"I drew on my eyebrows for this" is a mood
Today's equivalent of "I shaved my legs for this"
I absolutely love watching your make vlogs Angela, and the dresses turned out so cute! Also thanks for so casually including your trip to the psychiatrist. It's awesome to hear people just openly talk about and mention these things :)
These are gorgeous! The 30s aren’t usually my favorite decade but these are adorable. The white one makes me think of a vintage nurse in the best way. You would look a picture next to a wounded soldier, tending his physical ailments while stealing his heart. But, alas, there’s a bolt of fabric in the next room that already has your heart.
Haha, thank you! I totally embraced the nurse theme by the end of it - I think the shoes I wore with it were reproduction nursing shoes from the 40s lol!
Savannah Williams
Now that’s a movie, I would watch...😄
I thought the same thing about the white dress lol
Hi Angela,
Please don't get annoyed with us for asking about the "Robe a la Francaise". We're like kids in the back seat ...........Are we there yet? Are we there yet? ..........Oh the anticipation
Also, I would enjoy a vintage clothes haul.
Glad you know that you don't need to be in a relationship to celebrate love (or cute Valentine's day fabrics!)
@my CBD life Flowers of any kind are always a gorgeous gift :-)
my CBD life in colombia, valentine's day is not a thing we celebrate, but we have an equivalent in september we call "the day of love and friendship", and it is a day for couples to celebrate (like valentines), but you also play a sort of secret santa with your friends, give you chcolate to friends and family, and so on. I think it's a "wider" version than valentines day, and they encourage you to celebrate the people you love in your life, no matter the relationship (family, friends, significant other)
Gingher makes excellent quality pinking shears (and scissors). They cut like butter! I've had mine for over 40 years! Joanne's carries them and you can use a coupon to buy them.
seconded! i love my ginghers.
FYI, I just Googled them and they are half the price at Walmart. 💕
agreed I love my ginghers!
@@imajapgerm The real mvp!
While I enjoy your soothing voice as I lay in bed falling asleep to it, I enjoy it much more when you talk more about the actual project than spending 20 minutes chatting about everything else other than the construction of the beautiful vintage dresses.
Definitely keen for the vintage haul/styling video!
When you card all your lace you should think about making yourself a lace book with a small clipping of all of your laces that you can easily look at and reference back to. You could also note how much you have to help you determine if you have enough for your desired project
Eeyore_Chick I really like this idea! I also think it’d be a great video!
What a great idea!
YOU ARE ALL OF OUR SWEETHEART THIS VALENTINE'S DAY ANGELA!
Beautiful , i really like lapped seams. Yes, yes, yes to a vintage clothing haul!
I vote for the pink one. Would love to see a vintage haul/style. And would love to see your lace collection and watch you organise it. Before and after views - so satisfying.
This video reminded me of a Valentine's dress my mother made for me in, I guess 1969, I was 3. It was a sort of tent style. It was pink, fine waled corduroy, with dark red heart shaped pockets. It was very cute! Thanks for giving me a great memory!
(LOL, I also had bubble jumpsuits/playsuits, I liked them!)
It makes me so incredibly happy to see a video from you in my subscription notices!
i loved this video! the dresses are truly beautiful!
btw as a 19 year old who is anxious about driving and doesn't have her license, hearing that someone a little older than me is just getting comfortable with driving is very nice to hear and encouraging.
Golly, I need to take notes if I want to remember all my thoughts! I will say what I can remember...
Who cares if you have a beau on Valentine's Day? You doll up and be fabulous in spite of that because, my dear, you ARE fabulous! Don't stop doing what you love simply because you will do it alone. And look at you. You drove for a really long time and that is 100% more driving by yourself than you did last year at this time! That is awesome!
Sewing videos, patterning videos, antiquing vlogs, silent videos, vintage cooking videos, clothes hauls, estate sale hauls, girl. You do whatever you want because that is your brand. This isn't the Angela Only Sews channel. I eagerly await each new video because I want to see you. I love your quirky way of seeing the world. I love the way that you are willing to stand out from the crowd because you are the only person who woke up and decided that "today is a good day to wear vintage." You make me wish that I had someone like you to hang with when I was in highschool and was wearing my mom's vintage 60s dresses. That was frowned upon in the 80s. You are a treasure and never let your insecurities convince you otherwise.
