Yes, pattern block please!!! My goal for this year is to make my own and I'm so close but I'm still not happy with it. I would love to see how you make yours 💜💜
You probably know about it, but Rachel's look was inspired by Joan Crawford. Strong shoulders and sleek skirts. The first thing that came to my mind when you showed the suit from Blade runner was Adrian and then you mentioned him. I love Adrian, love the iconic 40s shouldered look he basically invented for Crawford and love everything color block, so I'm looking so much forward to it. And I feel you about trouser patterns. I'd like to help you, but it took me about a year (no kidding!) and many mock ups, some even wearable, to achieve the perfect fit on my self drafted pattern. Now I'm really happy about it and make them in every color and love them! Mine are 40s style, with high waist and deep pleats, but narrower legs since wider legs look kinda weird for me, and for men in general, in my opinion. Here in Brazil we don't have defined seasons, it's basically summer all year around, so I always make them out of linen and they look great. Let's hope you can find a good pattern! Mine usually look great fit just people, but when I did it for myself there was a lot to adjust and fix... but my mom (my fitting partner) says it's because I'm too perfectionist. I'm sorry about the long comment, I usually try to edit them down but couldn't control myself today! 😆 I'm excited to see all your projects!
Thank you Leonardo! I love Adrian too, such expect tailoring and beautiful work! I'd love some wide legged linen trousers for summer here, so hopefully I can wrangle together a pattern I like enough to use again and again too :)
Going back to previous communications about viewers saying you speak too fast. I had commented that they listen too slow. As a former tv producer and news anchor, the term for your speech pattern and speed is MACHINE GUN SPEECH....... Adorable. Don't change. It's part of your charm and charisma. You go girl.
Yes trousers! I've spent months mostly ignoring and partially adjusting a pair of wide legged cotton trousers down to my size at the waist whilst trying to keep a full leg. Very excited to see some made from scratch
The Evelyn trousers from sugardale are such a lovely 1940s style trouser! They're a small indie brand and such a great aesthetic to them. They have a really beautiful interesting pocket/fastening detail to the trousers too.
Yes, you will absolutely have meetings with the big wigs in your life! So yes, dress for the job you want! I got a few looks at Home Depot the other day.....I want Wonder Woman's job, so........ya.
Hi Bianca Looking forward to your Fall/Winter makes. I'm glad you're getting your sewing projects accomplished. Your spirits are definitely up. I remember you feeling down about not getting them done like you wanted.
Back in 1970 I sewed a flat corduroy purple suit trimmed with a brocade ribbon trim. The slacks were huge bell bottoms, the jacket was a long tunic style, and I made a matching floppy rimmed hat to match. Janet Joplin was popular and I was copying an outfit I had seen on her. With this outfit I would wear platform shoes or my white knee high patent leather go go boots.
I'm excited for your projects, especially the 1920's one. It's nice to see a more wearable dress, not that I don't love a good Flapper dress, something I could wear to a tea party.
Trousers seem intimidating, but are easier than most people think. The front fly zipper is the hardest part to get right, but using a side or back zipper, or even better, elastic, makes the process a lot easier.
i've heard lovely things about Scroop Patterns Eastbourne trousers! And just Scroop Patterns in general. also i would literally watch you narrate paint drying, and i'm sure other people would too, so I think we can handle you sewing from a purchased pattern lmao
I'm so excited!! You have no idea!! 😄 I love watching you draft and construct things, but I'm excited to see you work with an exsisting pattern for the first time on this channel!! 👖 For trousers I really like the Simplicity 8447 pattern. It comes with overalls, trousers, and 2 top variation patterns. So far I've personally only used the trousers pattern, but I really enjoyed it. They have a multi-button side closure, which is very flattering across the mid-section, and also really cute. And not only did they fit perfectly without any alterations, which for my tall pear shaped body is practically unheard of, but they were also a fun and quick easy make. I plan on making them in several different fabrics so I can wear them year-round and for any occasion.
i loved the summer sewing series so I am really looking forward to the autumn version! especially trousers would be awesome :) as i struggle a lot with those due to my height...
Yes please on the block and the one hour dress. I'm learning to sew at the moment and inexpensive/simple dresses and blocks are perfect for where I'm at right now :)
Ah...trousers. Always so much fun, to fit by yourself 😆 I‘ve always been partial to wide legged trousers, though. I‘m probably the only person I know, who prefers straight legged or even wide legged pants to skinny ones.
