I'd just like to touch it! David probably the best guitar player that's ever bent a string! Everytime he plays a song it's a special experience, never heard a song played the same twice!
Mostly agree 🙂 except when I specifically think of string-bending masters, Eric Clapton is foremost in my mind.. he did, after all, gain his "Slowhand" moniker due to this specific aspect of his playing style and was well-known for often bending strings (both in-studio and live) to the point of failure.. I *am* a much bigger Gilmour fan than I ever was a Clapton fan, for the record, but.. "The White Room" by Cream? oof! lol
@@jjchap3159 hard to compare those 2.Gilmore can play blues and has played often with Clapton and BB! But he really didn't have a blues background, Clapton I thought was at his best in cream and playing harder songs. Both are comfortable singing. Both have incomparable knowledge of tones, cords and anything strat. David plays more instruments, steel guitar he has no peers. And is better with a mandolin than Page or anyone I've heard that plays bluegrass. It boils down to David is just smooth! He's not fast or slow, just smooth! Lmao it just comes down to ones preference. David's music can bring tears and for me Clapton's doesn't!
@@jjchap3159 I was trying to make you feel good about being a dumbass! Clapton isn't even in Mark knoffler's class! Clapton can play 3cord blues and some power cords thats about it. He's done better writing and singing than playing. And you can't come up but with one song!
I never felt there was any correlation between Shine On and Zeppelin’s Since I’ve Been Loving You, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hear it at the beginning of this video.
My favorite solo has to be in "The Fletcher McCarthy Memorial". Just an amazing song with an emotional guitar solo that just melts you down. Love David Gilmour and his unique and amazing style of playing.
Thank God!! For Pink Floyd!!! What a tremendous and talented band!!! Couldn't imagine not having the Floyd in my life as a teenager in the seventies!!!
I like this one but my favorite Gilmour guitar is the red strat with EMGs from the pulse era. The opening solo to shine on from that concert just drips out of that guitar. It's sublime 🎸

Between David and Eric Clapton I have been in love with the fender Stratocaster since my first one in the early eighties and I have a lot in between including most foreign made ones that have really stepped up their game after being crap guitars for a long while and I’ve owned several American ones that are great but they’re a little pricey compared to the others that play and sound as good
After playing cheap strats for most of my life I actually kind of prefer them to their more expensive brethren. A really nice one just doesn't feel right to me. For me the best ones are the indo made ones that are slightly smaller than the "real" ones. Put some decent pickups in and a set of gotoh locking tuners, that lets you get rid of the string trees because the gotohs set down much lower than standard tuners. Some require more tinkering than others as far as the nut and setup etc. But I can make a great strat out of them that sounds and plays great and will stay in tune better than some that cost much more.
Nit true david states each guitar he plays he gets a feel for and that's how the songs come to him yes he plays it but it's the feeling of holding that specific instrument which fueled his feel to write the song
@@HardRockMiner ummmm if you didn't know already, you're not required to watch CNN. You can watch any news channel you choose. I don't understand why you would bring that up commenting on David Gilmour and his guitar. You know he's from England right?

I love David's music and contributions. BUT the guitar in the beginning and at the end is not the same. When the black and white photos show a young David Gilmour.playing a black strat with a Rosewood neck. The others show a maple neck black strat.
He bought it with a maple neck. He switched it back and forth probably a dozen times. A lot of that sound is just David, and dialling in a tone… This guitar has had necks broken, it has had big chunks of wood hacked out of the body and filled in with putty. You buy any decent Stratocaster and just use it as a workhorse. 👍
I really like his style, no shredding million miles an hour mindless stuff - just melodic beautiful guitar playing.

Amazing
The 'Black Strat' is one of the most iconic guitars in rock.
BB King and D.Gilmour best smooth benders ever!
When everyone else is shredding their fingers until they bleed, Gilmour plays one note slowly at a time and really makes it count
