Hearing Jim Henson singing as Kermit in "Rainbow Connection"... so touching. He doesn't have the best singing voice, but you can tell that Kermit singing is the closest thing we'll get to hearing Henson's soul speak. Not that I believe in souls, but the metaphor is just so fitting.
At his memorial, I love that the artists came together to sing 'It's Time for Saying Goodbye', a song which always makes me cry just thinking about it.
"I'm Going To Go Back There Someday," Gonzo's song from The Muppet Movie has always been one of my favorites. And let's not forget Kermit and Rowlf's duet, "I hope that something better comes along."
One of my favorite Muppets songs sure is "Saying Godd Bye" from "The Muppets Take Manhattan". It's a real downer in an otherwisely happy movie, but so heartfelt and greatly demonstrates the Muppets' ability to tug the heart strings along with the guitar strings.

The fact that there is two songs from the Muppets most wanted and not one from the Muppets take Manhattan pisses me off, there is no way in hell a song by tina fey is better than any of the songs from Muppets take Manhattan
I wish they had Gonzo's song from the Muppet Movie, it was beautiful and tearjerking, and it came from the most unlikely character in the series, the little blue weirdo; love ya Gonzo.

Growing up with green eyes in a family with blue eyes Bein’ Green really helped accept my eye color when I was little, I took the song very literally. I know it was only a tiny difference but it made me feel separated. Kermit and the muppets have made such a impact on my life and always brings me comfort in times of grief.
My all time favorite Muppet song was; Just One Person. It was sung during Jim Henson's Memorial service. A very moving moment was when all of the muppet performers got up on stage and sang the song.

Megumi Goose I must watch it again, I kinda erased it from my memory one reason being that kid. I might even have different opinion about him after all these years.
Yeah, that opening song was so dark and foreboding. It really captured the more grim reality of pirates. But yeah, you are completely right. The two movies they've done since the Disney buyout were nothing compared the the 6 prior and the songs were equally as under par. "I'm Going To Go Back There Someday" "Hope That Something Better Comes Along" "Hey! A Movie" "Steppin' Out With A Star" "Saying Goodbye" "I'm Gonna Always Love You" "One More Sleep Till Christmas" "Cabin Fever" Any of these should have placed before the songs from the later movies featured. Especially considering two of the ones on the list weren't even sung by muppets.
"Do you agree with our list?" No. How is "Saying Goodbye" not even an Honorable Mention?! This is literally the only Muppet song that chokes me up when I hear/see it. If Tina Fey's singing gulag song can make the list, then the saddest song from Muppets Take Manhattan should be on there, too. "Together Again" would have also been nice, but you have to choose your battles. In the words of Sam the Eagle, "You all are a bunch of WEIRDOS."

None of the music from Muppet Treasure Island is super memorable like the songs listed here. And speaking as a HUGE Muppets fan myself, the music from MTI also just doesn’t have the same sort of “Muppet magic feel” like most of these songs listed. Seriously, the most remembered song from MTI is “Love Led Us Here” sung by Kermit and Piggy. Not a fun song like “can you picture that” nor as heartfelt as “pictures in my head” or “Rainbow Connection.”

That was a good song, but they did mention the "Can You Picture That." What bothered me was that there were no top picks from The Muppets Take Manhatten. They should have included "Together Again." That song started the movie off with a bang. Very disappointed that they did not include this song. ☹

"Can't Take No For An Answer" from Muppets Take Manhattan is one of my favorites. The saxophone solo at the end by Zoot is why I picked the saxophone in 5th grade Band and still play it today :)
As a young child I had the Muppet Album which I played over and over. My favourite song from it was "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" which I still sing to myself. I'm so happy I was a kid when The Muppets was big first time round. It had a big impact on my childhood.