Omg you are Godsend. I was thinking about making a 40’s pair of trousers. Which would be my first trousers (first I sew) and here you are talking about a tutorial. I hope someday you will guide us in the making of our own pattern (living in Argentina, buying a pattern online can be extremely expensive. Not always, but most times). Thanks for everything in this channel. I love your clothes, your style, your makeup and hairstyle... even your fast way of talking.
1940s repro trouser pattern suggestion: Simplicity 8243 :) (i personally made this in the pumpkin orange herringbone plaiditudes from JoAnn fabrics and really adore them, only thing i would have corrected was the rise by about 2 inches... altogether will be making it again though)
@@TheClosetHistorian I really really love it, it's extra soft.. i have a buttonback shirt in the works with another from that line (it's a dark green/white/pumpkin plaid but the oranges are a dead ringer for each other), i'd only be a crazy fun vintage hat away from awesome weirdo status :)
Your makeup looks beautiful in this video. I love the reds in your dress picked up on your lips and eyes. My favorite look so far!! You do not look like a ghost. You look gorgeous!
I'm finding your sewing videos very inspiring and I'm sure I will find them equally helpful as soon as I finally get a sewing machine (maybe Christmas 🤞)
Angela Clayton has another of my favourite RUclips channels, she had a series called 'Sewing through the Decades', she sewed a lovely pair of trousers using a McCalls Vintage pattern printed in 1942 it is pattern no. 4803. So glad you are also going to be making one of the 1920's one-hour dresses, have been hunting for a tutorial on this dress, wanted to see it being made before I tried it for myself. Love your channel and your content. xx
I just finished making Simplicity 3688 trousers out of tencel twill from Style Maker Fabrics. I'm fairly happy with how they turned out... The fabric is really drapey and wrinkle-prone I came to realize after I started making them, so not ideal! I would love suggestions on trouble-shooting fit issues in your trouser making video! Give me a dress/skirt/blouse any day and I can make it fit like a glove, but trousers 😖
Decades of style patterns 1940’s empire waist trousers. Made them, love them. I have some gorgeous gaberdine to make my next pairs :) I should do that...
You've already got your Halloween stuff in the background........Love it ! I think you should do whatever projects make you happy (or sew whatever clothing you want/need the most). Your videos are always interesting so just go wherever your creative impulses take you.
I'm so excited for the Blade Runner dress!! And the pencil skirt blazer set sounds amazing! I don't think I told you that I'm now making my very first sewing project and it's a 1940s blouse - inspired by you! My friend, who is also into vintage is teaching me on her 1960s industrial sewing machine. It's been very exciting!!
Thank you Paz! Awesome that you are learning to sew! It is super rewarding, and great too you have a friend to teach you and help out at the start here, I think it's much easier to learn that way
Your projects sound fascinating! Particularly the Black Sateen. You and Bernadette Banner have inspired me to sew more, and as a consequence I have upcycled two of my coats in the past month, so thank you for the motivation! Your videos make my Victorian Gothic vintage heart very happy. 😊🥰
Simplicity 8447, made up in other fabrics besides denim work really well, but definitely shorten them if you aren't cuffing them. They do make up quite long.
I am looking forward to the 20's dress very much thank you! 20's and 30's are my main interest. I am currently making a linen jacket inspired by 20's shapes - it's not a brilliant piece of tailoring but at least I have conquered by fear of sleeves! best wishes from a rainy London
I'm in the middle of making the trousers from Vogue V9351. I have added pockets with button detail (ala sailor or fallfront). I have the fronts finished. I am also moving the zipper to left hip, added length for cuffs and fully lining the butter soft navy ultrasuede I found to make them from.
I look forward to seeing your new sewing projects. I very much appreciate the ones where you modify patterns. I feel like I am learning so much! I would be especially interested in a tutorial on a sloper. Thanks again for the great content.
Everything for this fall sounds amazing, I'm hugely looking forward to the next season of vids, especially... well, everything. And Project 83! You tease! YESSSS!

Thank you Erica! The eye make up here is mostly achieved with a little red shadow smudged along the lower lash line, a tap on the outer v of the lid, and the red gel liner eyeliner from colourpop!
