Happy to say it but went cold turkey Monday at 4pm after 30-40g a day for 14 months. That night and all of Tuesday was miserable. Wednesday morning woke up and muscle aches were gone leg restlessness was practically gone compared to Tuesday. For anyone wondering, I think you should know if you're scared of the withdrawal pick a few days to suffer through it and never look back. Thanks guys.

Thanks for sharing. I used Kratom to help get off opiates, which worked amazingly, but now Kratom is messing me up. It’s been 2 months and I’m taking about 60g per day. My plan is to reduce to 30g over 3 days, stay at that for 3 days, then maybe try cold turkey from there. I’m just terrified. But it can’t be as bad as opiate withdrawal, right? I was at 500mg of oxy per day and dropped to 90 per day and it was a living hell.

Thank you so much for this encouragement! I am free of alcohol & prescription drugs for over 6 years, but I’ve been on approx. 60g a day for several years … I want to be free, but terrified of the process. Been researching opioid detox and that scares me even more. I don’t want to go from one addiction to another. Whenever I research/try “weaning” off, it takes so long and I just don’t have the mental strength … after a few days of attempting, I’m right back to normal usage 50-60g.

@@selenebowman3777 if you want to be free of it. Just go for it. The mental side and making the decision to not take it when you want to or feel you need to is the hardest part. After maybe a day or two that feeling should subside. The first day for me I just felt like I needed to take it. More of a habitual thing not so much a dependency thing. I think that’s what I feared the most. I had it in my head that I needed it when in reality I didn’t. Although it wasn’t pleasant. It is very much bearable. May be uncomfortable but don’t worry about it. Nothing to worry about. Drink a lot of water. Take heavy doses of vitamin c and for me, I took hot showers anytime I felt uncomfortable and that would help me out a lot. Atleast whenever I was home and could. I went for runs. Sweating and heart rates going up helped me out a lot. Eat. Eat. Eat. Drink water. I can’t emphasize that enough. But you got this. Don’t be in your head too much. Find that time to be outside. Don’t lay in bed, get out and walk around. Go throw rocks. Do whatever you gotta do to be outside. After a few days. You will notice that you were more worried than you should’ve been. You got it.

The worst part for me is the mental effects. 1 week off, no more physical symptoms for the most part, but mentally I’m still completely having to force myself to engage and at least spend 5 hours of the day doing any task I can. Just this low feeling where there’s not much joy at all in anything yet. But it’s getting better, first few days I couldn’t get off the couch, so hopefully after week 2 I’ll be a bit closer to my normal mental baseline
EDIT: almost the end of week 3 and I think I’m pretty much back to normal! Definitely feels good to be on the other side of that battle

I'd high recommend even if it sucks and you can't move like you could before to try and exercise and double your water intake. Take lots of vitamins and magnesium and creatine and vitamin d and c. Sleep when you can and plan ahead for nightime because that's when the withdrawals turn their ugly head the most. It sucks because as you get sober, you start to remember all the reasons you turned to the substance in the first place. It's like your own mind plays mind games with yourself. The hardest part for me is 100% trying to get past the inner dialogue telling me "it's okay to keep using, it's not that bad", or "you've gone a few days without it, you deserve to take a break". Addiction is a psychological disorder and without fixing it at the source, you'll never truly be rid of it. First 3/4 days were tough, but I totally over estimated what it would be like. Don’t get me wrong, it was not fun and I’d like to never go through it again, but it’s doable. Restless leg was gnarly, cold chills all damn day, no sleeping, headaches, felt like I had a bad flu. But vitamin C, magnesium, exercise and sweating and a lot of hot showers made it easier. Been using kratom for nearly 10 years. Couldnt even really tell what dosages i reached per day.
It helped me work, i enjoyed working with my hands more and stifled most of my temper.
Problem was it made me feel like a zombie with no balls. All my emotions were foggy and it made socializing difficult because i couldnt react to the cues right.
I started tapering in september and as of oct. 9th i decided to cut it all together.
First month i suffered the depression and no energy.
Mentally i feel good. Im awake and alive. The worst is sleeplessness because of the restless leg that travels througout my whole body.
Benedryll, melatonin and muscle relaxers make it exponentially worse. Having to grit my teeth to get through it.
Things that help have been an excercise bike, higher doses of vitamin C ( go with sodium ascorbate C. Easier on your stomach than the abscorbic acid C)
Really the main thing has been a unwavering trust in God.
Oddly enough i only crave it at 3 am when i just want it to sleep.
Im not out of the woods yet but im confident.
Keep your eyes forward guys, much love to you and you can do it for sure. ✌ For victory.

