Awesome video! I like seeing the good people still out in the world helping. I was riding my quad on some snow covered roads and broke down, and some guy with a truck stopped and we threw it in there and took me home.
I know the feeling. Except. I done this with a way smaller sled. With no reverse. Miles from home by myself. My arms were noodles.. also you need to know when to bail when you can feel that ur gonna get stuck..
Just spent 3 1/2 hours tonight trying to get mine unstuck here in Talkeetna, AK. I ventured onto the wrong main trail. I was also by myself and even brought my shovel. I was able to ghost it a few times but I ended up giving up until tomorrow. Walked home. Luckily I wasn’t too far away. Part of riding and exploring is getting stuck IMHO. Wish I would’ve had a partner in crime to help out with the process though. Enjoyed your video. 👍
I have 3 ft powder around my place right now and I just have a regular track sled... I like to call them powder anchors. If can't keep up my speed or have a big enough area to turn around in I get stuck every time and my back and shoulder is hurting pretty good because of all the digging out I've been doing. It is a pretty awesome feeling though staying on top of all that powder that is untouched. Reminds me of riding a stand up jet ski.
Lonekiter Rocky Sounds like a blast! I wish we got more snow like that where I live, kinda inconvenient having to drive hours to any destination that has more than a foot of snow

If you think that sucks I got my 630 lb 2001 Pantera 1000 stuck in 4 feet of powder before. Somehow I was able to lift that pig and get out even with a shot belt. Just a little tip for you that did wonders for me. Just walk in front of the sled making a trail by just compressing snow and kicking it out of the way and compress a platform next to the track then lift it onto that
I feel your pain. I got my 141 swapped 650 triple stuck and boy was that a doozie. No pin and wiggling to get out of mine. Had to shovel a 10ft. patch out of the powder to get it out.
I have the same sled just upgraded to a pro 800 shes got alot more power and that snow must be rock hard cause i know ive gotten stuck like that and if i dug the front out i could pin it and wiggle to get moving again.
Shove the snow in front of your ride to clear a path about 5 feet for a good start then pick up the track and move it to the side of the trench you made the and fill it up with snow so your track doesn't just go back in. Takes a little work but allot less then what I just seen. Just looking out for ya and hopefully this advise helps.
I’m 17 120 pounds dripping wet. If I get my sled stuck I pack the snow near and around my sled down, then pack a section near the track, slide the track over. Then get back on, shift my weight side to side and it works it self out, this is painful to watch that belt.
Haven't been in much deep snow since I live in southern Wisconsin. We just took a trip to the UP to ride some powerlines in the 4+ feet of snow. I just posted one video, more to come! This INDY actually made it through the stuff alright surprisingly.
I'm headed up to Ishpeming with my brother this Thursday for the weekend. Hopefully it keeps snowing around here and we could go for a rip around home some time after that.

When he first sunk in, pull the skis up, walk infront of it for a bit, pick the track up and it would've came out. I wouldn't roll it over with that tall windshield on there.
@@Racer57 Looking back on it there's about 20 different/better ways I could have gotten out a lot easier. In the moment, gassing it seemed like a valid option, boy was I wrong! Moral of the story, a 550 fan sled has no place in a 3 foot drift.

I've been in this position myself as many of us have been, and many of those other options don't come to mind when your knee deep in the ditch and pissed.

I get super embarrassed when I get thrown from my sled or slip up and look like I have no idea what I'm doing. But it happens. Keep bangin those ditches.

Would loved to have had a beer with the guy to thank him. This is the wisconsin way, help someone out when you can and someone will return the favor when you need help. This sled is awesome for the snow we get. Super fluffy light snow drifts are definitely not it’s forte though!