I love both dresses equally. I adore the little additions of ribbons and rickrack and eyelet lace. You remind me of pictures of my grandmother from the late 30s. You have excellent taste in fabrics.
As for a video about untangling rickrack, yes, please! If I were a neighbor, I would help. What a shame that it was in that condition. Thank goodness that you rescued it! When you eventually have time to organize the laces, do share. Some of us could use the inspiration. Laces, buttons, and zippers are things I just can't find a good way to organize.
Last of all, good for you. You took a little time to make something special, despite deadlines. While you can't always do that, doing it occasionally is good for your mental health. It makes you feel happy and that in turn gives you a boost as you return to your deadline project. I look forward to your next video, whatever it will be.
i'm so proud of you and your driving accomplishments!! it's so freeing to be able to drive yourself somewhere :)
Pinking Shear's can be sharpened , even at home.
But ...
You need to look at the open shears to find the lap line. A lap line is made out of a different kind of metal than the main part of shears. The lap line will have a slightly different color of metal as a cutting surface on the majority of good-quality pair of pinking shears.
If you look at the shears from the side: there should be a shiny metal on the bottom side, a distinct line, and a darker matte grey metal on the cutting surface.
But if this is not there, the shears need to be replaced. They are completely worn out, there's nothing left for you to sharpen.
You can sharpen them yourself or send them out.
FYI: My grandmother was a seamstress, upholsterer her whole long life, using pinking shears regularly.
She always sent them out to be sharpened!
Even though her and grandfather were very handy, capable and penny pinchers.
PS.
I just realized
I still have her pinking shears
They are, for me a beautiful memory.
( She died 2004 at 86 years old. I always think of her when I watch these lovely videos. Thank you so much for the memories)
I really love these chatty sewing vlogs! Keep them coominnnggg :)
Also: me and my sewing tutor have weekly excited conversations about your videos. The quality of that conversation level mimicks that of 2 10-year old fan girls ("did you see the one where she lines up the fabric so well???" "omggggg!"). It's so cool to learn that you and your channel is really known in this world, even here in Europe, and that you've made such a good name for yourself here! Know that we support what you're doing, and wish you well! :)
Both of these dresses are just too cute. If I was forced to choose it would be the red only because red is one of my favorite colors. Great job Angela.
I just want to be your friend. I swear you’re like the sweetest sounding person alive
Both dresses are adorable. I couldn't chose a favorite! Please do entertain us with your vintage haul please!
I also love your blouse, hat, hair and make-up you are wearing in this vid as well! :)
Oh wow 😮! This is totally fab and completely Brillo. Your dresses are darling and delightful. So love the fact that you celebrate valentines in your own individual way. Congrats gorgeous gal, you are a total inspiration and a complete delight. Honestly I review your past videos, because they put a smile 😊 on my dial and I get ideas when I listen to you chat beautifully. Thank you lovely 🥰🙏🏻
Love both dresses but I adore one you are wearing in the video even more! Vintage clothing haul? Yes, please! Also, it never occufred to me to cut the patten pieces with pinking shears. I thought that was after all the sewing...Yay for learning something new.
I just watch your videos in total awe! I can’t get over that someone who is a similar age to me can produce such wonderful garments - you’re totally inspiring!!!
Both dresses are adorable, the white one gives me nurse vibes :)
i love all your content. if you have clothing, antiquing, notions, fabric hauls, i will watch them. i will like them. there is something so great about sharing the creative process, and other things that interest us have an effect on that process.
I love the three rows of Rick rack around the hem of the white Dress! That’s so vintage looking. Both dresses are great. I hope you enjoy wearing them.
Omg these are so cute!! The white one makes you look like a candy striper, but in the best possible way 🥰
The dresses are both so cute! I would like to see your vintage haul.
oh and yes PLEAAAAAAASE show us all your pretty vintage dresses! would love to see a haul /style video ! :)
I just love both dresses! Yes, they are cutesy, but . . . what can I say, I LOVE them!
