicate some more episodes to it. Easy content with free stuff for you, entertaining recommendations for us.
i thought this was gonna be a ted kaczynski martini video…
Oh my god
What is in that? I could not find it in my search engine?

Those syrups sound amazing to just mix with some carbonated water.
Always exciting to see new Greg Approved Booze™! Some of those fruit syrups at the beginning are definitely tempting. Like you said about the Christmas syrups, I appreciate when mixers can be used for more than one hyper-specific drink.
100% do another mailbag. This was great.
I didnt really notice this until now, but I like your custom soda bottles lining the back wall, even though they are from game franchises it feels more custom than just having already made bottles with their lables on the wall.
They’re from old episodes I did, I recently reworked the bar and the stuff back there now is like “episode trophy wall” kinda
@@howtodrink I just noticed them, and I saw the Nazi Zombies sodas. I nerded out so hard. NGL, miss the deer head.. but the new set still looks great, Greg!
Just like a podcast with a Mailbag Episode every so often, this is fun! As you said, the specificity and random combination of what comes really puts ideas in your brain you won't have otherwise.
I buy a bunch of liber and Co tonic syrup for my gin and tonic so I don't have to get the shit from the store. Might be a good episode to make a bunch of non alcoholic drinks with the syrups. I just make them into sodas because I hate water.
I am definitely a fan of a mezcal paloma. Jarritos grapefruit or in a pinch Squirt is my preferred mixer - white grapefruit is more bitter than pink/red, and I feel like that bitterness works better with the mezcal's smoke.
I thought I was the only person who liked using Jarritos as a mixer, cheers to your excellent taste!
I also love the taste of mezcal and grapefruit- had a cocktail at restaurant-bar that had mezcal, grapefruit soda, and one of their in-house brewed sakes in it. Definitely better than the squirt palomas I was downing at a college get-together once. I haven't been able to get my hands on some good grapefruit soda yet, but I have a bottle of mezcal just waiting to be made into many mezcal palomas
The cocktail & Son portion really made me happy. I bought the advent syrups on a whim last year and ony used the wassail, tonic, and blueberry by this point, but seeing this made me dig out the box to try the woderwall , and definitely agree it was a great drink, but the syrups are largely too specific to be used unless you willing to be creative, with such a small quantity of syrup.
I use Liber's orgeat exclusively. I cannot be bothered to do homemade orgeat. So much work! Big fan of them.
As far as mojito 'mix' goes, ive found grinding up dried mint and sugar into a powder can do some good things! Just pour a scoop into the glass over ice, top with rum and the soda. Granted, it turns the drink completely green and murky but it tastes fantastic.
Well shit, it's nice sometimes to see Greg just enjoy basically everything that comes across the bar.
This was basically a 20 minute ad but I am not complaining. Still educational and entertaining. Keep hustlin', Greg.
The Cafe Rojo recipe on the liber and co raspberry syrup is one of my favorites. Coffee, Rum and Raspberry sounds odd, but oh is it delicious.
It's a great cocktail for sure!
This is the fastest I've ever made it to a HTD video lol
I recently moved to the city where I can now buy liber&co syrup from the liqour store and it makes it hard for me to justify making my own anymore
This was not how I expected this video to go tbh, far more positive results than anticipated. Nice to see
Really love episodes where you review stuff, doubly so when the stuff is good enough for you to want to experiment with them!
I love how every sponsor segment HTD does is either genuinely entertaining or just him being hungry af
That was a genuinely interesting watch, would love to see more of it.
I loved this episode. Super fun, really interesting. I'd love to see more things like this! The honest reviews, the selection, the drinks! I love it!!
I work at a brewery and I’ve been experimenting with beer syrups in cocktails, I’d love to see you do an episode on them!
This was a super fun episode and I'd love to see you do more!
Awesome video Greg! Would love to see more videos like this
Absolutely love Liber & Co. So happy to see it on the channel!