Yayyy!!!! So glad you took my suggestion of making another 1940s dress like the white one you already have! That is such a gorgeous fit, can’t wait to see that video! :D
I would argue that the clock for a "one hour dress" would begin after everything is gathered and the pattern is constructed/tailored and the fabric is "patterned" and cut out. As such, the "one hour" only entails the sewing...
I was just thinking of you my dear. Have you checked out the Chloe Resort 2020 collection? The show opens with utter travesty, heaven save us from tap pants! Never fear, I think you will find some of the rich pageantry you so adore, and some plain ole sewing inspiration.
Bianca you look magnetically fascinatingly glamorous! That red eyeliner is fab on you! I so look forward to any one of your sewing videos and so wish I could sew along but am not there yet, would need to prepare a space and get back into it....that is a goal though. All your projects are so inspiring! so not know of any pattern, I like the look of those sailor pants with the buttons on both sides coming down diagonally as a style. But also more dressy high-waisted wide leg ones that probably had the darts in them...
So far I've made two pair of wide leg 40s trousers from the Simplicity "Rosie the riveter" pattern; I've done some style modifications but I'm pleased with the base pattern.
So excited for the one-hour dress tutorial!!! I've been curious what your whole process looks like ever since I saw the pattern on your blog. It's sort of become my bread-n- butter, go-to pattern for quick, easy dresses that I can just throw on.
@@TheClosetHistorian I have to say that every time I've had any contact with Lauren she has been truly lovely. I would also add that the lower crotch on pre 50's trousers make life so much easier when it comes to fit as well as comfort.
Hi, I'm looking forward to the fall season with you. I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but your ear rings and the carriage light in the background resonates really well. Yours, Ann
I'm so excited for the one hour dress! I'm throwing a 1920s themed new years party this year, and I've been officially planning to make my own dress since i saw your instructions on the blog!
@@TheClosetHistorian I look forward to it! And I wanted to say thank you so much, because you really inspired me to work on my aesthetic. Though I don't think I'll quite go vintage, I'm paying much more attention to my clothes and accessorizing, which I love. I even got some awesome brooches!
I can't stand it! I love your eye makeup. These are wearable everyday looks. The blouse looks like you made it. Kudos. Move videos (I'm chanting) have a great weekend. Can't hardly wait to see what you come up with. Love the burn out material. Ok ciao
Sounds like a great lineup! I'm looking forward to following along on all of your sewing plans, including "Project 83". You are a sewing Jedi. ;-) As far as '40s pants go, I made the ones from Simplicity 8243 last spring and they turned out surprisingly well right out of the envelope - and I ALWAYS have to make alterations to pant patterns.
I was thinking of trying the one-hour 1920s dress, so I'm looking forward to seeing your video of that most. Also very interested in seeing the process for making a bodice block to see if this is something I want to do eventually. BTW your makeup looks amazing!
You have inspired me to learn to do more than mending on my sewing machine. Looking forwarded to your projects. Would love to see how to 1. Make the shirt template 2. How to adjust for plus sized figures. Thank you. Blessings
Thank you Laura! I'm sorry to say I don't know much about sizing and fitting, they didn't teach us in fashion school sadly-- since everything was focused on creating things for tiny dress forms :( So mostly I just know how to fit things on myself! I need to take more classes someday!
I love the plans you have set up. Bianca, I absolutely LOVE this look on you! (Of course I do!) This is so elegant vintage vampire and tis spoopy season after all! ^_^ Keep the good ole fantastic content a'comin'!
Can't wait to see these vids! I'm going to be trying to make a 1940s 'Jean' sailor pant. It will be only my second pair of pants so 😳 but I can't wait to watch yours first now :)
2:22 hour dress 👗 I’m so glad you said 3-4 oh my goddess I’m glad you said it’s alright if it takes a week. That’s encouraging. I need support. The last dress was advertised as easy! It’s was evil 👿 Halloween 👻 print that I didn’t want to messs up. 🎃 I called the company and the lady was not friendly or “support” in anyway. Avoid the vogue easy 2663 vintage.
Thank you but I do fear I won't have time! Really it is just red shadow smudged on the lower lash line and the red gel liner from colourpop on the waterline that make it pop!
