I've got a dirty mirror in my SLR polaroid which is causing these identical marks in every single image. I've been told I need to clean the mirror which takes the photo. Is there a safe way to do this without damaging it?

Yes it's safe, done it many times

It is indeed safe, though advisable to do so in subdued light. It's fairly light tight, but you may get a leak on the top frame.
