I appreciated the casual lesson style here. Listening to you debug your own cad was beyond helpful to me so that I could do the same with the mistake I was making. Cheers
Most welcome 😊 This was the very first video I ever uploaded on RUclips and it's so bad. I have uploaded a newer Loft video, check that. this video is from 11 years ago
Dont know why people didn't like your videos. I surely liked it. I have learnt basic solidworks but still things were not clear. A few of my doubts are cleared now. Thanks for the video. (y)
As Rob said it, in the older version there is a button like a stop light which is the "rebuild" button. what it does is, actualize the sketch and closes the area of drawing. it means you are done with the specific sketch and ready to move on to do other stuff. Other options you have are: Ctrl+Q or simply that bent arrow button on top right corner of the screen (working space) when working on a sketch (Only). in another word, when done with the sketch = should rebuild.
So sorry for replying so late, but most of the time when people face the problem you are facing, is because they dont rebuild the sketch when they hold the CTRL key down and click on the plain. the key to solve this is very easy: just make sure you dont have any sketch under construction when you are trying to make new plains. if you are, rebuild the sketch then hold the ctrl key down and then click on one of the visual plains in the screen. OR go to the insert-->reference geometery-->plain ;)
Hey, Buddy you should tell me more, it could be for many reasons. the first reason i can think of is that you are drawing both of your guide lines in one sketch. when they should be each drawn and rebuild in sepreate sketches. (99% of the times). let me know if its not the case. sorry for the delay
sorrry to reply late. Most of the time I hear that problem is Because the Two guid curves are drawn in ONE sketch. which would cause this issue. what you should do is to draw the first guild curve then rebuild the sketch and then draw the next rebuild again, so at the end you see two diff skteches on your work history. if you don know how to rebuild read my answer to roxferesr above. otherwise check your guild curves see if they are connected to the ovals ( could be the reason)
@RidetoHeavenCommand well, if the shape is perfectly rounded then, yes revolve is a better choice like this one but, if one of the circles were a square then loft would be your only choice. ;)
Glad you enjoyed it. This is my first ever video and 4th ever Solidworks video on RUclips! Since then I’ve uploaded better videos about loft on my channel
to be honest i do not know exactly as i learned solidworks by exprience and no class and during these times i was working with it i couldnt tell the diff. Although i know they make you more flexible on some more advanced stuff. but their basic result is quiet similar.
i have worked only on some parts of a car body and never assembled one. working with surfaces is prefered as it makes your job much easier. you need a 3 view of the car (front top right) in one scale. thats all I can say daxx321.
youtube is really messy, i really don know if i have answered your question before or not, im sorry if i missed it, but...i know where your problem is. you need to draw your first guide curve and rebuild the sketch, and then draw your second guide curve and again rebuild it. in a way that you have two sketches for your two guides cureves at the end. ;)
My profiles were a 4 polygons parallel to each other on different planes. They are not identical, nor they are similar. They have the same number of sides nonetheless. I got 2 of my guiding curves which connect to all of my polygons however solid works could not figure out how to loft it. If you know how to solve the problem I would really appreciate to hear it. Thanks.
seriously! this comment was here all this time and I never saw it?! im truly sorry for that. well my guess is you are still in the sketch zone and have not clicked on the "rebuild" opition (99.9% of the times). hopefully you have found the solution by now
Did it ever occur to you that most people have no idea what a "Loft Boss" is? You might consider that. Don't start talking to us like we are the authors of Solidworks. Not to confuse. That is the purpose of a tutorial.
Your comment makes no sense, I think you meant to say 'bitch this aint chipotle.' However, aint is not a word, and you forgot to capitalize Chipotle - dumb-dumb.
I'm just expressing my annoyance here: Why is it everywhere on you tube for these 3D tutorials make use of people who aren't truly comfortable with English? Recommendation: Plan out you tutorial with a script. This allows for a clear and understandable lesson.
SolidworksTutorials by the way you should start these tutorials from the start when you show how you got to the beginning screen. Yeah, how do you get that bar next to the loft page?

Excellent full-coverage demo. Thanks for working it out and placing it for our viewing. Ignore the detractors, OK? It's a very good demo.

Nice video, inspiring, thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks a lot~!
You're welcome. I wish you watched my new video on Loft from 2019 which is much better
Can you guess what the # 42 represents? In any case thanks for the demo :-)
can i ask how to make 2 different plane?
Is it possible to do this all from the same sketch?
My profiles were a 4 polygons parallel to each other on different planes. They are not identical, nor they are similar. They have the same number of sides nonetheless. I got 2 of my guiding curves which connect to all of my polygons however solid works could not figure out how to loft it. If you know how to solve the problem I would really appreciate to hear it. @SieTeppischfresser thanks
why is there a need to pierce the points of the guide curve?
Could you explain this a little more?. I don't get that menu either. Where's the "rebuild" option?
Hi,Do you know how to draw a Car Body and make a Car Assembly?
if i have designed the entity, how to duplicate the plane with it?
the rebuild button looks like a stoplight
Mamnoon Agha :D
I CANT ADD MORE SKETCH PLAINS i ctrl click and i dont get the menu pop up that you do wtf
im on 2012 version
can anyone explain options rollout of loft property manager. Those options are nightmare .
Can you explain a lil bit more in detail? im not sure which options you are talking about?
I do not understand START/END constraints rollout of loft property manager. Please include tangency explanation in your tutorial.
seriously! this comment was here all this time and I never saw it?! im truly sorry for that. well my guess is you are still in the sketch zone and have not clicked on the "rebuild" opition (99.9% of the times). hopefully you have found the solution by now
chokrane
Idk why putting using control and hitting the plane is not working for me, anyone else having this issue?
dont just click on it, drag it while holding Ctrl AND make sure no sketching mode is active
Couldn't this have been made much easier by using a revolve?
Thanks for your tutorial. But I feel you are in hurry, so please take your time and slow down a bit. That will help us a lot to understand better.
Where do I find the pierce function??
Paul Fagan Left side bar menu. after choosing both object it will appear on the left
Good tutorial, I just leave a suggestion: go slower and explain better what you r doing, dont rush. apart from this, really useful
will do the next time. thanks
SolidworksTutorials how did you get that window by the sketch thing

Recommendation: Plan out you tutorial with a script. This allows for a clear and understandable lesson.
Your accent is already annoying enough but you manage to make it much worse by keep repeating ok ok ok ok ok ok. That's all I learn from this clip!
I'm not trying to be rude, but it's really annoying and redundant how you say "ok" after almost every sentence.
understandable, that was my very first video. sorry for that.
SolidworksTutorials by the way you should start these tutorials from the start when you show how you got to the beginning screen. Yeah, how do you get that bar next to the loft page?
I thought it was funny how much you said "okay." It added a little humor to my day. I hope you never stop saying "okay" as much as you do.
bro please remake this video and improve it.
It looks like i lost my time inhere, sorry guy i'm quiting
Dude, when you can't speak English why do you try to make tutorials in the English language and get into our nerves by ok ok ok ok?
Thank you for making this!