This is a fantastic episode. I love a good unboxing/fanmail episode, personally :D I would love to send you some of the gin and whiskey the distillery I work at makes, and I'm sure many other commenters feel similarly about some locally-made thing or their own workplace's spirits. Maybe invest in a PO box! Cheers Greg, always a joy to watch.
I love Liber&Co’s Orgeat, and the bottles are nice to use for your own homemade syrups after they’re finished.
Yeah, do more of this. I like to see you pleasantly surprised. It's fun to see your in-the-moment reactions.
those syrups sound incredible. I might have to look into those.
This was a good episode because you were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the drinks you had, describing them beautifully. It could be the first of a three-part episode with you making cocktails from all the syrups and mixers. I think it would be interesting, informative, and enjoyable, and I hope you'd enjoy most of the drinks.
Love watching your show/channel! One of my favorites was you Jimmy Buffett episode, super jealous of the signed picture you’ve had up! Fins up and drink on!
great episode, loved it!!
Really happy to hear you liked the Liber and Co orgeat. That's what I use when I don't want to make it myself. Gotta try some of their other stuff now!
I introduced my mom to the whiskey old fashioned and now it is her favorite drink. Before that she would drink a horrible rotgut mix of 50% Southern Comfort and 50% lime margarita mix.
This was cool. I've actually been hesitant about the Odin's Skull, but will try it on your recommendation. Thank you for your service.
Red grapefruit is a castrated version of white grapefruit. Only very old people who cut white grapefruit in half, sprinkled each half with sugar, and ate the segments with serrated grapefruit spoons might possibly understand how much grapefruit has changed!
I like it, nice to see some different stuff and what they're good for.
Greg this was a great new type of episode. Definitely would like to see more of these. I like the idea of "let's see what's in Greg's mailbox" theme.
id honestly love to see you make cocktails out of all those syrups!
Those all look great! If I had space for a home bar I would look into Liber and Cocktail and Sons. The Watermelon Thai basil sounds appealing!
I'm generally iffy about purchasing expensive bottles of wine, but your incredibly positive reaction to Odin's Skull Mead makes me more willing to try it
Greg's maibag sounds like a good series.
That cutting board is gorgeous!
Been enjoying your videos since learning about your channel. & today I’ve bought a bottle of Monkey Shoulder to try.
I really like this product review special.
Was a fun mailbag episode. Gave me and my wife some laughs.
I have a couple of those liber syrups, glad they got your seal of approval. Just in case you didn't see the fine print, the ones that I have all recommend refrigeration after opening!
The Viking Blood honey wine is FANTASTIC when mulled over low heat.
I love the liber orgeat. Both the Mai tai and the army navy recipes on the bottle are excellent.
Loved it, more mailbag!
Liber & Co syrups are awesome! I've tried quite a few and have yet to be disappointed.
I am a brand leaving an appreciative comment after you featured our product! We are the best! Cheers!
Loved this video!
this was a good episode!
I love liber & co (especially their orgeat and ginger syrup) so I like seeing them get some love! I’m lucky enough to live by a store that carries their stuff
The passionfruit syrup works great in a lot of Smugglers Cove recipes as well. They’re great stuff to build out the tiki arsenal
Definitely added a few things to my shopping list!
I’m so glad I got to see your opinion on xicaru. I work with RDNC and that stuff flys out of our warehouse. Another spirit you need to look out for is woodford reserve rye to me it almost has a mint back note to it that almost reminds me of a good mint tea 🤤
Hey I got ya on that liber co. Been using em for awhile cause you got me into this whole cocktail thing.
1. Rainbow sherbert sour- Hendricks og, lime juice, liber blood orange, egg white (shaken). Bitters like raspberry or something if you want a little complexity.
2. Key lime pie- Pilar blonde rum, lime juice, liber orgeat, egg white.
Bonus drink (my favorite) -- Bourbon amaretto sour: 1:1 favorite cask strength Bourbon (the funkier the better imo): lazzaroni peach, with pure cane or light brown simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg white. Peach bitters.