How is "Together Again" not included or even mentioned?? Also: for all you recent movie haters; Bret McKenzie has done a great job with the musical numbers in the past 2 movies. You must imagine that he was given a script to work with to compile songs... making them work the way he has is more than probably any single person in these comments can do. Plus, he actually knows how to play and compose music comparatively to most music that is "produced" nowadays.
Yeah, it is a shame that Muppet Treasure Island didn't make the list. It has some of their best (and funniest) songs in it. At least Muppet Christmas Carol got an honorable mention.
I genuinely love "Something So Right" and "The Interrogation Song" from Muppets Most Wanted. Something so Right is such a sad song about friendship and being unsure about marriage but the interrogation song is so smooth and when Sam and Pierre are doing their one on one chats it's very fun and just silly and overall just a great 2 songs

OMG--seriously?! How is "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday" (Gonzo/Muppet Movie) not here at all? I been a grown woman a while now, and i swear i crumple and bawl and sob like there's no tomorrow every time i hear or see that one... It's perhaps the single most 'human' song ever, and Gonzo has the sincerity to pull that off in a remarkably affect-free way, so it stays pure, like the wonder or the hurt or the hope of a child. Where are Just One Person, I’m Going to Go Back There Someday, Love Lead Us Here, Saying Goodbye and Bless Us All. They left out some of the best songs.

Definitely great song choices. I still love "moving right along" and "rainbow connection." "Rainbow connection" can still cause tears. I still think "I am going to go back there some day" from the muppet movie should have made the list. Gonzo sang it and it is still a major tear jerker.

The problem is that not enough people know the cartoons by name. It's especially true for Bugs cartoons. The titles are basically puns on the words rabbit or hare with little or nothing to do with the cartoon.
What about I'm Gonna Go Back There Someday? Gonzo sang that in the 1979 Muppet Movie. A very poignant song about wanting to find where you belong in the world.
One of my favourite Muppet songs is “Cabin Fever” from Muppet Treasure Island because it's so hilarious, catchy, and gives me cabin fever all the time!
I know it was disqualified from the list, but Jim’s version of “Just One Person” is a tearjerker, especially the version played at Jim’s funeral. “Saying Goodbye” and “I’m Going to Go Back There Someday” are two other beautiful Muppet songs.

Yeah this list didn't really feel like it was compiled by fans who have been following the Muppets all their life. More by the people who remembered the Muppets from the background of their youth. Like who the writers of "Disney's The Muppets" said they were huge fans, but after watching their movie it's pretty clear that they saw "The Muppet Movie" and the Jon Cleese episode of the Muppet Show. I'm Going to go back there someday is one of my favorite songs, not just favorite Muppet songs, but one of my favorite songs period.

Here comes a thought: "pictures in my head" in a way reflects the muppets over the years and why Kermit felt sad through that heart felt musical number. First they were all together making their debut with the muppets show (1976-1981) and then making the jump to the big screen, but after Jim Henson passed away their future seemed unknown. But with Brian Henson at the helm, he brought them all back again to the big screen once more for awhile then they sort of quietly left, where Kermit is reminiscing about how he misses the good times he had with all his friends. Kermit was all alone with only portraits of his friends as they all went their separate ways but still misses them.
Really surprised and honestly sort of shocked that I'm Going to Go Back There Someday isn't at least mentioned. That song is tied with Rainbow Connection in my mind, arguably my #1 favorite.

Hearing Jim Henson singing as Kermit in "Rainbow Connection"... so touching. He doesn't have the best singing voice, but you can tell that Kermit singing is the closest thing we'll get to hearing Henson's soul speak. Not that I believe in souls, but the metaphor is just so fitting.
I cry every time I hear pictures in my head or Rainbow Connection. Jim Henson died to soon.

One of my favorite Muppets songs sure is "Saying Godd Bye" from "The Muppets Take Manhattan". It's a real downer in an otherwisely happy movie, but so heartfelt and greatly demonstrates the Muppets' ability to tug the heart strings along with the guitar strings.

