I kid you not but when I moved from Wellie to Auck in 93, this song decided which house in Mt Eden I bought. It was on the corner of a small cul-de-sac (with a halfway house at the end of the street) a hundred metres from Dom Rd. I'd often stroll along the footpath humming this song. Yep, I'd finally 'made it' !!
I lived in Auckland in 92, moved from little old Wanganui to work for Warnocks. I was 18 and travelled Dominion Rd every day to go to work from our flat in Sandringham. I love the video with the old cars, very nostalgic. A much simpler time. I haven't lived in NZ for over 20 years now and miss it every day.

I heard this song for the first time ever last monday, missed it in the 90s 'cause i was a staunch metal head. this has quickly become one of my favourite songs ever. vocal melody makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. reminded me of folk songs on my first listen. Absolutely love it. i even like the remade british britpop video. great work.