I like sours if it's not already apparent. I feel like the egg whites can represent a merengue or sherbert amazingly. And using gins and rums in what i consider sours, but may be classified differently, along with the liber type flavored syrups can make a simple drink complex in all the best ways. Careful with the sweetness however.
Love the misc stuff!
Hey Greg awesome vid thank you.
That Odins Skull bottle apple mead sounds awesome!
That Liber & Co Old Fashioned syrup is legit! I do add another dash of bitters to mine, but with that syrup I can be super lazy and make INCREDIBLE Old Fashions. Their Fiery Ginger Syrup is also baller!
A neat idea for a show that I would say went very well.
Hey Greg, love the show. I'm curious about the full recipe for the Wonderwall, you said there was triple sec in there but I didn't hear a measurement. Would love to try it!
Great video! More like these would be welcome. My least favorite vids are the nightmare drinks, though the funniest for me was the 70s one.
Just popping in to say I love the show, thanks for my go-to…everything…spec!
Funny that you got dark fruit cake from that Rum cocktail...I get xmas pudding from mixing OVD dark rum with coke. I think those syrups are really for those occasions when you wanna have a subtle different twist on a regular cocktail without changing up the ingredients so much.
Liber & Co makes a wonderful passion fruit syrup but that’s the only one I’ll use
Love when you try new things and experiment on the shows. Would love to see a show about medicinal and herbal style cocktails.
I love this kind of stuff, especially to see whats out there that may be helpful (convenience syrups) and good to someone like me who has a lot of mobility problems and thus cant just. Make my own syrups and stuff hhaha.
Also idk its just fun watching greg review stuff. Its good stuff
You should try their toasted coconut syrup! It’s AMAZING!
very fun video. would love to see more of this
Good shit man, thanks as always liked and of course subscribed.
Oh I've had Xicaru mezcal before!
The one I had was a reposado and was real good. Was also pretty sweet
I've started making my margaritas with a split base of tequila and mezcal. 1.5 oz tequila to .5 mezcal really adds interest to the cocktail without overpowering anything.
I love mezcal! Part of the taste reminds me of a childhood candy which I can't exactly place. Especially in a Paloma with chili flakes. Currently I'm trying to make a Szechuan pepper simple syrup for a spiced mezcal Margherita. Whish me luck haha!
The liber & co orgeat is really good in a Mai tai. I tried to make my one until I found that at a local specialty shop.
I am so glad Liber was good across the board. We use their passionfruit syrup & find it difficult to get good versions otherwise.
Liber and Co is great, they are based here in Austin and a lot of the local bars use their syrups.
i love buying interesting syrups to mix w gin and soda! i don’t think anything needs to have a specific purpose! just a way to spice things up!
so I got a bottle of mezcal recently, and have been messing around with a few different directions to take it, because yes it is a very powerful flavor, but this one is my current favorite:
2 oz mexcal
1 oz lime
1/4 oz peach schnapps
1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz campari
optional egg white
top with club soda and garnish with an orange twist.
This is fabulous stuff!
the syrups are so interesting :O
Have you done a bitters episode? If not, I recommend The Bitter Housewife. Their cardamom bitters are in regular rotation for me
I like mixing the Liber & Co. raspberry gum syrup with an apple whiskey/bourbon.
2nd liber and co syrups. great stuff
I’m gonna have to keep my eye out for the Liber & Co things. Don’t get much in that way (or liquor for that matter) up in Canada.
I’ve actually made a stout beer syrup that I used for a St Paddy’s day inspired cocktail that one oerson ordered at my old work. Lol.
They're on Cocktial Emporium's online store, they're based in Toronto.
@@SuperStarr817 good to know! Thanks for the heads up!
Some simple show ideas are 1: see what drinks go with what foods actually. 2: can you really make different spirits with neutral alcohol. 3: what are the best variations from the classic drinks. Sorry if you’ve done any of these before.
Cool episode. Dug the vibe.
