I gotten fitted at a NB store on their machine that you step on. Snapped a pic of the screen analysis. Learned a lot it gave me the NB shoe size number and width and surprisingly they were different for each foot. But what’s cool about going in store is you get to try them on. I don’t necessarily think the screen results are accurate to the actual production shoes. Each shoe number line can be different too in terms of sizing

New Balance isn't devoting much production time to the 993 anymore. They don't ever have all sizes in stock -- not even the most popular sizes. I love the 993 but after Covid and the supply issues started, NB stopped production of the 993 and never brought it back to the full production level it had prior to Covid. Such a shame. I think it's the best shoe NB has ever made. Great looking, excellent support and really comfortable. Hope NB decides to step up production of this shoe again soon.
@@picanha694 Thanks but they usually don't have Wide in stock in my size, which is a pretty average size. I don't think NB is investing much production time in the classic 993 anymore. NB is all about "trends" and new "collabs" now. Good foot health is not the priority anymore.
I have the 993 in grey. I just got the 990v5 in navy. The 990v5 in navy comes with navy laces which looks great. I get them at the factory outlet in lawrence MA (where they are built) and they are seconds but no one can tell. NB sells them for $100
I have bought a few pairs of new balance sneakers 👟 and they were ok but they were under 100 bucks. I just bought a pair for a little over hundred dollars and wow super comfortable and now I looking forward to getting the more expensive because they will be totally worth it 😊
Just a cool fun fact for the creator: New Balance always has a throwback 990 that’s available with the current generation (the 990v5 right now) that’s 3 generations older. So when the 990v4 was current, the 992 was the throwback option they had available online and when the 990v6 is out, the 990v3 will be the throwback one.
V5 is the best and most comfortable shoe i ever bought. Its.more comfortable than my sea salt 9060 which are heavier. The 990v5 are just as comfortable but lighter! For better everyday use
I'm a 10.5US in Nikes, and just bought my first pair of New Balances, ever. 990v5 is what I got. Got the standard fit, hope they aren't too big or too small, I have heard both sides of the spectrum lol. My foot is normal tho, not too skinny and not too wide, hope it's fine..
I had the 990v3 they lasted forever, although they felt too stiff to really jog in which was upsetting because I had mostly used NB as my running shoes (hard to find a 14 in stores, but NB always delivered lol)
@@guynkicks I've never had a pair not last 3 plus years. Usually I would transition them from my gym shoes to regular shoes because I never cared for style much, just performance. I currently have the summits which I've have for far longer than I can remember. Literally looking to get the new 990 or 993 because both my summits and brooks adrenalines are like 3 years old and one of them has to go lol
I went 990v4. IMO they look better than v5 & v6. 993 is the better for comfort, but for me the 990v4 beats all of them in styling and I find them plenty comfortable.
I prefer the look of the 993. Both pairs give me Brooks vibes. I guess it depends how you wear them with and outfit. The dark blue does stand out and give the shoe a lot of texture so it's more pleasing to the eyes. I definitely have to visit a NB outlet soon. Dope comparison and break down.
@@guynkicks upon further review I am really starting to like the 99x models. The 992s and the 993s are catching my eye. For some reason I'm not a fan of the huge "N." The smaller "N" and even the NB logo is just fine with me. I really like that faded look on the NB logo.
I just got the 993 half size down and found them good length wise but too narrow and am returning. Would you recommend the 990v5 half size down in wide?
Haha I had both. Someone stole my grey 990v5s. Been rocking the navy 993s for 2 years now. They have faded a lot in color from getting wet and actually look really cool.
993 def has more of that oldschool Skechers look or maybe it’s just that dark blue colorway u have in hand lol. I think the 990v5 is still much more an iconic and gorgeous versatile shoe even tho the 993 falls into the same category
I’ve been wearing the 993 for years, the 990v5 caused blisters on both of my feet. I thought about buying a pair of the 990v6 but one review said the top of the shoe caused excess rubbing near the toe box. I just ordered another pair of 993’s.
@@tgamble1000 How about the 990v3? I like the look but I'm thinking the tech is the same as any other 990 including the 990v5. The construction and materials are different on the 993 which may explain the higher price. End cap vs absorb. Blown rubber etc.
I would continue following the popular sneaker websites like footlocker, obviously New Balance. But checkout websites like Joe’s Outlet, Extra Butter, Packer Shoes, Nordstrom. The 992 is very hard to get right now. 😒
Hi i have a question regarding the 993 laces. Do you know how wide they are in mm. I threw mines because they were damaged and i have to replace them and the 993 laces are different so…. Thanks in advance
Good review, but 100% netiher of those are suitable for running. These are retro running shoes. They're running shoes in name only; just like Jordan 1s are basketball shoes in name only - people don't actually ball in them now. Shoe tech has come such a long way. The cheapest fresh foam new balance running shoe would be better for running than any of the 990s and 993. And any of the New Balance 1080 or 880 running shoes would be far better than the 900s for running. The 900s are strictly fashion, lifestyle, and comfort since they're still objectively high quality shoes built with comfortable materials.
Nice thing that 990v5 have half number up. Because no matter what you will need to put a extra insole in order to excel. Bad thing that a expensive sneaker have to be upgrade insole. Business practices suck
They run a little bit on the bigger side. It depends on how you like your shoes to fit. Whether you go with 11.5 or 12 you’ll be fine. The cool thing about these is that they do come in a standard or wide fit.
They run long and they run a tad narrow on the standard size. Note outer toe boxes. Sounds weird , but for me, a half size down with a wide width worked best. My TTS is a 12 standard width. In NB I'm a 11.5 wide.
Those were my favorite generation of that line of shoes. The 2040’s were decent but always loved the 2002 more. Unfortunately, they’re no longer being produced so you’ll have to get lucky and happen to find someone online that has your size. However, on newbalance.com they have the 2002R which has the same general aesthetic but only has gel cushioning in the heel instead of the whole midsole like the original 2002. New Balance has converted to mainly all foam midsoles on their current gen performance sneakers since it’s much lighter weight and a softer feel. But check out the 2002R!

I got the 993 in burgundy. There were a couple other colors during the summer which sold out quickly. Like Olive Black and Tan. Love the 992’s and 993

Love both shoes. The 993 is my daily shoe and the 990v5 is my workout shoe. I think the 993 is more comfortable imo

Yeah the 993 is awesome, a little bit of a sleeper. There are some 990s out there on sale, but the colorway may not be dope.

It’s hard to say, it really comes down to preference. But my favorite are v3, v4, v5, 992, 993, and 2002R. No particular order.