Congrats on getting out on your longest drive so far!! Good on you for pushing at (and past) limitations.
Fun video, these dresses turned out delightful! Congratulations on your solo driving milestones; honestly I think that everyone has apprehensions when they first start driving but some people hide it well or ignore it . Thank you for being open about your psychiatrist visit, subtle things like that help to destigmatize mental illness
I love how nurse like the white one is
I was thinking the same thing. It just needs a retro nursing cap.
My thoughts exactly. I almost expected her to have a clipboard and pocket full of candy
That's funny because I'm making a very similar dress at the moment, to wear to work (I'm a nurse).
Both dresses are really cute! I think I prefer the pink heart ditsy for day-to-day wear and the white heart applique for special events/dolled up times. The fit and cut are really nice which helps to bring out the craftsmanship - your seams are also so lovely.
I'm always amazed at your creations. I think both dresses are super cute and I like both of them, but I think I really like the pink one more, although the white one reminded me of a nurse I used to work with while I was in college. She never wore scrubs like the other nurses. She was "older" so she was a firm believer in the nurses caps and white nursing outfits with the white stockings and shoes. She was hard to work with, but man I respected the heck out of her. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I think they're both cute but the heart fabric dress is my favorite. I would totally wear that one.
I love the pink one! The shape is so classic and suits you so well! It actually reminds me of a 1949 pattern I used which has a similar shaped deep collar and a very slightly flared skirt. You seem to have a similar body shape to mine... broad shoulders and wide hips. 1930s/40s are very flattering because they fit nicely at the shoulders, accentuate the natural waist and skim over the hips (well that's my view on it anyway). Lovely dresses Angela!!! 💕
The white one reminds me of nurse uniforms. I love it in the pink
oh the dresses turned out so well angela! u love them. also, am i the only one that thinks that a lace organising video would be great to watch?
Would love to see a vintage haul and styling video! And I love both your new dresses, the white one makes me think of a cross between Alice in Wonderland and a vintage nurse. The heart fabric one is my favorite I think, the open collar is so pretty!
Yes to vintage clothing haul!!!! :)
My mum kept her pinking shears sharp by cutting through several layers of aluminum foil. She used them for 50 years and never had them professionally sharpened.
Yes, please do a vintage clothing haul and styling video!
You did well to finish the dresses before untangling the ric rac. For me, to look at that tangle is to want to fix it. Love the dresses - very authentic as well.
I would LOVE to see your wardrobe! A lookbook would be amazing!
Very nice dresses! I will say that the white one reminds me more of a nurse outfit than Valentines.
You remind me so much of Holliday Grainger in her role as Bonnie Parker with the dress style and how much you look like her! Stunning!
Hi Angela! I'm a new subscriber from Australia and I just love your videos! I'm currently learning to sew (baby steps, blouses and circle skirts etc), and I play your videos whilst I work! Your creations are darling and you're so very talented! And I'm very jealous of your estate sale hauls and your antique and fabric trips you take with your mum, there isn't much of that here in Aus. Hope you have a great day!
YES PLEASE! DO A CLOTHING AND FASHION HAUL!
I wish I had even the smallest ounce of skill to do this. Those have to be the cutest dresses ever!
Reilly Groder don’t cut yourself short! Angela wasn’t born with a sewing machine in her hands, it’s a skill that has to be practiced to perfection or at leas close to perfection.
Modern patterns are not too difficult to read and their are lots of videos available here about how to read a pattern. It’s really not too hard. Start with simple projects and work your way towards fancier stuff! Hell Angela has inspired me enough to pick up some patterns and start sewing. Before I found her channel my sewing machine only saw the light of day when I needed to fix something. Now I’m up a couple of shirts and about to remake another that turned out to be too small. I will be upsizing the pattern and making a go at it tonight/tomorrow!
You never know what your capable of until you put yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new!
Those came out very cute, I couldn't wear the pink one because I have very yellow toned skin and warm colors like pink and red and orange and yellow just reflect very poorly on my skin tone, but I love the white one and can definitely see myself wearing it! And I would LOVE to see a vintage clothing haul! Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!
What can I say...two sweet dresses that look great on you!!