    @jaysonovo4778 Год назад +25

I quit a year and a half ago, taking 25-35g a day, extracts here and there, for 3+ years straight.
For the restless legs, I recommend taking very hot baths or showers. First week or two of withdrawl I was waking up at 3am and hopping into the shower.
I'd also use icy hot on my legs, and a heated blanket underneath my body to help relax my muscles.
I do not recommend using other drugs or herbs that build dependency to work through it.
It's best to take it head on.
My worst symptom aside from RLS was extreme anxiety. Antihistamines help. I only took them the very first horrible night, as I was bugging out. From there I had some left my mom gave me to help me, but never took them as I wanted to save them just in case the anxiety became that intense again.
What I had was essentially a double strength benadryl. It was enough to relax slightly to sleep for a couple of hours. (I guess benadryl slows the nervous system?)
I also would drink lots of chamomile tea, no coffee (and I'm a big coffee guy). I'd make double strength cups, and drink it throughout the day.
I recommend trying to take off work for the week if possible. If I didn't have the anxiety that I did, I would have been okay at work, but I was experiencing terrible anxiety for quite a few days.
    Everyone has different symptoms.
Aboit a week in I felt much better, but the RLS took about 25 days or so to subside.
My energy didn't come back for a couple of months.
But by the end of the first 2 weeks, I felt so much more like myself it was amazing. I felt "normal". It was a great feeling knowing I had beaten Mt addiction cold turkey, and I never turned back.

My mood wasn't too bad when tapering Kratom, but the aches and pains in my legs seemed to go on forever. I'd stop for two weeks and I'd be in as much pain on day 14 as on day three. Finally, it was wanting to go on holiday abroad that forced me to stop - I wasn't going to carry a bag of Kratom through airport security multiple times. So, I tapered with painkillers, then I tapered the painkillers. Still aching. So I took up a demanding exercise regime, and six months later I'm finally over it. I’ve had the “zaps” all over my body while ON kratom. I only take 4 capsules of green vein a day w prescribed gabapentin (a dose of 2,400mg)-which in and of itself is a problem bc it’s supposed to STOP those zaps. ⚡️ a year ago I was on 80gpd or more of kratom and had to take subs to kick. I wanna say even w subutex and Suboxone prescribed I went thru bloody hell. For weeks. I can handle the body pain and feeling like I have the flu but those zaps are horrific. I think when I took more kratom I had less body zaps. I think I have more now on the lower dose bc my body is withdrawing during the day around the clock. Kratom can be a wonder drug if only taken for a few days or a week maybe but once you cross the 30 day mark you are screwed. I’ve been back on it for a year now. Been trying to quit this shit forever. Thought gaba would help but hell no. Kratom is very similar to tianeptine or Za Za red which is now illegal here in the states. As long as u take it around the clock you don’t feel bad but the minute you slow down or taper or come off forget it. Might as well jump. At this point. I’m so tired of it I could kick myself for ever going back on it. Why I did this to myself I’ll never understand.

I just got out of a clinic for Kratom abuse (4 weeks). Before I entered, I was using about 50g of Green Maen Da kratom every single day for multiple months and could not go a couple hours without use, without becoming very emotional etc. I was heavily addicted. Total use was about 1,5 years. I expected 3 days of withdrawal symptoms, but It kept going for about 1 to 2 weeks. For a week, I couldnt sleep (2-3 hours a night). At night, the muscles on my back and legs were so incredibly irritated, that I had to turn every 30 seconds, which kept me from sleeping. It was absolutely ridiculous. Also, in this time, I was incredibly cold, and felt very emotional for no reason. After the first week (I got prescribed a medicine to lower my bloodpressure and help with withdrawal symptoms, it seemed to work), I mostly kept having sweaty hands for another 2 weeks or so. I think that's about it, wouldn't recomment it. Kratom is great for people who do not get addicted to it, but if you do, it's not worth it.

I’ve been using it for a year and I’ve literally spent about $10k on Kratom. I lost my psychological balance. Mood swings, anxiety and depression. I’ve tried to decrease the dose, and I’m just unable to.

