If i get stuck with my voyageur its because i screwed up. After the first few times i got er figured out and i rarely rarely get stuck now. It's a good sled. good on gas and goes anywhere. I love mine and when it comes to replace it i'll buy another.
You're telling me your voyageur would have made it through this snow where I got stuck? No chance, they don't have the power or the track to get through deep powder on any amount of an incline. I definitely like the sled and it goes through a decent amount of stuff, but compare this to 800s with any bit of track on it and there's no contest.
@@MattMcHugh257 I couldn't say because I don't the exact conditions you had there but I've been in slush, hilly terrain with 3 feet of powder and everything in between and I've rarely gotten stuck. When I do its because I lost momentum or cut too hard and lost bite. Comparing a 550 to an 800 is apples and oranges. Of course the 800 will do it better
Great vids 👍. She’s a little on the low side regards to power but get at least a 1.5 inch lug track or bigger and will make a big difference. Did u upgrade the track yet?
Thanks! No, this is my backup trail sled at this point. Wouldn’t be worth making it worse on the trail for the few times I go off trail with it. The issue a lot of times was the lack of power more than the lack of track.
@@MattMcHugh257I was thinking taller lugs too. What about a pipe? The phazers build alot of power with pipes. Idk if there even available for the 550. I would think so.
Those Trail RMK's have the specs of the SKS, they should have called them SKS. One thing that is huge on those is the front skid limiter strap. Let it out to max length setting and the front wants to jump on top of the snow. Then you'll have a chance to work with what power and lug it has. Of course it won't steer worth a crap on hard pack but, if you don't like getting stuck...
The wrapped sled is an SKS. Letting the strap out would be fun to just pull wheelies all the time, but would lead to bad trenching when in deep powder, there's a fine line with that adjustment. How it's set up from the factory is great for how we ride in the midwest, trails to get to the powder and the powder really isn't even that deep.
Ive got 2000kms on my 2018 155 550 and never had a issue. I covered the vents on the hood because snow got in and froze the throttle cable. Sled has a jaws can on it and is a beast in breaking trail. Very capable just lacks power to pull the skis up... with the pro float skis it floats right on top of the snow
Have your buddy ..drive by stuck sled as close as he can ..now all you have to do is wiggle and lift the stuck machine over onto the trail he jus made ..maybe dig out front end a lil ..ski pull ..when you get 10 feet plus ..you learn how to get unstuck fast !
Yea every time we get stuck we get a little better at getting out. This video was the last stuck of the day after two days of riding so we were both pretty worn out!
@@MattMcHugh257 i still have my old sled a 1998 Polaris indy 488 super sport and it gets the job done i just wanted a mountain sled for Minnesota snow this year
Glad you liked the video! That's what makes it fun lol, I have some other videos riding on the powerlines in this snow and it actually gets around OK. Definitely nothing like a mountain sled, but fun to be able to cruise down the trail then hop onto some powder here and there.
I was thinking about 550 fan sleds for my partner and I but after hearing this anemic motor here ... I dunno anymore. I want air cooled simplicity so... maybe the skido 600 efi
Uppishkiller Gameing and riding Yea a 144 with a trail oriented 1” lug. I’m sure your 600 has a lot more sack than this 550 fan. I would expect a 600 with more lug to make it further. This 550 just doesn’t have the power or track to make it up hill in deep stuff. On flat it can get around.
Ya i don’t think it would have that much less power but I guess you should have you floatation with the longer track but I guess not lol. But good vid!! I subbed for ya!
@@tanksniper09__58 lol, not physicists I see...your track can be 200", if you're rocking 1" lugs, you aint going nowhere fast. Now, if you keep that 144" length, but bump to a 2"+ lug, then you'll get more traction in powder, but obviously will need more juice to pull those lugs... go 800 with 1.6" lugs....129" track or 2" x144" 800...best all rounder... what setup was your friend riding?

I have the voyageur 155” with 550 Motor.
It does very good in the deep powder
Andre Stenbäck yea they aren’t the best but they get around somewhat
My 155 550 voyageur goes anywhere. Its rider ability that gets you stuck. I go places all the big dogs go.
@@walkerl2482 Is the 550 enough motor to run the 155 in deep powder, up hills and whatnot? How does it ride on the groomed trails?

It's 12-15' snow depths in Idaho. I'm liking this sled.
Your lucky you had your buddy with you, I got my 550 stuck alone twice lol
Things are a real pain to dig out alone!
When you got stuck I thought you just was going to give full gas while your friend was dragging your ski
That’s why I always pack a shovel. Just gotta shovel around the Polaris and off you go. I got stuck thousands of times.
i hear these sleds have overheating issues? Have you had any issues, or any modifications to the shroud?
NO issues with overheating - no modifications at all. I wouldn't worry about overheating on this sled

It’s actually quite the opposite. Mine has never overheated even after hours of riding at a time.
I have this exact sled with a 121 track and I’m scared for when there’s actually deep snow.
Oh man I couldn't imagine a 121 track version of this sled in any amount of powder lol!
I put 151 rmk track and suspension on mine, goes any where ! bars up, 200-350 lb skidoo clutch spring max 1062 belt