Growing up with green eyes in a family with blue eyes Bein’ Green really helped accept my eye color when I was little, I took the song very literally. I know it was only a tiny difference but it made me feel separated. Kermit and the muppets have made such a impact on my life and always brings me comfort in times of grief.
My all time favorite Muppet song was; Just One Person. It was sung during Jim Henson's Memorial service. A very moving moment was when all of the muppet performers got up on stage and sang the song.

No. How is "Saying Goodbye" not even an Honorable Mention?! This is literally the only Muppet song that chokes me up when I hear/see it. If Tina Fey's singing gulag song can make the list, then the saddest song from Muppets Take Manhattan should be on there, too. None of the music from Muppet Treasure Island is super memorable like the songs listed here. And speaking as a HUGE Muppets fan myself, the music from MTI also just doesn’t have the same sort of “Muppet magic feel” like most of these songs listed.
Seriously, the most remembered song from MTI is “Love Led Us Here” sung by Kermit and Piggy. Not a fun song like “can you picture that” nor as heartfelt as “pictures in my head” or “Rainbow Connection.”

"Can't Take No For An Answer" from Muppets Take Manhattan is one of my favorites. The saxophone solo at the end by Zoot is why I picked the saxophone in 5th grade Band and still play it today :)
As a young child I had the Muppet Album which I played over and over. My favourite song from it was "Lydia the Tattooed Lady" which I still sing to myself. I'm so happy I was a kid when The Muppets was big first time round. It had a big impact on my childhood.

How is "Together Again" not included or even mentioned?? Also: for all you recent movie haters; Bret McKenzie has done a great job with the musical numbers in the past 2 movies. You must imagine that he was given a script to work with to compile songs... making them work the way he has is more than probably any single person in these comments can do. Plus, he actually knows how to play and compose music comparatively to most music that is "produced" nowadays.

I genuinely love "Something So Right" and "The Interrogation Song" from Muppets Most Wanted. Something so Right is such a sad song about friendship and being unsure about marriage but the interrogation song is so smooth and when Sam and Pierre are doing their one on one chats it's very fun and just silly and overall just a great 2 songs

OMG--seriously?! How is "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday" (Gonzo/Muppet Movie) not here at all? I been a grown woman a while now, and i swear i crumple and bawl and sob like there's no tomorrow every time i hear or see that one... It's perhaps the single most 'human' song ever, and Gonzo has the sincerity to pull that off in a remarkably affect-free way, so it stays pure, like the wonder or the hurt or the hope of a child.

Definitely great song choices. I still love "moving right along" and "rainbow connection." "Rainbow connection" can still cause tears. I still think "I am going to go back there some day" from the muppet movie should have made the list. Gonzo sang it and it is still a major tear jerker.

The problem is that not enough people know the cartoons by name. It's especially true for Bugs cartoons. The titles are basically puns on the words rabbit or hare with little or nothing to do with the cartoon.
What about I'm Gonna Go Back There Someday? Gonzo sang that in the 1979 Muppet Movie. A very poignant song about wanting to find where you belong in the world.

One of my favourite Muppet songs is “Cabin Fever” from Muppet Treasure Island because it's so hilarious, catchy, and gives me cabin fever all the time!
I know it was disqualified from the list, but Jim’s version of “Just One Person” is a tearjerker, especially the version played at Jim’s funeral. “Saying Goodbye” and “I’m Going to Go Back There Someday” are two other beautiful Muppet songs.

I'm surprised that Life's A Happy Song wasn't on here. I absolutely adore that song, and it's so clever all the way through.
Here comes a thought: "pictures in my head" in a way reflects the muppets over the years and why Kermit felt sad through that heart felt musical number. First they were all together making their debut with the muppets show (1976-1981) and then making the jump to the big screen, but after Jim Henson passed away their future seemed unknown. But with Brian Henson at the helm, he brought them all back again to the big screen once more for awhile then they sort of quietly left, where Kermit is reminiscing about how he misses the good times he had with all his friends. Kermit was all alone with only portraits of his friends as they all went their separate ways but still misses them.