I’m in a fog as I type this; experiencing hot flashes, but my mood isn’t terribly affected. I took a week off to do this, and I hope I can make it.
The massive amounts of vitamin C seems to be working for me.
Please don’t take it in the wrong way but I did numb myself a bit with a spoon of jack Daniel’s. I hate alcohol so there’s no chance I can simply switch from one drug to another.
Make no mistake, Kratom when abused, becomes a highly addictive substance! I’ve had to quit it before and it was hell. For whatever reason, this time around isn’t so bad mentally. Also, You never know how this stuff is gonna hit you. I used to experience chronic constipation with Kratom. I’d only use the bathroom once or twice every nine days with the help of laxative. For a year! 😮
I experience the opposite without Kratom. As you see, we all experience different things, and that’s ok!
I’m 45 and I don’t want to develop something I’ll regret because of Kratom, and that’s why I’m doing this. I’m a productive member of society, whatever that means, but I have struggled with substance abuse in the past. This is absolutely nothing compared to heroin and opiates, but it’s just as expensive and just as devastating if you lose yourself in it. Stay strong, talk to your friends and family, ask for help, do whatever you have to do to feel normal again. It’s worth it!

Just a suggestion. If you want to stop any opiate or kratom drug forever, please don’t take suboxone or methedone . These are just legal prescription drugs with similar molecular engineered design that are much harder to come off of. When you start rehab , some may offer this as a taper. Find a place that doesn’t or atleast gives you the option of a three day taper the first three days. Trust me. Just bc the government makes it legal and accessible doesn’t mean it’s good for you. In fact suboxone is synthetic which means it goes into your bones, which makes withdrawals even more difficult and nearly impossible.

    • @Farkasm
      @Farkasm 5 месяцев назад

I agree. I was addicted to pain killers for about 6 years, taking them 3 times a day. I started out with 5-10mgs 2 times a day, but i quickly built up a tolerance and after a month i had to start taking about 15-20mgs 2 times a day. After another month i was up to 35mgs twice a day. I kept on taking them and ended up at about 60-70mgs 3 times a day. I tried to quit cold turkey, but that proved to be a short lived and very bad idea. I didn't feel any bad effects until about 14 hours after my last dose. The effects were insane. Extreme nausea, shaking, pain everywhere, vomiting, flu symptoms x10, and no chance of any sleep. Work was almost impossible, but never missed a day. I'd go for about 3 days without, but broke down and had to go back on them. I thought i was going to die for real if i had to try with drawling again. I tried quitting them about 5 times, but couldn't see through it. So I thought that going on suboxone alone for a few weeks would be the best way to have less withdrawal symptoms. At first, the subs felt awesome. I almost liked it better then the painkillers, and i only had to take it once a day. I thought i had found the magic way to get off them for good. But i was severely wrong. The withdrawals from the subs were far worse. I couldn't go without them for more then 2 days. So i had to go back on pain killers for over a few months and i was back to doing 60mgs twice a day. So at least it cut my daily use down by around 60mgs. I then read about kratom and experimented with it, and found i needed at least 10gs to feel anything. So i tried quitting opiates for around the 10th time, and was finally able to sleep after tapering my daily opiate intake to about 40-50mgs twice a day. It seemed to work, but had to take at least 10-13gs of kratom 2-3 times a day. I stupidly stayed on kratom for over 3 years now and built up a massive tolerance. I am now up to taking it 3 times per day. About 16gs before work, then about 22gs after i get home, then about 22gs before i try to sleep. I wanted to see how long i could go for before i started feeling anything negative. I can go for about 20 hrs without any before i start feeling the anxiety. I can't make it an entire day before i break down and use it again. So far, the most i can taper my intake is about 16mgs 2 times a day. I feel like my best solution is to continue tapering to as low as i can go and then quit cold turkey.

Edit: I take Kratom for my back issues and as soon as I quit I realised I was in pain again but because I was unused to it from taking Kratom for a while it felt worse than before, but again I got used to it

I get crippling anxiety and depression when I quit. The weird thing is, I'm not sure if that's the result of withdrawl, or just how I normally feel and I have to learn how to get used to it/deal with it. I was a carpenter for 5 years and worked in a shop 5 years prior to that.. I've been taking kratom daily for 8 of those years to deal with back pain and depression. I went to school and got a degree and now have an office job, so the back pain isn't a concern anymore.. I can barely get 12 hours before I give in.. I've used recreational drugs for the last 10 years, but never faced any addiction towards anything besides kratom.. It's shitty because people are very judgemental when i explain my addiction to kratom..

