Wow, I’ve now got even more respect for Early B for what he did for Supercat, he was giving up his salary to help his apprentice, probably fearful something bad would happen to Cat. Early is a great reggae star. Now a great reggae legend
Clinton thank you for all you have done for reggae music in America. I lived around the corner from Stardust back in the 80s but I was in high school then so I couldn't go to dance. I used to look forward to going to Percy record shop across the street from Stardust and listen and watch Downbeat dances with the artists you would bring up. I also remember your Tamika Reggae Awards. Those were some good times for the industry. Big up yuh self mi boss.

Good day.....I always want to know this person....as a young man growing up in Spanish Town I hear this man name alot....big up to see u for the first time.
Hey Patrick, thanks for watching, I was never the "upfront" person, do my best work behind the scenes but now see the need to come upfront and set the record straight, so much misinformation out...
Early B got mad love for Supercat to give up his salary just so Cat can get piece of the pie.
8:18 Call out the dutty mind sound man who disrespected Cat heritage - “he don't want a coolie boy on him set.”
Apache turned out to be the GOAT 🐐
Yes, he loved Super Cat more than Cat himself will ever know
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL #RealTalk 👍 this was a great video, sir.
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL Great story about Early B fi SuperCat
Respect for this! I'm surprised that NY soundmen didn't want Cat their sounds back in 1985. Although he had no hit tunes at the time, he had been working out on Jaro for awhile by then and could ride the riddims well.
It was only one that didn't want him on the set at all, others took him but with no salary
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL I honestly think you got the yrs mix up and all wrong
Big up uself Clinton Lindsay! Nuff respect for the info.

Much respect to Early B.👊
I agree
I wish I had a friend or mentor like Early Bird..
He told me the story of how he became Early B, as an apprentice, he had to travel with the sound and even helped to set it up, set up the mic stand and warm up the place till the supes dem come, he met a youth dj in country named Early Bird, and by time he came back to Kingston he dropped the Bird and just made it B, he said he respected the youth...that was Early B!
Blessings Mr Lindsay. Boops was a 85 single
No it was not...1986
Riley released 'si boops deh' album 1985
While Skengdon released the album 'Boops' 1986
@@Rankinglevy it was 1986 the three boops albums come out
Winston Riley, Jammys and Skegdon

See boops deh was and is super cats biggest hit ever .
at least one of signature songs, the one that started it for him...
Raspect and manners 💚💛❤️
I met Early B in Flatbush Brooklyn back in 1990. I still remember the day. I was like 18 and riding my bike down Flatbush ave. I ran into him near at a pay phone on Flatbush and Farragut Road. Soon as I seen him i knew it was him because I used to rent dancehall tapes from a video store on flatbush ave. I rented a tape called Kilamonjaro at House of Leo. Early B was on the tape. He was really a cool man. A few years later I heard he was killed. I didn't even find out until like 2000. I was heartbroken when i found out. I was already living on long island when I hear he passed away in 1994. RIP Early B!!
Thanks for sharing this, The Doc was a really likable and easily approached guy. He was genuine. In this area of Brooklyn you mentioned, Super Cat used to have an apartment. Continue resting in peace, my good friend!
Nice one

