@@ZekeBurns-om3ytI think that’s what he means though haha, James could’ve been sporty & Orla could’ve been posh, so that he wouldn’t have to wear a dress. But literally chose to be posh 🤣
The fact she wore a peace sign dress is so accurate. I was a teen in Northern Ireland in the 90s. At a talent show the Ginger of the Spice Girls wore a ‘union’ flag but it was a yellow, white and black version so not to upset anyone.
the way that the one they are just represents their character so well.. Michelle being the "sexy" one is so like her and I can imagine her shouting that she had to be it. I can imagine James protesting that he should be Sporty rather than Posh because he should wear trousers, but Orla complaining and (ultimately) getting her way. And Claire and Erin just make sense, Claire being the most polite and Erin wearing the peace sign as she for some reason sees herself as a voice for the youth of Derry just makes me chuckle.
They got Nicola in the same shade of blue in the first sneak peak of season 3 of Bridgerton as they did in her Baby Spice outfit - well a pretty similar shade of blue.
Agreed, that's exactly what I was thinking. It was risky having Erin wear a Union Jack dress in a Catholic school in the 1990's, right in the middle of the Troubles.
@@bigolbowlosoup330 Plus, Clare had a reason (or at least gave one) for wearing the Union Jack top. She was trying to "take the power out of these symbols". Although Michelle stated that her message was more like "I'd like to get beaten up" 😂😜
I still say that Wee Tina should've won even if the Girls couldn't. Don't get me wrong, Jenny's gotten a lot better than season 1, but she still keeps singing off-key and never gives her friend the spotlight she deserves (as the only one who can sing on-key).
Why the heck did they make James wear a dress? His line ‘honestly Erin’ brilliantly delivered though. Jerry being an awesome husband and her dad still being awful to him.
I guess it's a case of 'separating the art from the artists' in the girls case. Maybe the audience decided to view it that way as well. Or maybe that's why they got some stony glances - thought it might jsut be because James was wearing a dress.
It's possible they wouldn't have known - I remember looking them up and their biggest thatcherite moments in the 90s are all in pro-thatcher newspapers and magazines (which I imagine wouldn't have a massive audience with Derry catholics at that moment) while their usual media message was way more general and marketable. Though I could be wrong - I wasn't there, all this was just research 2 decades after it all went down. Were the spice girls super well known as tories when they were big?
love that james dedicated to wearing the dress even though orla was just in leggings so he clearly didnt need to (also that james was posh spice)
Sporty spice did wear leggings though...
@@ZekeBurns-om3ytI think that’s what he means though haha, James could’ve been sporty & Orla could’ve been posh, so that he wouldn’t have to wear a dress. But literally chose to be posh 🤣
To be fair, James was always going to be Posh 😁
Orla was in leggings because Sporty was always in leggings
I saw him in the black cocktail dress and I’m like “Why is he hot?” My bisexual ass can’t handle this!

Yeah the Derry Girls writer did explain Erin wouldn’t have performed in a Union Jack dress
Look at Orla rocking those abs. I loved this episode so much!
Really, they SHOULD have recorded a full version, as an extra to the serial...
yes omg
That would’ve been great ;)
"there's nothing you can't do, love. nothing." GERRY YOU ANGEL YOU!!!!!!!!
Let’s make it real!
I liked that they picked a song that wasn't "Wannabe", as while I do like it, it's a little overplayed, and they have far more entertaining songs.
2:14 Aisling's smile. She was always a bit more chilled than Jenny...not to mention a better singer 😂
she was smiling at James!
absolutely better 😂

I’m more of a man than Orla! I do not accept that ;)
This show is one of my go to comfort shows .
Real! Always puts the biggest smile on my face ☺️
I love how Sister Michael is like: Wait… theyre actually good!? Is this correct?
How are they good??? Jenny being pissed off ;)
the priest's hair omg
Come in, Father.
Yeah he used to have great hair ;(
It brings up Michelle's breakfast:))
I love that they perfectly matched each Derry Girl to the right Spice Girl
That Louisa Harland SINGS with Orla's voice amazes me everytime, I'm sure that was tricky

this was my favourite episode of derry girls, handsdown
One of my favorites scenes of this show
Erin upset about her thunder being stolen 😂😂😂😂😂 Epic
Good thing that they didn't use the Union Jack dress. Probably wouldn't go down very well in Derry
Agreed, that's exactly what I was thinking. It was risky having Erin wear a Union Jack dress in a Catholic school in the 1990's, right in the middle of the Troubles.
Clare wears a Union Jack dress in Series 2 but it does make sense not to wear one since they are on TV

Yeah the Derry Girls writer explained that Erin wouldn’t have worn the Union Jack at the time
I just realised Erin, who's dressed as Ginger Spice leaving was reflective of the real Spice Girls.
😮
a full version of this will bring peace to the world
James as Posh Spice ❤
5:08 Jim Carey/ Jack Black type comedy 😆😆🤌 She’s bloody hilarious!
i like that they let the choreography look like actual teenagers came up with it and not some professional choreographer
S3 e2, The Affair. Assuming Mary's enjoying an affair with Gabriel is hilarious!
Orla is so fit. She was perfect for Sporty Spice
1:55 Father Matthew also known as Father Peter
Orla was eating this performance up
1:09 telling my kids this is Caitlyn Clark

“they are english, but we still like them..” perfectly sums up the spice girls tbh ❤😂 0:24
Erin's funny when she shouts lol
Aisling at 2:14 is all of us
all characters fit the spice girls so well wahahhaha my fav episode
Aisling smiling... Talent recognizes talent
It's a crime that there is an full length version and it isn't on spotify
1:55 best scene😂
The only problem with this performance is that it's cut short. Would have watched it until the end tbh
Why the heck did they make James wear a dress? His line ‘honestly Erin’ brilliantly delivered though. Jerry being an awesome husband and her dad still being awful to him.
Derry Girls delivered the Gay awakening to a whole new generation with this performance. And I thank them for that.
They all look great! And I just Nicola so sweet and magnetic in this scene!
CLARE IS SAUR CUTE. I COULDN'T HELP IT 🥹
I just watched this and I so loved it
This is called thinking you’re all that and having the stuff to back it up.
I thought this was going to be corny! Oh, hell nooo! It's as hilarious as it should be!😂❤
*Your true legend!!*
2:59
Girlllllllll powerrrrrr
I can't stand it, they're too fricking brilliant, Derry girls forever
I gotta say Erien is really rooking that Ginger spice look
swear the ginger un looks exactly like my ex she even has the dress
are they good? how are they good?
Funny to see James dressed up as a woman!
DO ET GRANDA
The Spice Girls were outspoken Thatcherites. It's strange they chose to sing this song in their Catholic school.

So no Catholic has ever been a capitalist? Has anyone told the head of the multi billion pound church?
First
I thought they were awesome, also James pulled off that dress very well 😊