So i slowed the video right down to see what the little teaser picture as! As a fan of said 'secret' myself, i can't wait to see what you come up with :o)

I would also add that the lower crotch on pre 50's trousers make life so much easier when it comes to fit as well as comfort.
Hi, I'm looking forward to the fall season with you. I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but your ear rings and the carriage light in the background resonates really well. Yours, Ann
Thank you Ann! I just love lanterns, I can't get enough of them ;)
First. Gorgeous makeup. Second, I am so excited for these projects!
Thank you Anna!
I NEED that lipstick in my life!!!!!
Colourpop liquid matte in the shade Rooch! :)
So excited for the 3pc and the trousers!
Yippee, looking forward to them all. Thank you Bianca!
Thank you Johanne!
I'm so excited for the one hour dress! I'm throwing a 1920s themed new years party this year, and I've been officially planning to make my own dress since i saw your instructions on the blog!
Coming very soon!
Exciting! I made a one hour dress (for Miss Fisher Con) based on your blog instructions, the tutorial was indispensable.
Thank you so much!
This line up sound perfect to me! I am really looking forward to seeing these.
Thank you Jenny!
So excited to see these ideas come to life! I have a couple of favorites!
Thank you Raquel!
I can't stand it! I love your eye makeup. These are wearable everyday looks. The blouse looks like you made it. Kudos. Move videos (I'm chanting) have a great weekend. Can't hardly wait to see what you come up with. Love the burn out material. Ok ciao
Thank you! I made the blouse many years ago but it remains a favorite
It should read More not move
Not to worry about sewing without us as long as you model your finished fashion--deal?
Sounds like a great lineup! I'm looking forward to following along on all of your sewing plans, including "Project 83". You are a sewing Jedi. ;-) As far as '40s pants go, I made the ones from Simplicity 8243 last spring and they turned out surprisingly well right out of the envelope - and I ALWAYS have to make alterations to pant patterns.
Thank you! I'll look into the Simplicity pattern! Hopefully the force will be with me here in the sewing room ;)
I was thinking of trying the one-hour 1920s dress, so I'm looking forward to seeing your video of that most. Also very interested in seeing the process for making a bodice block to see if this is something I want to do eventually. BTW your makeup looks amazing!
Thank you Cyndy!
Can't wait to see these videos, especially the pattern block!
Thank you Elina!
Not the topic of this video and usually not my point of focus, but wow, your eye makeup in this one is so stunning. I can't take my eyes of it! :)
Thank you!
Love this gothy look! Can't wait for the new sewing videos :)
Thank you Elizabeth!
Thank you for answering. Hopefully I can follow along enough to fit to myself too. So far my skirts are working out ok blessing
Looking forward to seeing your makes ☺️
Thank you!
Can't wait to see your new projects, I'll be wacthing.and picking up iedas as you go.///Love the other things you've made.
Thank you!
Omg I’m so excited for your next projects!!! I so want to make the second one!!!!
Thank you Charese!
Fantastic plans, specially that skirt! Cannot wait! Christine
Thank you Christine!
I love the plans you have set up. Bianca, I absolutely LOVE this look on you! (Of course I do!) This is so elegant vintage vampire and tis spoopy season after all! ^_^ Keep the good ole fantastic content a'comin'!
Thank you!
@@TheClosetHistorian Meeeeeee tooo!
I’m excited for all your makes. Thank you.
Thank you Estelle!
Can't wait to see these vids! I'm going to be trying to make a 1940s 'Jean' sailor pant. It will be only my second pair of pants so 😳 but I can't wait to watch yours first now :)
Thank you!
I can't wait to see all the videos for these!! 💙
Thank you Josie!
I love this makeup ❤️❤️ could you pretty please do a makeup tutorial on how to do it
Thank you but I do fear I won't have time! Really it is just red shadow smudged on the lower lash line and the red gel liner from colourpop on the waterline that make it pop!
So i slowed the video right down to see what the little teaser picture as! As a fan of said 'secret' myself, i can't wait to see what you come up with :o)
See a teaser, you did not ;)
Ooo, a 1 hour 20’s dress sounds simply ‘roaring’ doll!🧵Reminds me of a tv series I used to watch in the 80’s called ‘ The House Of Elliott’...You should check it out doll, if you like great period sagas!😍Xx
Thanks Jo! I still haven't seen it, not sure the best place to stream it/watch it these days!