Jah jah it pain my heart when I heard what happen to Doctor, he was my idol growing up the same thing I heard happen to one of his son in Jamaica they rob on killed him coming home from work culture vulture.
I bin knew dis, as I am from cockburn pen, so I know a early b buss supercat an junior cat,, but supercat don't give early b much credit, big up early b di original docta, r.i.p mi general
In the beginning he did, but not that much in the past couple of years...however, history is history, Super Cat can never forget Early B even when he does not mention the Doctor!
For real, can't forget the great doctor Early B, one of the greatest to ever hold a 🎤 S I P Doc🔥🔥🔥🔥
No. No. Cat always ah say early him mentor, cat must be dont even know bout this story, bit him hv excess amount of love for him.. Cat ah rude boi, bet him couldnt tell cat him no want no coolie boi on him sound..
not sure where you get that idea... every time I hear him he says Ranking Trevor and Early B are his two inspirations more than anyone.
Lies...Supercat always big up Early B.
I thank you for this background info regarding one of my favorites, The Wild Apache❣️I'm happy to have stumbled across your page and could you please explain what a "coolie" is? God bless!✊🏽✌🏽
"Coolie" is a derogatory term towards people of Indian descent, like the "N" word for Blacks...Please spread the word...
It sweet Rasta!
Respect Kevin, thanks for watching and please subscribe, a piece on your dad is coming...
So far as I am concerned Early B/ Supercat were the number 3 all time 1 2 combinations on sound systems not Cat / Demus. Loved the bicycle/ bible / reality lyrics from back then. No1 combination General Echo/ Madoo, No2 combination Josey Wales/ Charlie Chaplin. Early B does not get enough credit for basically training Supercat on King Majesty sound before they got big on Jaro. To this day I would love to know the reason why Early B and Charlie Chaplin had a falling out in the mid 80s when they were throwing lyrics at one another ?
in their hey days, nobody could test that combination...thanks for watching and please subscribe
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL Yes I already subscribed before reading your comment. Please do a video on Professor Nuts if you had any involvement with him in the past. Keep up the good work sir.
Early B One wheel, wheely wheely
mash up the place then
Charlie Chaplin come with the 4 wheel style which was a wheel spin
Foot on the brakes but revving the engine with the car tyres burning.
Early B said that's not wheely but its just lyrics at the end of the day.
@@johntom8291 Yes I remember Early B counteracted Charlie's lyrics with ' 4 wheel wheelie could never be real' but are you saying that was reason they fell out with one another?
@@punanny123 Early B said 4 wheel spin was not real, Early B was Djing about bike and Charlie Chaplin was Djing about cars but it the same transport lyrics 😎

Respect Mr. Lindsay, but you got the years dem mixed up. Cat released Under Pressure 1984 and the whole boops album was released 1985. By 1986 Cat was known worldwide. Could have been you were speaking of 83 and not 84?
The dates are absolutely correct...trust me...and Under Pressure (on the greetings riddim) was released in 1986...
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL In those days Jaro was a household name and people didn't know about Cat in New York ?
@@truthhurts7469 Boops broke Super Cat in New York and the rest of the world...
Early b real loyality
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL True. Boops was the first Cat we heard in Nigeria and that was in 86
Cat was on top of the world 85-86 so i really don't understand what is being said here.
Cat got his break in 1986, it's unfortunate you don't understand

Yes Leon, look out for the episode on Lt. Stitchie & Papa San, please subscribe
Hard to believe 84 to 85 cat was considered a Prentice and can't "ride a Riddim "in the eyes and ears 🤔 of New York fools.but by 87 Cat was one of dancehall biggest thing, move from Jaro to King stur Mars, move to New York and start his own Label and put out some of the biggest tunes in dancehall. That's a lot to accomplish in 2 yrs .seems something missing from this story
Do you have family in Clarendon? or connected to Lee Lindsay ? Jack scorpio ? D Dennis? my Dad pass in 97 is a Lindsay and a sound man "shannon door of the wild west" i was born in brixton ?
Rip Doctor real man sleep well
You're saying that Super Cat didn't have a name back in 85-86 or he didn't have a hit song. With all due respect sir, Early B and Cat has been killing so many sound on Killimanjaro..they were the hottest combination in dance hall. So for you disrespecting Cat like he was nothing before Boops drop, you really need to do your research on that.
Respect king same ting mi a Seh..Mi have cassette with cat a mash up 1983...Cat was on top of his career 85..86 him a tour the world.
@@nyny9697 Yes king, a dat me know...if he's talking about recording career..then him have a point. The Doc was very loyal to Cat..as he should..Cat was his other half. Them kill jaro in Sjatekland..on a sound from St. Thomas name king Majesty with Danny Dread as selector.. Then jaro dj Jim Kelly got shot and kill in Spanish town. A so jaro owner Mr. Harper get cat and the Doc to start dj jaro..facts!
@@courtneyhall5936 This is why I am doing this series, to help clear up all this misinformation concerning artists I was/am involved with, Super Cat never had a passport prior to me agreeing to bring him to America, once I agreed, Early B went back to Jamaica took out a passport, called me with the info, Cat came to America in 1985...when Boops became popular, he went to England with Nicodemus in 1986 (a visa wasn't required to go to England then) I brought him back in 1986...he did not go on no world tour etc...stop spreading this foolishness...however, you guys can spin it anyway you want, but I know the facts because I was there!
Under pressure, vineyard style , cry for the youth, booops , early 80s , nuh mek nuh sense Clinton , Jaro Puppa roots and Saxton in England . Joke thing this. Cat was just as big or bigger than early B. I didn't even mention skateland..... kisssteeeth!
Cat was a sound system dj not a recording artists, most likely he would not be book for overseas shows because he did not have songs on the radio and that the only way overseas people would know you , remember the 70s was all about sound systems and the 80s was about recording and sound systems , back in the 80s if you don't have some hit songs playing on the radio in Jamaica and abroad you would not be known in new York , respect to Clinton walking history box a nuff artists you bust overseas