I had no bar to compare it to to begin with so it’s the only intensity I’ve ever known coming off a substance that is physically addictive. The mental addiction was part of it but the restless legs it caused, the flu like symptoms, the depression, feeling like your skin is trying to jump out of its body, diarrhea, etc. is something I’ve never felt from other substances I’ve indulged in like weed, coke, alcohol, mushrooms, etc. and you’re right, it is very much so subjective. I guess what I have a problem with was not knowing the repercussions of the drug before taking it and how it could grab yuh, and how accessible it is at head shops making it seem like it’s nothing. I've used kratom daily (10-15 gram/day average) the last three years to ease my complex regional pain syndrome (considered to be the most painful chronic pain condition. It sucks). While it has certainly helped with pain management, at the same time it's also screwed up my GI system (major bloating) as well as affected how I look. When I'm on it, the skin on my face is dull, dry, and tired looking, and I have dark circles under my eyes. Also, it causes bloating in my face. All this despite having a consistent skincare routine and rarely eating processed foods.
I've been cold turkey for three days and can already tell a difference in my skin. The bags/dark circles under my eyes are slowly going away, skin looks more hydrated, etc. However, I'm definitely feeling the withdrawal symptoms; not so much physically, but psychologically. All I can think of is how much I want to take a dose to feel "normal" again. I'm agitated, restless, and have virtually zero motivation to do anything.
I'll add more to my original comment once a week has passed, but I'm motivated to keep going. Many thanks for your video.

All the GI symptoms are gone as well, have lost nearly 11 lbs. since stopping. Cognitively, my mind feels clearer and my energy levels are where they should be. It hasn't been easy; on numerous occasions I wanted to walk to my nearest kratom shop and continue the cycle, but I haven't.
One random thing that's helped is eating sunflowers seeds and spitting out the shells as I'm working on my laptop. I almost always drank kratom while doing this, kind of like when I used chewing tobacco in the past. I had to find something to take care of that oral fixation/habit, and so far it's worked wonders.

I had dpdr for ~3 years. I isolated myself, that is probably the normal reaction for most, but I can see now when I'm fully cured how that just enables and grows the dpdr. Honestly I was very close to commit suicide because I thought it was going to last forever. But full recovery is very possible my friend. If you are mostly isolated and spend a lot of time behind a screen, you really have to quit that and start integrate to the world. Start small, go for regular walks, go to a cafe and sit down for a while. Slowly minimize the time spent behind a screen. Yes it's very hard, very anxious and painful, but behind that pain there is growth. It will take time. My mantra was, "don't be afraid". When my inner voice would say that I can't do this and that because of my dpdr, I'd talk back and say I'm not afraid. When I was partially recovered and get relapse, I made a point (internally) on how I didn't care and said so what, meaning I wasn't scared of having it back. I'm fully cured now since 6y back. It masks the withdrawals of the street drugs you were on and if you try to take an opiate while on kratom you don’t really feel the effects. It gets you a job and a place to live. A year or two later pick the week, and get off with the help of a doctor. It’s not that bad with gabapentin. Also you will incorporate sleepy time tea with kava kava right before bed. At your bed side for waking up you will have motrin or a over the counter pain killer. For me, Kratom withdrawals causes a bit of soreness in my lower body, particularly in the hip and upper leg area. It is very similar to other opioid withdrawals I used to experience when I was a heroin and pain pill addict for 15 years, except the opioid withdrawals would effect my body all over especially my back, and would be far more intense than kratom.
Luckily I can say that here in about a week and a half(july 2nd 2023), I could celebrate my seventh year clean from heroin and pain pill addiction, and in 2023 even though I am using Kratom, I have only been using it for two years, but it is for a combination of wonderful mental health benefits as well as helping me with nerve pain in my lower back since I do have spinal cord and nerve problems and arthritis to deal with and it helps with all of these. And given the fact that I had to deal with reoccurring withdrawals for 15 years that were far more intense, these Kratom withdrawals seem very Petty to me and the benefits far outweigh that one downside(minor withdrawls). Although I do feel bad for some people that I have seen on RUclips that have experienced a lot of discomfort from the withdrawals from kratom. This will increase your risk of addiction and pretty bad affection it is pure hell when trying to quit after many years of kratom use on a regular basis. the withdrawals of kratom are more intense than Oxycodone. So believe it or not, kratom is a hard drug and will be illegal soon. It’s nice you gave up on heroin unfortunately you just switched to a similar drug which is not less dangerous. Lots of people getting hocked up on it seeing it’s harmless greenish looking outer not knowing the dangerous inside of the plant. To be on the safer side, the best advice you can give someone who wants to quit something without professional help is to taper. If you taper, wds will be minimal. I have been successfully taking kratom for over 6 yrs. It's been a lifesaver for my chronic pain, since Drs refuse to treat patients anymore. As with anything, kratom also needs to be respected and used in moderation. It's not near as dangerous as alcohol, tobacco or even sugar tho.