Angela, you did such beautiful work on these two dresses. And, too boot, you look ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS ! Oh, how I want to make them myself and for my daughter. Great job as ever. 😊
So cute, both of them. Love the white one, but think the pink is more wearable. Also, love the intro dress - stunning!! Hairstyle and makeup are perfect, as usual! You are just so pretty. 👗👒👠
Please do the vintage clothing haul or styling video!! I’d love to see what you get 💗
miss angela is just adorable and extremely talented
They were both adorable but I really really like the white one
I like the pockets on the red dress. Very cute. I like both dresses.
Yes to the vintage haul, please!
My mom taught me to use large metal washers as pattern weights. If you need more flat weights and are on a budget those are a great option.
The pockets on the pink dress ❤️👗 so cute! Both dress are adorable 😍💝
I love both of the dresses you made...super cute. If I have to pick a favorite, it would be the pink one. And yes...do post a haul post of your vintage clothing finds...I would love to see what you bought. And one more thing....I love the red and white polka dot dress you're wearing too!
Hi Angela I live in New Orleans Louisiana and I watch your show. Kai pinking shears. Kai Scissors are the absolute best
I would love a vintage clothing haul!
Yes!!! Vintage clothing haul!!!
Little Cupid 💘 likes them both!💕
Beautiful dresses, love the material.....absolutely love the pink dress, so stunning but the white one looked so nice on you....
Yes please clothing haul!!!
these dresses are so flippin cute!!! the white one gives me cutesy medical/nurse vibes (probably the white and red) and that is such a good aesthetic. And the bows and heart buttons on the pink one make me so happy! u did a fantastic job on these
having a lot of fabric that you love and still buying more every time you make something is so relatable lol.
you in the pink dress is giving me life!
I love both dresses, but love the pink one more.
The pink one is so lovely. Beautiful Angela, both are gorgeous, but my favourite is the pink/red
And of course, I wear them .
Both of the dresses are adorable!! It’s difficult to choose between them but probably the white dress would be my favorite. I would love to see your vintage wardrobe!!
They came out very nice. I really like the decorative elements you added to them.
I first hit the like button and then watch the whole thing bc I love all of her videos anyway
Beautiful dresses. I like the pink dress with small hearts. 💞
I love them both!!! The white one is to die for though 🙃 you are such a doll and a gem
I like the pink dress the best.
The dresses are super adorable! I'm a sucker for gathered sleeves and you nailed them!
This is a darling dress. Thanks, Angela.
My favourite is the white one. Very cute dresses.
Major nurse vibes from the white one. In a fabulous way.
Hi Angela admire your work and for your interest in the history dump your clothes with absolute detail and especially your appreciation for architecture (saw on a video you visited a museum). Greetings
When you mentioned the price of the button, I thought I should tell you about trying to buy them on Aliexpress, we have ridiculously overprized sewing supplies where I am from and after studying fashion design for 4 years I needed to find cheeper versions and then I fouond out that a lot of the shops where I was buying laces, ribbons and buttons were ordering them from Ali. Now I get my buttons and especially laces there. YOu need to order it in advance, because it tends to take a lot of time, sometimes up to a month (it might be less in the USA), but you can save a loooot of money! :)
I really like how you decorated the dresses, but I am in love with your outfit in this video. ♥ It's always so calming to watch you work on new dresses
I think a clothing haul sounds awesome!
So, so cute! The 30s are my favorite
Yes!! We want to see a clothing/styling video!!!
I would love a vintage haul
Oh, my. Love the white dress! 🤗
You have wonderful talent. I love what you created. Keep creating.
I have to say that watching your videos are such a pleasure for me. No matter how I'm feeling, you're videos always make me feel so happy and inspired. You're enthusiasm for your projects makes it impossible not to smile. Thank you for the wonderful content.
Congrats on your driving success! Dresses look great, as usual. Gingher shears are my favorites.
Yes on the hauls and hearts!
My pinking shears came from my mum who got them from her father in the 1940s, he worked in the trade in London and had access to good quality products from different countries. They were made in Sheffield but that is all I know. Very good quality.
yes to a haul and styling video!