Yo O! crap Clinton I remember when I was 12 years old can't remember the name of the radio station Clinton used to play the Newest reggae music I am not sure but I think he was the number one reggae radio disc jockey or maybe it was just in my book 📖 I remember I think 🤔 it was 1986 when he hade announced that admiral Bailey had won the DJ of the Year 🎉🎊 of course in my ignorance I disagree with the decision I thought lieutenant stichy should have won but stichy was mostly a dancehall artist and only had a couple of records out and admiral Bailey had multiple tune on record ⏺️ infact it seems as if every week admiral Bailey had a new number one record ⏺️ out and did deserve the award 🎊🎉 I don't think I have enough finger 👍 and toes 🦶 to count how many records ⏺️ admiral Bailey had out that year I was just young and foolish at the age of 12 years old but I can remember every night I would stay up late 12 or 1am just to listen 👂 to Clinton Lindsay knowing I have to get up early in the morning to go to School 🏫 bless Clinton Lindsay and you know what also bless Clive Hudson R.I.P he was another great radio 📻 disc jockey thank you both . Yes Wesley, it's been a long journey, thanks for staying up those late nights, remember Admiral Bailey was managed and produced by top producer King Jammy...you have good memory my youth...thanks for the years of support.

Your truth need context ,1st you heard about cat through a big hit boops,2nd moodies the tape man never hear bout. Cat (Jaro and Stereo Mars early 80s was killing every sound and Skateland tape and videos were hot ) . 3rd under presha realse 1984 his 1st hit, every hit came after that and 4th London first tour 86 on Coxsone and Saxon. So please history must be told in context. Early B Cat and Demus were running the place red and they looked out for each other. You talk as if you were the only promoter then. Nuff Spangler's,,Steppss, and hustlers financed their stage shows when they/he came to NY and England required passports in the 80s. Margaret thatcher made sure of that. That's why Jamaicans migrated in droives to the USA.
Kyle, you must learn to listen and understand, I never said I heard about Cat thru Boops (you missed the whole thing by saying this) and I never said I was the only promoter back then, and what you don't know is that all those "nuff Spanglers etc...hired me to get their artists work permits...there is a piece coming up exactly on this issue...subscribe and stay tuned..
@@CLINTONLINDSAYOFFICIAL Ok sah , you need to listen to your interview , the context is off and I will correct myself also, his first hit was MR Walker I come to check yuh daughter..1981, point is how could no one not know of Cat by 84.
Super cat done boops 1985 so I dont know how he is saying 1986 just dont add up to me
@@rohangreen4209 Better yet Vineyard party buss 1985 ,a year after under Pressure 1984 . All of those Jaro,Stero Mars and Gurv arer on RUclips, it will confirm Cat was known and holding his own. Lindsey story lacks context.
