This week I’m looking at Woody to see if his wing looks any better, I discovered a new feather has appeared on the area of concern, good news maybe, what’s your thoughts please.

Great news that Woody’s moulting well and those primaries are coming through. Runa’s deck feather we lost at the beginning of last season around the same time Woody lost his is growing back well now so that’s a relief!
Nice one Pete. He's on his way to mending. The deck feather saga, I have a good friend in the pest control industry his male Harris only has half the tail feathers he is a seasoned falconer 50 year's plus, he has no idea why it only has 50% of it's tail, quite evenly spread across the tail. He says he is hopeful every year the bird mounts that they will come down but they never do. One thing I will say I've seen it fly and it goes like the clappers seagulls go wild as always 😅. It doesn't seem to affect his flight to badly that said there's not so much twisting and turning in pest control like there is in hunting. Anyway thanks for the update all looks good 👍

looking good on the feather front. Kangaroo leather stretches one way and not the other because when they hop it only goes in one direction up and down..........and if you believe that ...well😆 stay lucky mate.
Woody is doing amazing at fat weight! Even when he was an ounce heavier the next day, he still flew to your glove with little hesitation! My question is this, has he reached his max weight yet, or is his weight still increasing? I remember last year when he reached the 2 lb mark! Then after a few more weeks during the moult his body had naturally realized and his weight decreased to his true fat weight. He doesn't mind you checking out his wing feathers! He is just perfect while he eats! I'm glad that Woody only had damaged feathers and there wasn't anything more serious such as a disease that could have been contracted to him. Just by watching this, he looks keen enough that you could untether him at fat weight and let him fly free in the yard! But I do know that looks can be decieving. Its unclear how keen Woody would be if he was a distance away on the neighbor's roof. Keep the manning going Peter! I just want to see Woody the way he has always been, especially eating on the glove! Woody is going to be fine! The moult will still go as planned. He will just end up moulting those few damaged feathers early.
Hi, he is a fat weight I could get him fatter by increasing his food in crop size pieces, if I put a bit piece of meat in the mews daily I think he would just eat what he needs but feeding smaller pieces his weight keeps increasing, he would get obese if I didn’t keep an eye on his weight. So I weigh him and now stop him getting to fat, I think like any animal if you over feed they will get over weight. I’m sure if I put bigger pieces of meat in the mews let him eat what he wants then remove what he leaves each day he would regulate his weight, but giving him smaller pieces daily he just eats all what ever I feed him. Hope that makes sense.