On a less than capable powder sled. Stuck or not, you should always pack the snow under the belly and on front of it. Otherwise all else is pointless. Not hating, just had this happen all the time
Not sure if you watched the video or not, but there were multiple times I picked the track up onto fresh snow, the skid gets crazy heavy when packed full of snow. Don't know how half throttle would have helped over full throttle. Mountain sleds are cool, but not when you live in Wisconsin and get snow like this once every few years.
Should have been out of that in 2 minutes, with just some basic riding technique in getting sleds unstuck. Never sit or stand on the sled if you're trying to get it out. Pack down the snow in front of the belly and skis, hop the track over a little bit. Stand on the mag side, grab the throttle with one hand, and the tunnel rack with the other, so you have a firm grip to pull. First couple times you were basically just standing there on it or near it, watching the track spin, making things worse. Lots of videos on youtube to help teach you techniques in getting unstuck alone. Would have made that a simple matter, versus being there long enough to require more help.
I used to just hang onto the bars and let it drag me to a place I could stop rather than stopping once I got out. Usually can get out by just getting the track on up on top, give the skis and belly a few feet of patting down and give it Gordy. Lots of newbies start out on these monster today try a 440 or 500 first, something light, if that's an option. I guess I really like the Polaris Edge chassis, good for anyone, and they made a 340 version.
I agree that there were better ways I could have gotten out a lot quicker. The last few times I was in deep stuff like that I was on an 800 with a 155 2" paddle track and would just hammer out of similar situations. I probably could have just walked with it giving it a little bit of throttle and been right out. Next time I'll have to use a little more technique!
@@heatmoon This sled is a two up Polaris 550 fan, absolutely not a monster lol. I came from riding 480 Phazers so definitely know the struggle of under powered sleds.
@Timms MC Tracks aren't designed to just pull you forward, they are designed to lift you up onto the snow also, that's why lugs angle the way they do. Putting extra weight on the tunnel just causes the back end to dig instead of lifting up and propelling you forward. The ONLY situation where more weight on the rear end will help, is on some type of hard terrain. Loose snow, always want as little weight on the sled as possible.

Thanks! It's the Gopro 7 Black, pretty crisp. When the whole skid is full of snow they get quite a bit heavier than when they're dry. Definitely could have used a bit more power and more track in these drifts!

Connor Teigen it’s technically a two up sled. I just took the seat backrest off. I do like the longer track because it smooths the bumps in the trail out more than a short track. I’m also a bigger guy so having the stiffer suspense of a two up sled is nice.
Wisconsin Outdoors And More yea I have reverse on this sled, helped a little but not much. I was just out for a rip on our land. If I had to I could have walked a few minutes back to our house and gotten some help to get out.
The thing about ditch banging is you aren't far from help. Riding alone properly geared is ok, especially in ditches along county roads. But your right, better to have a buddy if you got when getting deep into the swamps or woods, or trails. Especially beginners or those who can't walk a few miles in snow, or people who ride stuff held together with tape.

jesse budge definitely was made to be a trail sled... but has the ability ride in deeper snow with the longer track. Just need momentum since it’s a slow 550.
Dylan Smith look up snow accumulations for upper Michigan. Where we were it was 76”. When we’d stop and step off we were up to our chests and still not touching the ground.

I love the drifts on my 11’ switchback 136” very rarely do i get stuck but it’s usually pretty easy to get out

Not a voyager, it's a INDY 550 LXT. Has a 1" lug on the track and no power. I should not have jumped on it and gassed it, that was the main issue.
I've never gotten stuck with my 154, but on the 121 ZX I've gotten stuck a couple times

Yo u shouldn’t press the throttle when you are about to get stuck u stop driving and get off the sled and push the throttle

Looks like the track is a little big to be a trail sled
Connor Teigen it’s technically a two up sled. I just took the seat backrest off. I do like the longer track because it smooths the bumps in the trail out more than a short track. I’m also a bigger guy so having the stiffer suspense of a two up sled is nice.
Ok it looks cooler and stuff and I realized that it was a 2 up trail sled but when you took off the back seat it looks longer
And btw you have a nice snowmobile

Wisconsin Outdoors And More yea I have reverse on this sled, helped a little but not much. I was just out for a rip on our land. If I had to I could have walked a few minutes back to our house and gotten some help to get out.
The thing about ditch banging is you aren't far from help. Riding alone properly geared is ok, especially in ditches along county roads. But your right, better to have a buddy if you got when getting deep into the swamps or woods, or trails. Especially beginners or those who can't walk a few miles in snow, or people who ride stuff held together with tape.

MisterSlate Msc yea it’s a 550 fan trying to turn a 144 track with my 250 ass on it in powder. Definitely more than this trail sled is capable of.
@@MattMcHugh257 Exactly, I think if you put some different clutch weights into it, you could run higher rpms, and be more in the power. But yes it was never made for that. You're quality testing! Lol

jesse budge definitely was made to be a trail sled... but has the ability ride in deeper snow with the longer track. Just need momentum since it’s a slow 550.
Dylan Smith look up snow accumulations for upper Michigan. Where we were it was 76”. When we’d stop and step off we were up to our chests and still not touching the ground.

@@joshclark186 Didn't think I was banging it back and forth fast enough to do damage. I'd make sure to let the RPM's fall then hit the button and slowly engage the clutch then hammer it.