Over the past month i tapered down, today im at 7g a day. I have no choice but to quit because, i dont want these stomach issues to become chronic. Currently white knuckling it until my next dose. I'm going cold turkey for the 2nd time. Was taking about 13 to 14 grams twice a day for a bout a year each time. Tried tapering but it's too slow and difficult to commit to, I'm kind of an all or nothing type person so I tend to jump in the deep end and tough it out. I've also been through severe opiate withdrawal several times, once due to recreational pain killer use, the others were from major surgeries and I will say, while kratom withdrawl sucks pretty bad it's similar in symptoms but a piece of cake in comparison. Took me about 10 days to feel back to normal from kratom with a bit of low energy and motivation, was over the worse part in about 5 to 7 days. I'm on day 5 right now and making it through a full work day is rough but doable with a couple redbulls. Pain killers were a lot tougher to come off of and took quite a bit longer. I was basically bedridden for about 2-3 weeks from that. Anyway, just sharing my experience. If you manage to kick it after using it regularly just be sure you're able to only take it once a week or so if you decide to try it again. I made the regrettable mistake of daily use after intending to take it rarely a second time so just don't make that mistake and you shouldn't have to suffer the same consequences again. Hope that helps anyone struggling with this. Don't be afraid to quit, it's a bitch but easily doable, especially if you have a long weekend or vacation from work to start with.

In the exact same boat. I took it 5ish years ago for about a year. I’m not quite sure which came first, but at a certain point I started feeling pains, aches that wouldn’t go away. Got checked by the doctor, heart, X-rays… they all said I was good and it was likely the kratom. But I swear whatever I was feeling felt real and lasted for about a month (during that time I had quit completely.) looking back, it makes perfect sense.
Was off for about 2-3 years. Things got bad at the end of covid, family stuff, and I was very down and it seemed like a safer way to get through whatever I was feeling than drinking. Had to take something though because I was at rock bottommm. I’d planned on using it just to get through that. A year and a half later, I am once again entirely dependent. Honestly haven’t even tracked my doses, simply would take a scoop every time I felt I needed more (If I had to estimate, probably about 15g a day since the 100g normally last a little less than a week.)
Been trying to taper off the last few days… but it’s brutal. All I can do is lay in bed, and even then I feel restless, anxious, headache, appetite gone. Hot flashes… and what someone else in the comments said about the mental aspect of withdrawal: you start to feel all the emotions you were feeling when you started taking it. I just drove to the gym and had to drive back home to take some because I felt so horrible. Anyway… I’m not against kratom, I see it’s benefits, it does boost my mood (hardly anymore,) would help me feel at ease. But being a slave to anything isn’t fun… and I want to save my money, and it doesn’t help. I also vape (which also needs to go) and smoke the zaza and I just no longer like the idea of being reliant on so many substances, even if they’re “safer” ones. Good luck though man…

8/day is roughly 6 grams, which is considered a “low dose” on the Kratom dosage scale. However if you feel good taking only 1 gram that’s great, no need for any more.
If you’re taking a tablet and not a capsule you’re most likely taking concentrated mitragynine and 7-hydroxymytragynine, which are the psychoactive ingredients in Kratom. Basically it means that you are taking a much more concentrated dose. The powder form is pure ground Kratom leaves which contain plant matter and mitragynine and 7.

I have stopped cold turkey many times on smaller doses of less than 10 a day and it is barely noticeable. Does it suck? Yes. But its nowhere near what you will get at higher daily doses above 30gpd. that's where kratom will really bite you in the ass if you miss a single dose or run out even a little early. Decided to take a tolerance break because my tolerance was now impeding on my daily existence. The withdrawls peak at day 3 and will last about a week then you will experience low mood for several weeks afterward. High doses is nothing to play with. under 15g a day does not trigger withdrawls from what i have seen if he was on 40gpd he wouldn't be able to leave his house.
